Runway To Sidewalk – Rihanna In Gareth Pugh

Rihanna was seen out and about shopping in New York yesterday.

During the day she wore a simple oversized Helmut Lang white shirt showing her bright orange bra, with denim shorts, white loafers and an Alexander Wang Denim Leather Brenda zip bag.

At night she transformed into an edgier look wearing a fitted white and black detailed jacket Gareth Pugh’s Spring 2009 collection with a black mini-skirt, and white gloves as she headed out to the Rose Bar at Gramercy Park Hotel.

Her look was completed with sunglasses – yes at night – and black Christian Louboutin heels.

I love this look minus the gloves. Rihanna is back.

A few weeks ago I feel she would have worn the WHOLE runway look, but she appears to have calmed down the extremes.

Her look is still edgy but less in your face.

Who Wore Gareth Pugh Better? Beyonce Knowles or Daphne Guinness

The world was in shock when Beyonce Knowles wore a not one, but two Gareth Pugh pieces to the MTV Europe Music Awards last November.

We were in shock that Beyonce would be aware of such an edgy designer, let alone wear his clothes because lets face it, at that point we were only used to seeing B in gorgeous flowing Lebanese designs or her mother’s vomit inducing pieces.

We weren’t so shocked when heiress Daphne Guinness wore Gareth Pugh to the Valentino: The Last Emperor New York premiere, because his Avant-garde pieces are very much what she wears day to day.

Despite that, I prefer the dress on Beyonce. Daphne’s black Azzedine Alaia belt, and the long-sleeve top, was overkill imo.

Runway To The MTV EMAs Stage – Beyonce In Gareth Pugh

When Beyonce Knowles performed her hit single If I Wear A Boy at the 2008 MTV Europe Music Awards tonight, she wore ANOTHER Gareth Pugh creation. This time from the Fall 2008 collection.

The singer opted out of the ribbed leather leggings, but wore the dress, with structured shoulders and a peplum at the waist.

The single is a very slow gushy ballad, so you would have expected Beyonce to come out in a long flowing Elie Saab, or Versace gown, but no.

Could this be the turn around I have been praying for? Time will tell.

Runway To The MTV EMAs – Beyonce In Gareth Pugh

I had to do a double take when I saw Beyonce Knowles arrive at the 2008 MTV Europe Music Awards in Liverpool tonight.

Beyonce Knowles floored me with pure shock that she was wore such an edgy British designer.

The R&B singer arrived on the red carpet wearing a modified Gareth Pugh Spring 2009 black dress, with gold Giuseppe Zanotti heels and gold metal glove.

I had to rub my eyes to make sure I was not seeing things. I mean who would have thought bland Beyonce could pull this off, and with a personality. Look at her posing.

Sasha fierce, thats for sure.

Regular readers will remember that Roisin Murphy wore a similar dress by the same designer right off the runway.
