Rosario Dawson In Houghton – 2013 NCLA ALMA Awards

Rosario Dawson In Houghton – 2013 NCLA ALMA Awards

Rosario Dawson attended the 2013 NCLA ALMA Awards, held at the Pasadena Civic Auditorium in California last night.

The actress was honoured with the Outstanding Commitment to Cause and Community award for her activism in the Latino community.

Classic and sophisticated, she accepted her trophy in a Houghton Fall 2013 strapless, black gown with a bustier bodice and ball-gown-inspired skirt.

A dress this simple could have been easily forgettable. But Rosario worked the design to more memorable effect, taking advantage of the pockets and simply accessorizing with colourful, gemstone earrings and a wavy long bob—and a radiant smile.

Emily Deschanel In Houghton – 2013 Emmy Awards

Emily Deschanel

Emily Deschanel rocked the lace trend on the red carpet at the 2013 Emmy Awards.

The ‘Bones’ actress wore a custom vegan, one-sleeve Houghton gown in a gorgeous slate gray.

Her easy updo, pink lips and bold eye are a fresh and flattering beauty look and the perfect compliment to the gown.

And keeping in the theme of her gown, Emily wore custom vegan dyeable peep-toe ALDO pumps.

Spring 2014 New York Fashion Week Front Row – Day 2

Spring 2014 New York Fashion Week Front Row – Day 2

With New York Fashion Week fully under way, the FROW regulars are coming out to play. Here, a look at yesterday’s statement-making starlets in the chic seats at the Spring 2014 shows.

Ashley Madekwe @ Cushnie et Ochs: The ‘Revenge’ actress made waves at the Cushnie et Ochs presentation at Milk Studios in a fiery red-orange frock from the label, which is immediately recognizable for the cutout detail. The peekaboo double-slash through the center of the dress has sultriness and edge without being try-hard or distracting. The same goes for her effortless styling, including a swept-back ‘do, minimal makeup and a barely-there pair of black, skinny strap Saint Laurent sandals.

Taylor Momsen @ Helmut Lang: Wearing her go-to colour—black—the actress-cum-singer covered up in a Helmut Lang sweater-and-skirt ensemble at the brand’s show. The knee-high lace-up boots, not to mention her bed-head platinum waves and red under-eye shadow, which replaced her favoured smokey, raccoon eyes, added the rocker-rebel vibe that currently defines her style.

Solange Knowles @ Noon By Noor: Giving us one of the more spirited looks of the day, the songstress naturally wore a printed ensemble from the Noon By Noor Resort 2014 collection, when she attended the young brand’s show, held at The Studio at Lincoln Center. The playful palm-tree blazer and wide trouser shorts, mixed with the embroidered flamingos on the blue shirt, had a retro, fun flair only boosted by Sophia Webster’s pink-edged ‘Leilou’ T-strap sandals, which she wore with black socks.

Lily Collins In Houghton – ‘The Mortal Instruments: City Of Bones’ Madrid Premiere

Lily Collins In Houghton – ‘The Mortal Instruments City Of Bones’ Madrid Premiere

After feeling a tad disappointed by Lily Collins’ photocall look, she brought back the wow factor for ‘The Mortal Instruments: City Of Bones’ Madrid premiere held at Callao Cinema in Spain yesterday evening.

Houghton is swiftly becoming the go-to designer for starlets such as Lily, Lucy Hale and Selena Gomez.

On this occasion the designer, Katharine Polk, created this vibrant red sleeveless Chantilly-lace top, bralet and skirt with a high-low hem especially for the girl of the moment.

Her ensemble was modern but she gave the look an old Hollywood feel, sporting retro waves complete with a fire-engine-red pout.

Platform pumps have been her shoe of choice during this promo tour; however, she selected a pair of hot-red Christian Louboutin ‘Batignolles’ pumps sans platform on this occasion.

A striking Jacob & Co. diamond ring completed her look.

If you would put one of Lily’s looks up for BDOTW which would it be?

Best Dressed Of The Week – Zhang Ziyi in Vionnet, Lily Collins in Houghton & Ashley Madekwe in Diane Von Furstenberg

BDOTW 1

It was a tie this week, as you couldn’t decide between Zhang Ziyi’s bright-orange Vionnet frock and Lily Collins’ backless Houghton gown.

The looks couldn’t be more different: Ziyi’s was sexy and flirty, while Lily’s possessed an ethereal goddess quality.

My pick was Ashley Madekwe in her Diane von Furstenberg jumpsuit, you won’t be surprised to learn. Even though I hate this word, the best word to sum up this look is ‘fierce’, feline fierce, with plenty of sex appeal and attitude to boot, with impeccable styling and flawless makeup putting the icing on this tasty cake.

Our menswear choices differed too. You went for the sleek suaveness of Liam Hemsworth in his ice-blue suit, whereas Robert Sheehan in his paisley-print Dent De Man suit was always going to be a winner for me.

Lily Collins In Houghton – ‘The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones’ Toronto Premiere

Lily Collins In Houghton - 'The Mortal Instruments City of Bones' Toronto Premiere

Lily Collins stunned again while taking to the red carpet for the Toronto premiere of ‘The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones’ on Thursday evening.

She was a vision in white, wearing a French-guipure-lace long-sleeved Houghton Fall 2013 gown with a sexy open back.

A delicate silver-chain headband was wrapped around her twisted updo and she opted to keep the same dark-berry manicure with a gold-glitter overlay first seen at the LA premiere, while also working a shimmering pink lip colour and rosy cheeks.

I am continually in awe of how she outdoes herself.

Lily Collins In Fausto Puglisi & Houghton – 2013 Teen Choice Awards

Lily Collins In Fausto Puglisi - 2013 Teen Choice Awards

Lily Collins worked the high-low trend on the red carpet at the 2013 Teen Choice Awards at the Gibson Amphitheatre in Universal City, California on Sunday evening.

Like Bella Thorne, Lily wore a palm-print look from the same Fausto Puglisi Resort 2014 collection. Instead of working a full palm-print look, Lily teamed her white-and-coral skirt featuring a flowing train with a black silk short-sleeved top from Houghton’s Resort 2014 collection.

Her decision was the right one to ensure the look wasn’t overly fussy. Which may also be the reason why the bold-lip-colour-loving actress opted for a barely there look, with just striking cat-eyes and a beautiful beehive bouffant accented with a black Alice band.

Black Brian Atwood ‘Zenith’ pumps did nothing to upstage the main focus of the look, which was her skirt; however, I find them to be a tad heavy for the overall look in comparison with the pair worn by the model.

Graziela Gems earrings and EF Collection rings and bangles provided the finishing touches.

I know many of you don’t like high-low (mullet) skirts, so how do you feel about this look?
