Red Carpet Fashion Awards

Chen Shu attended the Bulgari Grand Opening in Wuhan, China last week looking as elegant as ever.

The Chinese actress wore a Georges Hobeika Spring 2012 Couture gown.

I was delighted to see a piece from this collection on the red carpet as it was very much under-utilized by celebrities.

Her buttercup-yellow gown, with fold details on the bodice and a pleated chiffon skirt, was styled (some might say over-styled, but consider the event) with Bulgari jewels and a gold clutch.

Flawless makeup and a simple updo completed her modern princess look.

Even with her elf ears, we were swept away by Yao Chen’s Georges Hobeika Couture gown.

Some of you were put off by the fact that she chose such an elaborate gown for a daytime premiere, but the rest of us – who crave princess moments on the red carpet – instantly fell in love with her periwinkle-blue strapless gown.

When it came to the guys, our picks differed.

You opted for the handsome Joseph Gordon-Levitt in Gucci, while I was floored by how handsome Peter Facinelli looked in his Tommy Hilfiger grey suit.

Yao Chen joined Cate Blanchett on the red carpet this evening in Wellington, New Zealand for the world premiere of ‘The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey’.

The actress clearly didn’t want to go unnoticed on the red carpet, so she donned a beautiful Georges Hobeika Fall 2012 Couture ball gown.

This stunning look fills the void left by Zhang Ziyi, who used to be our go-to gal for pretty ball gowns.

Yao’s powder-blue tulle strapless ball gown with velvet touches and intricate embroidery details on the skirt gave me chills.

I’m typing covered in goosebumps as you know I live for a princess moment.

A small Kotur clutch, a half-up, half-down hairstyle and Bulgari drop earrings completed her BDOTW-worthy look.

I’m at a loss for words as to how spectacular this gown is.

Take a look at the close up to see Yao is sporting cute Elf ears.

Chen Shu attended the Luxury Life 7th Anniversary Ceremony in Beijing, China this weekend.

The Chinese actress wore a Georges Hobeika Fall 2012 Couture gown for the occasion.

Her strawberry sleeveless gown, featuring a unique petal-layered bodice with a velvet waist belt, certainly stood out against the dark background.

I have very mixed feelings about this look.

The top half is divine; so is the train. The lighter part in the middle doesn’t work for me.

I would’ve preferred it had the skirt been a dark berry hue, but this would’ve ruined the ombre effect of the gown, so again I have very strong mixed feelings about this look.

What are your feelings about it?

Here is a round-up of the rest of the looks from Vogue China’s 120th Anniversary celebration in Beijing last night.

Carolyn Murphy: The supermodel was Jason Wu’s glamorous plus one for the evening. She wore a gorgeous champagne silk cowl-neck gown with embellished shoulder details which no doubt lit up the red carpet. She styled her look with a Jason Wu Spring 2013 leopard-print box clutch and a hot-red lip colour.

Zhu Zhu: The daring TV host opted for a berry-coloured Louis Vuitton Spring 2011 Tai jacket with matching hot pants. The tights were to be expected as the pants are cut so narrowly. A green Bulgari clutch and a red pout completed her look.

Li Bingbing: The actress looked her usual elegant self wearing a Gucci Fall 2012 emerald-green blazer with matching wide-leg pants with a black velvet sash tied to the waist. Accessories included Bulgari jewels and a snakeskin Bulgari clutch. She never puts a foot wrong. She’s such a worthy Gucci ambassador. Read more…
