Haute Couture Fall 2013 Red Carpet Wish List

Couture Wish List 1

With Fall 2013 Couture week behind us and the first piece already taken to the red carpet, here is a roundup of the looks I would love to see on the red carpet and who I would like to see wearing them.

Alexandre Vauthier Couture: This bedazzled and feathered confection has Grammys, Billboard Awards or MTV Music Awards written all over it, so this look gave me a bit of a conundrum. I would love to see it on Katy Perry because the blue would be divine against her pale skin and dark hair; however, with such a deep plunge and being so well endowed, it could be a wardrobe malfunction waiting to happen, so I switched my final choice to Jennifer Lopez, who would work that slit like no other.

Alexis Mabille Couture: While the burlesque queen Dita von Teese loves black, she does step out of her comfort zone from time to time. This puff-sleeved blouse and floral skirt combo would be a refreshing change. It would be too much to ask for the runway styling, as we all know she loves those retro waves and red lips, but I’m pretty confident she could pull this look off.

Zhang Ziyi In Giambattista Valli Couture – Le Grand Bal De La Comedie Francaise

Zhang Ziyi In Giambattista Valli Couture - Le Grand Bal De La Comedie Francaise

Zhang Ziyi attended Le Grand Bal De La Comedie Francaise held at La Comedie Francaise in Paris, France yesterday evening.

As you know, the Giambattista Valli Fall 2013 Couture show took place on Monday evening, and despite not attending the show, Ziyi snagged the first piece literally right off the runway.

Her strapless white couture gown with a long train and colourful floral appliqués had a very regal feel to it, so in keeping with the runway styling she opted to wear a Luigi Scialanga for Giambattista Valli gold tiara.

You guys have found Ziyi’s red carpet looks very hit and miss over the last few weeks, so does this return to her princessy ways get her back in your good books?

Pace Wu In Giambattista Valli Couture – Giambattista Valli Fall 2013 Couture Show

Pace Wu In Giambattista Valli - Giambattista Valli Fall 2013 Couture Show

Pace Wu joined Miroslava Duma in the front row for the Giambattista Valli Fall 2013 Couture show in Paris, France, which was held at the Grand Palais on Monday evening.

What I love about Pace Wu is her love of girlie-girl creations, as proven with this romantic Giambattista Valli Spring 2013 Couture strapless floral frock with a tulle layered overlay.

Her botanical frock was styled with a part-braided ‘do, silver jewels, silver sandals and a gold-clasp crystallized Alexander McQueen pink clutch.

I am not fond of mixing metals; however, I am so bowled over by the romanticism of her look I will give Pace a pass.

Kerry Washington In Giambattista Valli – 3rd Annual Celebrate Sundance Institute Los Angeles Benefit

Kerry Washington In Calvin Klein - 3rd Annual Celebrate Sundance Institute Los Angeles Benefit

Kerry Washington attended the 2013 ‘Celebrate Sundance Institute’ Los Angeles Benefit at The Lot in West Hollywood, California on Wednesday evening, where she presented the Vanguard Award to director Ryan Coogler.

You guys gave her a mixed reaction to her CFDA Fashion Awards gown, but I have a feeling there will be no such division with this all-white look.

Kerry wore a Giambattista Valli white sleeveless dress with an abstract lace overlay.

Opting for matching accessories, she carried a Nancy Gonzalez clutch and pointy pumps from Christian Louboutin.

Having gone au natural the last time she hit the red carpet, Kerry opted for kohl-rimmed eyes, luscious lashes and nude glossy lips on this occasion.

Hilary Swank In Giambattista Valli Couture – Life Ball 2013

Hilary Swank in Giambattista Valli Couture - Life Ball 2013

Hilary Swank navigated the 2013 Life Ball’s signature magenta carpet this past weekend at City Hall in Vienna, Austria.

For the exuberant occasion, which raises funds for HIV and AIDS causes, the actress put on her party best in top-to-toe Giambattista Valli.

Her Spring 2013 Couture silvery-grey cocktail dress was veiled in black zebra-stripe tulle overlay, giving it a slightly wild nature. The short frock was fun enough, although I believe it got a boost from the glittery pomp and pageantry that was carrying on in the background.

Longtime Giambattista Valli collaborator, jeweler Luigi Scialanga is the master responsible for gilding this look with a cinching, twisting belt of bronze feathers.

Lattice work ankle-strap heels were one step better than plain black pumps. But a more inspired metallic shoe would have provided a final flourish of gold leaf opulence.

Natural waves and neutral makeup completed the moment. Was anyone else craving a bolder lip or a strong eye for Hilary? It would have fit right in at this over-the-top occasion.
