2017 CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund Awards Red Carpet Roundup

The stylish ladies were out in full force at the 2017 CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund Awards on Monday (November 6) in Brooklyn, New York.

Sara Sampaio: The Portuguese model charmed in a J Mendel Resort 2018 mini. The short shape and blush colour were enlivened with feathered appliqués. The dusty neutral tones and simple styling allowed the texture to be appreciated without the bird connotations.

Karlie Kloss:
Striking a shimmering statement, the model donned a Christian Dior frock. The long sleeves and ankle-length hemline had a prim feel, but the geometric pattern and shimmering details added much allure.

Lauren Santo Domingo: Also in a feathered confection, the Moda Operandi cofounder was clad in Calvin Klein Fall 2017. Similar to Sara, the textured look had a sophisticated finish thanks to the blush-toned feathers but hers were accented with red and yellow. Given the lightness of the dress, I would have preferred a softer shoe without the black details. You may remember that Julianne Moore wore this same dress to the Met Gala.

Dakota Fanning In J. Mendel – ‘Please Stand By’ Rome Film Fest Premiere

Dakota Fanning gave us her third look of the 12th Rome Film Fest this evening for the ‘Please Stand By’ premiere in Italy.

After going glam last night, it was back to simple elegance for Dakota in J. Mendel.

Fairy-tale gowns are the Fannings signature, yet this Spring 2018 gown demonstrates a more modern, grownup interpretation which feels so very effortless and ultra feminine.

I love how the gown flows from the nipped-in waist into a fluttering skirt that swirls with every step and how she opted for natural makeup and diamond jewels to complete the look.

Some might object to the ponytail, but for me it gives the look a fresh feel.

Christian Serratos In J. Mendel – ‘The Walking Dead’ 100th Episode Premiere

‘The Walking Dead’ 100th episode premiere and party on Sunday (October 22) in Los Angeles had some captivating looks with Danai Gurira in a whimsical print and Christian Serratos in shimmering tiers.

When I first saw this J. Mendel Fall 2017 gown, I was struck by the ruffled skirt decorated with cascading sequins. The way the skirt slightly tapered in as opposed to flaring out was unique and gave the dress a striking shape.

However, the sparkling embellishment couldn’t distract me from the nude fabric. There’s something slightly off and she ends up looking washed out. The neutral makeup and lighting don’t help matters. Had the dress been a few shades darker — or if she wore a bold lipstick — this would have been close to perfection. That being said, it’s still up there.

Joanne Froggatt In J. Mendel – BFI Luminous Fundraising Gala

Shimmering in silver, Joanne Froggatt was in attendance at the BFI Luminous Fundraising Gala on Tuesday (October 3) in London.

The actress recently experimented with sleek suiting, but her J. Mendel Fall 2017 dress was a return to her penchant for wearing classic, feminine dresses.

The heavily embellished number featured sheer sleeves and silver fringing which lent a futuristic armor finish to the dress.

The runway version presented a sheerer bodice which I actually think would have benefited Joanne’s dress as the lining loses some of the crisscross details.

Simple silver sandals balanced the statement dress.

Keri Russell In J. Mendel – 2017 Emmy Awards

Keri Russell attended the 2017 Emmy Awards on Sunday (September 17) in Los Angeles.

For the big night, Keri chose a J. Mendel Resort 2018 gown and geometric earrings.

This is one of those subtle gowns that kind of sneaks up on you. At first glance, it’s just a long, black gown, but would you look at those details? The lace and feathers are both dramatic and understated at once, and Keri brings this to life perfectly.

Her loose waves and simple makeup are the perfect pairing for this look and it all reminds us that sometimes, a second glance gives you plenty of excitement.

Rashida Jones In J. Mendel – 2017 Emmy Awards

Lovely in lavender, Rashida Jones was at the 2017 Emmy Awards on Sunday (September 17) in LA.

This particular shade of lilac isn’t one we see with frequency on the red carpet, but I think that’s what made this J. Mendel gown stand out despite its more subdued silhouette.

The sliver cutout at the bust did deliver subtle allure, and the fringed, plisse skirt was must have flowed beautifully as she walked.

I love that she opted for such a sleek, modern ’do and that rich, mulberry lip—not to mention Lorraine Schwartz jewels—to bring a more dramatic finish to the dress.

Sarah Gadon In J. Mendel & Rebecca Liddiard In Lucian Matis – ‘Alias Grace’ Toronto Film Festival Premiere

Given the buzz surrounding ‘Alias Grace,’ a Netflix series inspired by Margaret Atwood’s novel of the same name, I was excited to see what its stars were going to wear to the premiere at the Toronto Film Festival on Thursday (September 14).

Sarah Gadon: The actress went for glamour in J. Mendel Fall 2017. The navy tulle and slashes of black on the skirt added some intrigue to the prim princess silhouette.

Rebecca Liddiard:
Contrasting her co-star, Rebecca chose a below-the-knee Lucian Matis dress decorated with wispy black flowers. She toughened up the ensemble with black booties and a plum lip. The shoes were neither here nor there for me, and I wished that she would have went with a more directional boot to really contrast the demure dress.

Did you expect more from the looks?
