SXSW Conference and Festival Weekend Roundup

A number of other stars were in Austin, Texas this past weekend for the start of the 2018 SXSW Conference and Festival. Here’s a look at what they were wearing.

Carla Gugino: The actress was a beauty in blue at the ‘Elizabeth Harvest’ premiere on Saturday (Marh 10) with this vibrant, high-low variation on the iconic Diane von Furstenberg floral wrap dress. I probably would have opted for a different shoe to let her red lip and matching envelope clutch be the accessories of note, rather than bring in the additional metallic shine factor.

Jamie Chung: Making a case for colourful stripes, this was such a graphically intrepid Ronny Kobo dress—and I loved its slightly dizzying effect at the ‘1985’ premiere on Friday (March 9).

AJ Michalka: At the ‘Support the Girls’ premiere on Friday (March 9), AJ turned up the charm in a Markarian ‘Theres’ dress. The only thing about this look was that I felt the black peep-toe shoes dragged it down somewhat.

The CFDA, WWD & Variety Celebrate Runway To Red Carpet Initiative

To celebrate the inaugural launch of the Runway to Red Carpet initiative, the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA), Variety and Women’s Wear Daily (WWD) hosted a star-studded luncheon on Tuesday (February 20) at the Chateau Marmont, which was sponsored by Karma Automotive.

A range of starlets were in attendance. However, if you had just looked at their ensembles, you’d never know they were at the same event—so diverse were their modes of dress.

Olivia Munn: I like the sunny outlook of this Veronica Beard Spring 2018 warm-weather-ready suit set, with the drawstring detailing adding an element of feminine allure. Obviously, the shorts didn’t stand up so well to the creases from sitting.

Lea Michele: Opting for a more romantically feminine offering, Lea wore a Zuhair Murad floral gown with a ruffled peplum. I can imagine this dress looked very pretty in the garden outside.

January Jones: I appreciate the directional, urban-forward mood the actress was setting with this Off-White Resort 2018 look—complete with that slick-back ponytail. However, I know the deconstructed, pinstripe skirt will have many saying it looks as if she wrapped a bolt of men’s shirting material around her waist.

Kiersey Clemons In Giamba – Marie Claire’s 3rd Annual Image Makers Awards

Kiersey Clemons was one of the lovely ladies who celebrated Marie Claire’s 3rd Annual Image Makers Awards on Thursday (January 11) in West Hollywood, California.

The actress seems to be embracing her shaved ‘do by experimenting with more romantic fashion choices.

She selected a whimsical Giamba Spring 2018 dress which framed her face courtesy of the trompe l’oeil bow.

I’m sure the detail will result in Gucci comparisons, but the gown stands on its own.

This was fresh and modern without being contrived. It makes me look forward to her next appearance.

Skyler Samuels In Giamba – 2018 Critics’ Choice Awards

Skyler Samuels looked ravishing in red at the 2018 Critics’ Choice Awards on Thursday (January 11) in Santa Monica, California.

The ‘Scream Queens’ actress wore a Giamba Fall 2017 gown.

The lacework is magnificent, especially with the way the fringed shoulders echo the leaf motif in the fabric.

The eye belt detail is what makes the look truly special as it added an unexpected surrealist touch.

Her soft waves and star hair accessories brought out the embellishment and imbued a vintage romance.

Dove Cameron In Giamba – Vanity Fair’s Celebrating of ‘Phantom Thread’

Dove Cameron was in attendance at Vanity Fair’s celebration of ‘Phantom Thread’ at the Chateau Marmont on Wednesday (January 10) in LA.

The young actress sported a Giamba Spring 2018 black dress which carried a sweetness from the sheer lace sleeves and above-the-knee length.

The Roger Vivier clutch and peep-toe shoes created a coordinated effect, with the footwear adding a youthful playfulness.

What do you think of the outfit?
