Celebrities Love…Givenchy Bambi Sweaters

Celebrities Love Givenchy Bambi Sweaters

Cute and completely edgy: Such is the character of Givenchy’s Bambi-and-female-form print sweater that has created a veritable Disney land among the fashion world keen to channel a more daring version of the beloved deer.

A less ferocious incarnation of Givenchy’s onetime ubiquitous Rottweiler shirt from Fall 2011, the animated, Bambi motif jumper is also now pervading the modish masses.

The dark, lacy interpretation of the Disney icon was first trotted out by style plate Carine Roitfeld at this year’s punkish Met Gala, followed by a recent return appearance during Spring 2014 New York Fashion Week.

Songstress Monica took the sweater out for a more casual spin with her young son. Playing the cool mom, she paired it with a denim shirt wrapped round her waist along with leather leggings and an intense pair of Christian Louboutin’s leopard-print spiked sneakers.

Actress Lily Collins and editrix Anna Dello Russo both clad themselves in the cartoon for the Givenchy show during Spring 2014 Paris Fashion Week, each also taking the versatile piece from sweater to a leggier sweater-dress.

Cheryl Cole In Givenchy – London Heathrow Airport

Cheryl Cole In Givenchy - London Heathrow Airport

Cheryl Cole was spotted at London’s Heathrow Airport earlier today, catching a flight to Germany.

Like Anna Dello Russo and Lily Collins, the ‘Call My Name’ singer opted to wear her Givenchy Fall 2013 abstract print sweater as a mini dress; styling the look with Stuart Weitzman ‘5050’ over-the-knee boots, red-tinted aviator sunglasses, a Kenneth Jay Lane Gunmetal-plated crystal necklace and a black shoulder bag.

I’m not surprised to see Cheryl jump on this is-it-a-dress-no-it’s-a-sweater trend as she has always considered herself stylish and on-trend.

What do you think? Would you wear this sweater as a dress?

You may remember that Ciara wore this same sweater while perched front row at Givenchy’s Spring 2014 show during Paris Fashion Week.

Anna Dello Russo @ Paris Fashion Week Part II

ADR 1

Fashion month wouldn’t be half as entertaining without Anna Dello Russo, so let’s catch up with our favourite fashion editor.

Christian Dior: Anna Dello Russo has been a fan of Fausto Puglisi long before the likes of Lily Collins and Bella Thorne fell for the designer’s charms. Once again she donned a Spring 2014 look fresh off the Milan runway, selecting a blue-and-black dress with a sculptured flared skirt with sequin palm-tree embellishments, styled with her favourite Tom Ford sandals.

Valentino: The quirk factor has been missing from Anna’s street-style repertoire for a few seasons – remember the season she loved wearing fruit on her head? Here her love for fancy hats returns, donning a black cap with Mickey Mouse ears with her Valentino Fall 2013 black-and-white look featuring Valentino black dress with a contrasting leather collar and cuffs with the Valentino patent-leather-and-suede T-bar pumps which are a favourite among the fashion set.

Celine: Having worn a top-to-toe Celine look last week, Anna selected another Pre-Fall 2013 look, donning a loose-fitted suit featuring a double-breasted blazer accented with gold buttons styled with black shoes with a gold-metal plate and her straw boater.

Givenchy: Anna jumped on the Bambi bandwagon at Givenchy. Like Lily Collins, she also opted to wear her sweater as a dress, adding a studded belt.

Front Row @ Paris Fashion Week

Front Row @ Paris Fashion Week

Here is a brief look at some of the lovely ladies who have been perched on the front row during Paris Fashion Week.

Ciara @ Givenchy: The singer, who has been both a muse for and a fan of the house of Givenchy for quite some time, donned a Fall 2013 look including a Givenchy abstract print sweater and a sexy Givenchy sheer Muslin skirt with a flounced hem.

Olivia Palermo @ Chloe: The socialite, who has been wearing a lot more high end than high street this season, donned a Chloe Fall 2013 navy blouse with polka-dot sheer panels with a light-blue Chloe Pre-Fall 2013 skirt styled with tan boots and a tan belt.

Lily Collins @ Givenchy: Opting to go goth with her ghostly makeup and berry lip colour, Lily donned the Givenchy Bambi print neoprene sweatshirt synonymous with the Fall 2013 collection as a mini dress. The Bambi-collage-print Givenchy clutch was a touch unimaginative, with black sandals completing the look.

January Jones In Givenchy – 2013 Emmy Awards

January Jones In Givenchy - 2013 Emmy Awards

January Jones attended the 2013 Emmy Awards on Sunday night in LA with alongside her ‘Mad Men’ co-stars Jessica Pare and Kiernan Shipka.

We have seen the sexy, and the edgy side of January Jones; this time she opted for a very romantic look wearing a custom rose-pink Givenchy strapless dress with a floral lace skirt inspired by the Resort 2014 collection.

The dress is gorgeous, but on this occasion I’m totally blown away by the hair and makeup. Her glam squad really did her proud on this occasion.

Who Wore Givenchy Couture Better…Mariacarla Boscono or Ciara?

Who Wore Givenchy Couture Better Mariacarla Boscono or Ciara

Model Mariacarla Boscono attended the ‘Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty’ Costume Institute Gala held at The Metropolitan Museum Of Art back in 2011 with designer Riccardo Tisci, wearing a look from Givenchy’s Fall 2010 Couture collection.

Cut to last month, and Ciara donned the same sheer second-skin gown with dazzling embellishments and a feather-accented skirt to the 2013 MTV Video Music Awards.

With both opting for minimal makeup and wavy central-parted locks, I eventually went with Ciara as the details really pop against her skin tone.

Cate Blanchett In Givenchy Couture – ‘Blue Jasmine’ London Premiere

Cate Blanchett In Givenchy Couture - 'Blue Jasmine' London Premiere

Cate Blanchett attended the UK premiere of ‘Blue Jasmine’ held at the Odeon West End this evening in London.

As I hoped, the Australian actress did wear couture, selecting a look from Givenchy’s Fall 2012 collection, which was full of both drama and intrigue.

Her black cold-shoulder gown with a halter neckline, gold-embroidered details and cape back took a while to grow on me as my issue was – and still is – that it sits too low around the arms, rendering them useless.

But the gown is not supposed to be functional; it’s supposed to be a work of art, so on that basis you can’t help but be floored by it and admire how she manages to pull it off.
