2014 amfAR Milano 2014 Red Carpet Roundup

2014 amfAR Gala Red Carpet Roundup

Here is a roundup of the rest of the looks from the 2014 amfAR Gala held during Milan Fashion Week on Saturday (September 20).

Alessandra Ambrosio: Like Heidi Klum, Alessandra wore Versace, adding yet more va-va-voom to this red carpet. The sexy black beaded gown with a thigh-high slit was styled with an Elena Ghisellini clutch. You may remember that Freida Pinto wore this same gown back in 2012.

Coco Rocha: As always, everything comes to a grinding halt when Coco Rocha takes to the red carpet. Working a bold-shouldered Versace look, the model sashayed down the red carpet like the seasoned pro she is.

Julianne Moore In Giambattista Valli Couture – ‘Maps To The Stars’ Toronto Film Festival Premiere

Julianne Moore In Giambattista Valli Couture - 'Maps To The Stars' Toronto Film Festival Premiere

Julianne Moore attended the red carpet premiere of the film ‘Maps to the Stars’ at the 2014 Toronto International Film Festival on Tuesday (September 9) in Toronto, Canada.

For the event, the star chose to wear a dramatically draped Giambattista Valli gown from the Fall 2014 Couture collection.

I love this asymmetrical, draped approach to the very stiff, structural cape trend we’ve been seeing of late. It’s high-fashion and very striking.

Julianne’s sleek updo, carefully placed cocktail ring and diamond earrings and dramatic eye makeup are the icing on top of this delicious fashion cake.

It’s all very Old Hollywood, and it’s oh-so-glamorous.

Best Dressed Of The Week – Lizzy Caplan In Donna Karan Atelier, Emma Stone In Valentino Couture, Allison Williams In Giambattista Valli Couture & Nikolaj Coster-Waldau In Salvatore Ferragamo

Best Dressed Of The Week - Lizzy Caplan In Donna Karan Atelier, Emma Stone In Valentino Couture

It was a week where glamour came back to the red carpet, with the Emmy Awards and the Venice Film Festival, and it’s from those two events that you couldn’t separate your favourites.

Lizzy Caplan swept you away in her Donna Karan Atelier black and white gown and Emma Stone was breathtaking making her return to the red carpet with a new ‘do in Valentino Couture.

I, on the other hand, had narrowed my favourites down to four. After much deliberation I picked Allison Williams in her enchanting Giambattista Valli Couture gown, which may have been too princessey for some, but this look swept me away.

There were many fine gents in suits this week. Mostly all black, so how do you pick them apart?

By the impeccable tailoring, slight detailing – such as contrasting buttons, a pocket square and straight bow tie – and of course devilishly good looks play their part, so up steps Nikolaj Coster-Waldau in Salvatore Ferragamo to collect his prize for the win.

Michelle Monaghan In Giambattista Valli Couture – 2014 Emmy Awards

Michelle Monaghan In Giambattista Valli Couture – 2014 Emmy Awards

Michelle Monaghan, who made an impact this year as Maggie in ‘True Detective,’ was part of the all-white fashion trend at the 2014 Emmy Awards on Monday (August 25) at Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles.

Michelle’s simple long-sleeved gown from Giambattista Valli Fall 2014 Couture allowed her to reveal a flash of leg thanks to a front-split skirt. Her loose wavy hair and gold Christian Louboutin ‘Just On’ sandals add a touch of Hollywood glamour. Other accessories include a metallic M2Malletier clutch and Irene Neuwirth jewelry.

The runway version of this look included a gold medallion belt and long matching cape. Do you favor Michelle’s pared-down version?

Allison Williams In Giambattista Valli Couture – 2014 Emmy Awards

Allison Williams added some major interest to the red carpet of the 2014 Emmy Awards tonight (August 25) at the Nokia Theatre L.A. Live in Los Angeles.

The ‘Girls’ star wore a dramatic Giambattista Valli Spring 2014 Couture gown that featured several points of interest.

I can’t say enough about how much I love this look. It is such a dramatic gown while remaining understated–no crazy colors or designs, but still so visually intriguing.

To accompany the gown, she wore Brian Atwood ‘Tribeca’ sandals and subtle Van Cleef & Arpels jewels.

A simple updo, and classic makeup complete the look.

And can I just give a shout-out to Allison’s impeccable posture? She looks regal!

Lena Dunham In Giambattista Valli Couture – 2014 Emmy Awards

66th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards - Arrivals

Lena Dunham made a grand entrance at the 2014 Emmy Awards at the Nokia Theatre L.A. Live in Los Angeles, California on Monday (August 25).

Forgive my sensory overload, but where to even begin?

The ‘Girls’ star gave a whole new meaning to the word ‘bold’ in her daring Giambattista Valli Fall 2014 Couture finale number that featured a baby-pink blouse with a Peter Pan collar paired with a ballgown skirt… and what a skirt it was.

The voluminous piece was an extravaganza of layered tulle tiers, creating a pink-to-red ombre effect that ran reverse of the runway colours, making it perhaps even more reminiscent of fluffy cotton-candy.

Fred Leighton jewels may have been lost in the sea of froth and frou-frou, but Lena’s new beauty look carved out its own statement. Her white-platinum bob is an edgy new direction for her, but she could have done with less makeup as her dark kohl-outlined eye and red lip were too heavy here.

This is an Emmys ensemble that will be remembered for years to come—for better or worse. What do you make of it?

Amanda Peet In Giambattista Valli – 2014 Emmy Awards

Amanda Peet In Giambattista Valli - 2014 Emmy Awards

Amanda Peet positively glowed on the Red Carpet at the 2014 Emmy Awards in Los Angeles on Monday (August 25). Her long flowing chiffon dress from Giambattista Valli Pre-Fall 2014—the perfect choice for a warm summer evening–revealed that Amanda and husband David Benioff are expecting their third child.

Designer Giambattista Valli is known for ladylike design with a laid-back vibe. Amanda’s sweet frock featured an empire waist, cap sleeves and an all-over floral print. She opted not to wear the matching satin coat that was shown on the runway and we applaud that decision.

Simple styling, including drop earrings, a small white clutch and white sandals, kept the focus on Amanda’s baby bump.
