Red Carpet Fashion Awards

Michelle Obama and Samantha Cameron reunited today in London to serve food to members of the military during a barbecue in the garden of 10 Downing Street.

Michelle opted to wear a Tracy Reese Pre-Fall 2011 dress which I don’t think was quite the right choice for a barbecue on a sunny day.

The crystal-embellished black chiffon dress has a white print detail on the bodice, cuffs and skirt.

Despite the lightweight fabric, the look still feels so heavy when you compare Michelle to Samantha.

Samantha’s Jonathan Saunders Spring 2011 short sleeve dress with a green waistband was much more summery and appropriate for the event.

Love that both women supported designers from their respective countries.

I have been waiting for a look from the Stéphane Rolland Spring 2011 Couture collection to be showcased on the red carpet ever since I attended the show back in January.

My wait is finally over as Miriam Yeung attended the 2011 Hong Kong Film Awards last night wearing an amazing sculptural gown.

I surprised at how this gown with a gold detail on the hip doesn’t appear to overwhelm her. She totally owns it and looks very comfortable.

Whilst I’m happy to see this look on the red carpet, I’m sad that this now mean there’s less chance of Cate or Tilda wearing it.

Thankfully there are many more amazing pieces from this collection for them to choose from. Read more…

The surprising thing about this edition of WWIB? is that Teresa Palmer wore this Jonathan Saunders Spring 2011 dress first.

Usually that honour would go to someone like Thandie Newton who wore the same dress a few months later.

Teresa attended the 2010 GQ “Men of the Year” Party at the Chateau Marmont in LA back in November.

The new kid on the block wore her grey and turquoise printed dress, which was accented with a black grosgrain belt, with a black clutch and black pumps which disappear into the black carpet.

Thandie also opted to carry a black clutch when she attended InStyle’s Best of British Talent BAFTA party at Shoreditch House in London late January.

Despite not being a fan of white heels, I much prefer them to Teresa black heels, so Thandie easily wins for me. Plus this type of look is typically Thandie and she totally owns the look.

The second Cartier ‘Travel with Style’ Concours showcased an extraordinary collection of India’s unique Classic Cars on Saturday at The Polo Grounds, New Delhi.

Jury Member Yasmin Le Bon and daughter Amber soaked up the atmosphere at the event.

The weather looks absolutely divine. I’m so jealous.

Yasmin kept cool wearing a Diane von Furstenberg Spring 2011 one-shoulder silk print dress with gold peep-toes.

Her daughter – who could easily pass as her sister – opted for a Jonathan Saunders sleeveless print dress with a side split from the Resort 2011 collection, which she teamed with some cool shades.

The mother and daughter have height, beauty, perfect olive skin, brunette locks and great taste in clothes in common.

Don’t you just hate them? j/k

Carina Lau and Shu Qi attended the Polyface Entertainment Media Group official launch recently.

Whist they both opted for Roger Vivier pumps, they opted for very different looks.

Carina wore a very cute Jonathan Saunders Resort 2011 dress.

Her mini dress has a multicoloured graphic floral-print bodice and sheer sleeves. It’s a cute directional take on ladylike style.

Knowing these two ladies I would’ve expected Carina to wear this Gucci Spring 2011 dress and Shu Qi to opt for the cuter Jonathan Saunders dress.

But Shu Qi wore the bold Gucci dress with the block colours, gold obi belt and plunging neckline.

The only thing that lets Shu Qi down is her gold Roger Vivier pumps. This shoe deserves a strappy sandal and I think she should’ve worn her hair back with this look.

I prefer Shu Qi dress, but I prefer Carina’s overall look and styling.

Thandie Newton has yet to fail me on the red carpet.

This woman has perfection oozing from every pore.

She attended the InStyle Best of British Talent BAFTA party at Shoreditch House in London last night looking sensational wearing a Jonathan Saunders Spring 2011 mini dress.

Thandie removed the thin black leather belt from her sky blue and grey dress, which I think makes the look a lot more appealing.

The dress was paired with a black clutch and white shoes, which are usually an instant fail in my eyes, but Thandie makes them work.

The British actress has long been a fan of Jonathan Saunders and British designers in general, so I applaud her for her continual support of these designers on the red carpet.
