Cheryl Cole In Jil Sander & Temperley London - X Factor London Auditions

Cheryl Cole was back at the Emirates Stadium today (June 24) for the London auditions of The X Factor.

Following this weekend’s look, the judge stuck with black and white, wearing a boxy Jil Sander Spring 2014 basket-weave cotton crop top with a split at the front and back.

Styled with another pair of tuxedo trousers, this time from Temperley London, the black tapered design have side pockets which give the piece a draped effect.

Taking the sophistication of this look up several levels, she added a gold tribal-style Balmain quilted-effect gold-plated necklace which looks like it could almost be part of the top.

White pumps rounded out this look.

Even with the pumps, I love this from head to toe. This is my favourite look from her so far.

Diane Kruger Shop Her Look3

Diane Kruger’s off-duty style has one common feature: her white Jil Sander ‘JIL’ bag.

The pure, sophisticated design is simple, yet it packs a punch as a powerful statement bag.

Featuring flat brass hardware, a shoulder strap, soft leather lining and hand-painted edges, and crafted in signature French box calf for its high quality and smooth surface, the German actress was recently spotted carrying the bag with her MiH ‘The Patch’ pocket dress as well as on three other occasions which all, coincidentally, featured denim.

Hopefully she’s not a klutz like me, who ends up getting denim dye all over her bag; that’s how I ruined my canvas Celine ‘Boston’ bag.

GQ 1

Excluding Eddie Redmayne, the GQ Men Of The Year Awards held at The Royal Opera House in London yesterday evening was awash with handsome men in dark suits.

Justin Timberlake (in Tom Ford) and Pharrell Williams (in Lanvin) both opted for textured suits with bow ties jazzing up the traditional tux, while David Gandy kept it simple and classic in his Henry Poole & Co. bespoke three-piece suit.

Michael Shannon In Jil Sander - 'Man of Steel' World Premiere

Michael Shannon joined his co-stars Henry Cavill and Amy Adams on the red carpet for the world premiere of ‘Man of Steel’ held at Alice Tully Hall at Lincoln Center in New York City on Monday evening.

The steely-blue-eyed actor, who plays General Zod, looked very dapper wearing a Jil Sander dark-grey-green suit.

He styled his suit with a white Eton of Sweden shirt, adding a touch of colour with a moss-green Alexander Olch tie, and completing his look with classic black Cole Haan wingtip shoes with a twist, featuring a white sole.

Is it me, or could Michael Shannon pass as Richard Kiel’s son; the actor who played Jaws in the James Bond films ‘The Spy Who Loved Me’ and ‘Moonraker’?

Victoria Beckham Jil Sander - JFK

No sooner had the Beckhams settled back into London life than Victoria Beckham was spotted landing at JFK airport in New York City on Sunday with the adorable Harper.

The mini fashionista wore a cosy navy coat, while mummy braved the cold to go sans coat to show off her colour-coordinated look – thankfully.

Victoria wore a Jil Sander maroon dress with navy satin sleeves, which she styled with her favourite Giuseppe Zanotti knee-length boots.

I love everything about this look, from the colour to the relaxed silhouette. I’m so thankful her all-black phase is over. This colour is gorgeous against her brunette tresses.

Signature shades completed her look.

Victoria is in town to present her Victoria Beckham and Victoria, Victoria Beckham Fall 2013 collections during New York Fashion Week.

Jil Sander Elle UK copy

Eight years ago Jil Sander left her successful fashion brand and watched from the sidelines as other designers steered it. Now she’s back, to finish what she started. The queen of minimalism chats with Elle UK on her return to Jil Sander, her thoughts on Raf Simons’ time at the label, her techniques to ageing gracefully and her joy of minimal style.

Below are some interview highlights. You can read the whole interview in the Elle UK March 2013 issue which is on sale tomorrow.

On what she did after she left Jil Sander: “I did many things. I travelled a lot, to places in Russia, Iran, Africa and the Near East, which I had always longed to see, but never found the leisure time to go. I read a lot and dedicated more time to my garden, but I also kept in touch with the arts and my professional work. It took some time to decide on the right move among the offers that came in quite regularly.”

On whether Raf Simons was a good fit to take over her role at Jil Sander when she left: “Yes, since he had great respect for the heritage of the brand.”

On how fashion has changed in her decade long absence: “The past decade was a time of disorientation. Stylistically, fashion moved more backwards than forwards. Economically though, things changed a lot. Globalisation triggered the huge accessories market.”

On why minimalism is seeing resurgence in fashion: “In a serious economic situation like this, people opt for understatement. They don’t feel like disguising and ‘dressing up.”

On whether she has any failsafe clothing in her wardrobe: “I only have failsafe clothing in my wardrobe. Except maybe high heels, which I wear for official evening invitations.”

On the three items she couldn’t live without: “A white shirt, dark jeans and a tailored navy coat.”

On her ethos on ageing: “To live simply, follow your dreams and never forget that anything can happen around the next corner. But the most important thing for me is to stay creative.”
