Red Carpet Fashion Awards

Irish TV presenter for MTV Europe Laura Whitmore was one of the many guests to support Scottish designers at the Scottish Fashion Awards this week in Glasgow.

Top designers such as Amanda Wakeley, Jonathan Saunders, Graeme Black, Antonio Berardi, Markus Lupfer, Peter Jensen, Holly Fulton and Louise Gray attended the event, but Laura opted for a Graeme Black Fall 2009 dress.

Her strapless LBD dress would’ve stood out on the red carpet with the gold embroidered details which she complemented with a stack of gold bracelets.

As you know I’m not a fan of ankle boots on the red carpet, but with her messy hair and attitude it totally works with her look.

Graeme Black’s Spring 2010 presented an Indian fantasy collection inspired by a Maharajah’s turban.

As a result we saw a vibrant mix of colours and textures.

The colour palette consisted of ruby red, bright turquoise, tangy oranges and luscious lime greens.

Stand out pieces included a green cut-out jacket paired with white jodhpurs, an asymmetrical dress with an embellished bodice, and the finale organza gown which had striped silks wrapped around the bodice, plus it was paired with a maroon knitted bolero.

The stunning jewels courtesy of Moussaieff had us all cooing with delight. They were well protected by about 20 bodyguards backstage.

I went backstage to get a close up of the collection and those lust worthy Brian Atwood heels.

You may recognise the studded heels to the right, as they’ve been worn by Sarah Jessica Parker on the Sex And The City 2 set recently.

These Loca pumps are from Brian Atwood’s resort collection. Form an orderly queue ladies.

If you’re thinking that you’ve heard me talking about Graeme Black before, that’s because Victoria Beckham is a huge fan of his work.

The show was held at an art gallery with a beautiful backdrop of large drawings of the 16th century Mughal capital Fatehpur Sikri.

Nicola Roberts from UK girl group Girls Aloud, wore this Graeme Black short ruched mini dress, when she attended the 2008 Music Industry Trust Awards in London last year.

Nicole is not one to steal the spotlight, but she’s also not one to stand in the shade. Even if she did you would still notice this cute mini dress.

The peachy mini has contrasting cream straps, ruching on the bodice, and a bubble hemline. I like Nicole’s idea of wearing this dress with a belt, but not the chain Chanel part of the belt.

How would you wear this dress?

Find out by purchasing it from Browns Fashion for £1,475/€1,593.22/$2,109.99.
