Red Carpet Fashion Awards

Nicole Richie attended the 2011 MOCA Gala, which was held on Saturday night in LA.

The designer donned her second gown by a British designer in a row, this time opting for a Julien Macdonald Fall 2011 gown.

Her mauve high-neck gown with gorgeous leaf embroidery is yet another bold look which the petite star manages to pull off.

The semi-sheer gown was paired with a House of Harlow ‘Olivia’ python clutch and silver Chopard jewels.

A face-framing updo, dramatic eye makeup and pale pink lips completed the look.

I love the dress from the front; Nicole totally owns it.

The back I’m not so crazy about, because it’s designed to look like she’s exposing her bra strap, which she isn’t.

Kate Beckinsale was one of many stars to skip the red carpet at Spike TV’s Scream 2011 Awards in California on Saturday night.

The British actress presented wearing a Julien Macdonald Spring 2010 dress.

Her white scuba dress with padded shoulders is quite a step away from Kate’s usual girlie style.

Unfortunately the shoulders make her look like a Quarterback in this picture.

There weren’t any full-length pictures, but I will bet she was wearing pumps.

Her half-up, half-down hairstyle managed to soften the dramatic shoulders, but I still don’t think this was the right look for her.

Cheryl Cole wore the runway version to Gary Barlow’s birthday party at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel in January last year.

Jessie J was a big winner at the 2011 MOBO Awards last night as she took home four out of the five MOBO awards she was nominated for.

The singer walked the red carpet for the first time without her cast, wearing a Julien Macdonald Fall 2011 gown.

Her dramatic gothic chiffon gown with a lace bodice was an unusual choice for an urban awards show, but she was the most original as everyone else opted for short mini dresses.

Jessie’s look was made that much more dramatic with bold red lips and dark eyes against her porcelain skin.

Her trademark bob has been replaced with tumbling dark curls and she accessorized with gold jewels.

Love it or hate it?

Normally I’m too jet-lagged after New York to enjoy London Fashion Week, but Julien Macdonald’s Spring 2012 powerful bold collection erased the sleep from my eyes yesterday morning.

The first part of the presentation showcased military inspired pieces with square top military hats, boyish blazers, waistcoats and waistcoat dresses which were layered with crisp white shirts, dresses, fitted pants and nude leather quilted jackets.

A lot of these pieces were backless to provide a sexy edge.

Chinese prints and colourful knits followed before a succession of glamorous looks.

The cocktails dresses and gowns shimmered with beaded details and swayed with metallic tassels.

High octane gowns followed. Sheer gowns with the winged feathered embroidered details which are very Givenchy-esqe followed a bright canary yellow haltered gown and a silver metallic backless halter.

Key accessories included Porsche Design sunglasses, Breitling watches, platform heels and silver metal belts which toughed up most looks and played to the military theme.

Martin Cullen for L’Oreal Paris created the wet-look tightly pinned hairstyles sported by the models with black, red or white paint. Miranda Jones and her L’Oreal Paris team applied that beautiful bold ruby red lip colour.

Front Row: Rosario Dawson, Alesha Dixon, Bianca Jagger, Eliza Doolittle and Lorraine Kelly (yes that Lorraine Kelly from GMTV).

Favourites: Chinese print halter dress with handkerchief hemline and leather quilted jacket with sweater and black skirt

Who I See Wearing This Collection: Rihanna, Jade Parfitt, Pixie Geldof, Gwyneth Paltrow, Elle Macpherson, Olivia Wilde, Keira Knigthley, Heidi Klum, Shingai Shoniwa, Jessica Alba, Minka Kelly and Beyonce Knowles

Too Dark & Too Gothic Award
Selena Gomez co-hosted the Pre-Show at the 2011 MTV Video Music Awards which was held tonight in LA at the Nokia Theatre.

The petite actress chose an intricate black Julien MacDonald Fall 2011 dress.

Her gothic look features a high lace neckline, a short skirt in the front and an overlay in the back with a longer train.

Selena brightened up her dark ensemble by adding gold accessories, including Brian Atwood pumps, a Judith Leiber metallic box clutch, Lorraine Schwartz Ofira gold drop earrings with black stones and a gorgeous black and gold Lorraine Schwartz Ofira cuff.

She finished her look by pulling her hair back into a casual bun and wearing pink lip-gloss.

I love Selena’s accessories but think her dress is a little too sophisticated for the MTV VMA Awards.

I wish she had opted for something brighter, younger and more fun.

The gorgeous Emmanuelle Chriqui attended the Season 8 Premiere of “Entourage” at the Beacon Theatre in New York City last night.

She opted to wear a sexy Julien Macdonald dress.

The red orange gown with a beaded black collar was paired with Stuart Weitzman ‘Fever’ pump which are covered in black crystals.

She gets a 7 for the dress, but nil points for the shoes.

A dress with a central split almost demands a strappy sandal. I’m truly baffled by the decision to wear pointy pumps.

This could’ve been a contender.

A sweeping updo, a black clutch plus Lorraine Schwartz and OFIRA jewelry completed her look.
