After the Michael Angel show I had 15 mins to get to Jason Wu’s Fall 2010 presentation. Usually this is plenty of time to get across town, but the traffic was a nightmare – we didn’t move for 10 mins.
When I arrived with Bryan Boy and other late comers we were told that the show was about to start so they wouldn’t let us in.
Then a very dapper Derek Blasberg arrived with Pop Editor Dasha Zhukova. He made one phone call and we all got in.
Oohh to have that much power.
Menswear inspired looks were the surprise on the very long pink runway of Jason Wu’s Fall 2010 presentation, with oversized coats, tapered pants and plaid jackets.
The designer who once told me he’s a very much a girlie girl designer stayed true to his roots presenting sweet, feminine, and playful dresses and gowns.
Feathers is a recurring theme for the designer, and this time we saw them woven into halter dresses and off-the-shoulder dresses.
The invitation for this presentation was dipped in gold, so it wasn’t a surprise to see this also on the runway splattered and applied to several looks.
It was a interesting presentation with a mix of masculine/unpredictable and feminine/predictable pieces.
Did you like the very obvious change in direction?
Here’s my video of the finale. Karlie moves like an elegant swan in her gown.
Amanda Peet and Kerry Washington were in the front row perfectly epitomizing the collection in their contrasting looks.
It’s been said that whenever Anne Hathaway is in a Best Dressed poll she always wins.
That theory was shattered to pieces this week as Diane Kruger won wearing the mustard Jason Wu gown she wore to the SAG Awards this time last week.
Their was a debate as to whether Diane had attempted to recreate Michelle Williams’ 2006 Vera Wang Oscar magic, but it looks like we loved Diane none the less.
We loved her grace, her poise and the unusual colour which ensured she stood out on the SAG Awards red carpet.
Newly single Reese Witherspoon showed no signs of the ‘break up blues’ as she walked the red carpet at the Saks’ Unforgettable Evening Benefiting EIF’s Women’s Cancer Research Fund at the Beverly Wilshire Four Seasons Hotel last night.
I love the Jason Wu Pre-Fall 2010 dress with a beautiful black lace overlay and black satin belt, but I prefer the length of this dress on the runway.
In saying that I couldn’t see Reese sporting such a short dress, so the dress works very well for her and the length is event appropriate.
What I would’ve liked to have seen was a different hairstyle. It feels like she’s hasn’t changed it since her break up with Ryan Phillippe.
An up do would’ve worked well with this look.
Lengthening the dress. Was that an upgrade or downgrade for Reese?
Rachel Weisz also attended “The South Bank Show Awards” yesterday.
Unlike Rachel Stevens, Weisz opted for a less graphical look.
She wore a black silk sleeveless Jason Wu dress with designers now signature satin belt.
The blue satin belt makes this look work for me, because as you know I love a pop of colour.
Black Louboutin pumps complete the look.
Congratulations to Rachel as she was named best actress at this year’s “Critics’ Circle Theatre Awards” for appearing in “A Streetcar Named Desire”, which also took place yesterday.
