Kristin Scott Thomas In Giambattista Valli – ‘Only God Forgives’ Cannes Film Fesitval Photocall

Kristin Scott Thomas In Giambattista Valli - 'Only God Forgives' Cannes Film Fesitval Photocall

Kristin Scott Thomas was the first to hit the Palais des Festivals this morning for the ‘Only God Forgives’ photocall during Cannes Film Festival in France.

Opting for a ladylike look with plenty of Parisian flare, the British-French actress wore a Giambattista Valli summery look.

Opting for a pale-pink belted frock, the actress made an elegant first impression on this festival, styling her look with a multi-floral collarless blazer, gold hooped earrings and metallic pumps.

I have a feeling Kristin will also opt for a French brand for this evening’s premiere.

Kerry Washington In Giambattista Valli – Academy of Television Arts & Sciences’ Presents an Evening with ‘Scandal’

Kerry Washington In Giambattista Valli - Academy of Television Arts & Sciences' Presents an Evening with 'Scandal'

Joining her ‘Scandal’ co-stars, Kerry Washington attended the show’s Season Two finale event, hosted last week by the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences at the Leonard H. Goldenson Theatre in North Hollywood.

The actress, who generally impresses with her sartorial sense, hit a slightly less inspiring note in her Giambattista Valli Spring 2013 dress.

While the blushing hue of the frock was fresh, the shapeless, boatneck silhouette of the design fell flat on this glowing occasion, which saw the cast treat guests to a ‘table read’ of the ‘Scandal’ finale script.

The dress’s wilted bow at the waist and the rumpled, creased fabric didn’t help matters. Kerry may be able to make a burlap sack look good, but this look was really testing the theory.

A nip and a tuck—and an iron—were all this sporty-chic frock needed.

If I ignore the dress, I like the styling here—from the bracelet clutch to the sparkling statement ring to her beauty look. I don’t even mind those rosy-nude platform Lanvin heels, although they did precious little to pump in volume. Her Lanvin ‘Partition’ camera bag was an inspiring choice.

It seems like Kerry may have toned down the red highlights in her pretty long bob, and the blunt bang has made its return. Her makeup was radiant, too. Now, she just needed the outfit to match.

Sara Forestier In Giambattista Valli Couture – ‘Le Passe’ Cannes Film Festival Premiere

Sara Forestier In Giambattista Valli Couture - ‘Le Passe’ Cannes Film Festival Premiere

Sara Forestier took to the red carpet at the Palais des Festivals for the premiere for ‘Le Passé’ during the 2013 Cannes Film Festival in France this evening.

The French actress selected an on-trend black-and-white frock from the Giambattista Valli Spring 2013 Couture collection.

Her unique above-the-knee white dress with a double layered skirt and black velvet appliqués was styled with a delightful pair of ruby red t-bar pumps; however, I would have sacrificed those amazing pumps for a better hairstyle.

I’m not a fan of the limp ‘do with this gorgeous frock.

What say you?

Rooney Mara In Giambattista Valli – ‘The Great Gatsby’ Cannes Film Festival Party

Rooney Mara In Giambattista Valli - 'The Great Gatsby' Cannes Film Festival Party

There are so many events happening around Cannes Film Festival that it’s hard to keep up.

Rooney Mara attended ‘The Great Gatsby’ party following the premiere at the Quai Laubeuf on Wednesday evening.

Combining two of her favourite colours, black and white, she wore a Giambattista Valli jumpsuit from the Fall 2011 collection.

I love how this look is both edgy yet simple at the same time.

Like Marion Cotillard for Dior, it is great to see Rooney step outside of her Givenchy bubble for a refreshing change.

A signature pulled-back hairdo, barely there makeup and Jimmy Choo ‘Greta’ sandals completed her look.

This minimalist trend is really starting to grow on me. Words I never thought I would say.

Zhang Ziyi In Giambattista Valli Couture – Jury ‘Un Certain Regard’ Cannes Film Festival Photocall

Zhang Ziyi In Giambattista Valli Couture - Jury 'Un Certain Regard' Cannes Film Festival Photocall

We can all breathe a huge sigh of relief as it appears that Zhang Ziyi’s cropped ‘do from last night’s opening ceremony was just a wig.

This morning she returned to the Palais des Festivals for the Jury ‘Un Certain Regard’ photocall during Cannes Film Festival.

She looked exquisite wearing a Giambattista Valli Spring 2013 Couture dress featuring a sheer top and colourful patterned structured skirt with green embroidered leaf details throughout.

Yellow Louboutin pumps complement the hue of her skirt, with gold H.Stern jewels providing the finishing touches.

I know many of you disliked her spirited opening ceremony look, deeming it not worthy of the occasion; should she have swapped her photocall look with her previous look?

Jessica Biel In Giambattista Valli Couture – 2013 Met Gala

JessicaBiel

Like several other stars, Jessica Biel stuck to black for the 2013 Met Gala in New York City.

But, far from basic black was her strapless Giambattista Valli Spring 2013 Couture ensemble, worn with a wrist clutch and black slingback shoes from the design house.

The cinched-in, strapless bodice showed off Jessica’s small waist and stunning shoulders.

Then, came the drama with the mullet silhouette, which was shrouded in a flurry of tulle and a long train. Spiderweb-like leggings, as seen on the runway, increased the grunge-gorgeous meter here.

Maybe not wanting to competing with her couture gown, Jessica went for minimal, nude makeup and a sleek ponytail. No earrings and no necklace were part of this look, but a Fred Leighton cuff did make the cut.

Did you like Jessica’s plain and simple version of punk?

Queen Beatrix Of The Netherlands Abdication State Dinner

Queen Beatrix Of The Netherlands Abdication State Dinner

Many more royals took to the red carpet at Amsterdam’s Rijksmuseum for the dinner thrown by Queen Beatrix of the Netherlands to celebrate her abdication and her son’s investiture yesterday evening.

Crown Princess Mary of Denmark: As always, my heart did flutter when I saw Mary on the red carpet.
Looking nothing short of spectacular and every inch a modern princess, she wore a Birgit Hallstein gown, a designer she has worn a few times before. Her off-the-shoulder blush gown with an embellished bodice was accented with a satin waistband, with a Bottega Veneta clutch, Prada pumps and her wedding tiara completing her look.

Princess Mette-Marit of Norway: While this gorgeous floral confection didn’t take to the runway, the pretty print is distinctive of the Giambattista Valli Spring 2013 collection. I really love the simplicity of this look, as much as the more showy gowns at this event. Even her tiara was slightly modest compared to the others.

Katy Perry In Giambattista Valli Couture – 2013 White House Correspondents’ Association Dinner

Katy Perry In Giambattista Valli Couture - 2013 White House Correspondents' Association Dinner

Katy Perry was on her best fashion behavior at last night’s White House Correspondents’ Association Dinner in Washington, D.C.

She wore a conservative (for her!) Giambattista Valli Fall 2012 Couture silk draped gown.

Recently embarking on a blue-infused ‘The Smurfs 2’ promo circuit, the chameleon-like songstress changed her colours with this moss-green dress, which was a gorgeous hue with her jet-black locks.

I barely recognized the stripped-down version of this design from its runway predecessor, so covered it was in an embarrassment of flora and fauna.

She did keep one element of Katy-like quirk in the look in homage to the runway’s theatrical forest—the branch-inspired bronze belt. But it only whispered of the dress’s original garden state.

I could actually see the more free-spirited fashion side of Katy wearing the butterfly headpiece, but I’m glad she didn’t on this occasion.

Even her makeup, a classic winged eye and pink lip, was on the subdued side.
