Red Carpet Fashion Awards

Jessie J was the third British singer to hit the red carpet for VH1’s Divas Celebrate Soul event at the Hammerstein Ballroom in New York City last night.

The singer is well known for her fashion-forward red carpet and performance looks, so we shouldn’t be surprised she opted for this daring Falguni & Shane Spring 2012 gown.

Her extended gown version has all the gold embroidered and embellished details, but with an added black flounced hemline.

Unlike the model, Jessie didn’t go commando, opting for a bikini-style top and high-waist blank panties.

I’m glad she toned down the makeup and allowed the dress to do all the talking on this occasion.

For her solo performance Jessie J wore a Mark Fast Spring 2011 dress.

Jennifer Lopez was back on the red carpet for the iHeartRadio Festival in Las Vegas.

She wore a youthful Camilla and Marc ‘Protean’ dress from the Resort 2011 collection.

The fitted halter mini dress had a pink strip going down the centre was complemented by her pink Jimmy Choo ‘Kiln’ embellished peep-toe booties and a Carrera y Carrera Tiger ring.

The glowing diva opted for sultry makeup, wavy hair and gold nail polish.

I love everything about this look, but I question her choice of clutch.

For her performance, Jennifer donned an elaborate Falguni and Shane Peacock fringed dress to perform her new single ‘Papi’, plus her other well-known hits including ‘Get Right’, ‘On The Floor’, ‘Let’s Get Loud’ and ‘Jenny From The Block’.

The dress was paired with nude fishnet tights which were lightly embellished like her dress.

This sultry number gave her plenty of movement on stage, so much so that she flashed her famous derriere to the crowd several times.

Not that they were complaining.

Most Expected Award
The 2011 MTV Video Music Awards wouldn’t be the 2011 MTV Video Music Awards without at least one Falguni & Shane Peacock dress on the red carpet.

I think it’s the law as far as this event is concerned.

Kelly Rowland donned this gorgeous creation from the designers Fall 2011 collection on the red carpet tonight.

So far there have been a lot of black looks, but I do love this one.

The gold embroidered dress with a feathered skirt and leather harness-style detail wrapped around her waist is the perfect sexy, confident look I would expect from Kelly.

Her look would’ve been significantly better if Kelly had opted for a better hairstyle (when will she retire that awful wig?)

Nice Dress Shame About The Shoes Award
Fergie gave us our second look at a dress from Indian designers Falguni and Shane Peacock this weekend.

At the 2010 American Music Awards held in LA tonight she donned an interesting feathered confection from their Fall 2010 collection.

The blue and black embellished dress would only be classed as a stage look for some, but Fergie totally rocks the look on the red carpet.

I like the exaggerated feathered shoulders, but wish she’d pulled her hair back with all that detail.

The black peep-toes are a bit of a let down given the theatricality of the dress.

Do you agree?

I take back what I said about Fergie’s heels. The close-up reveals her Ruthie Davis heels have a spiked detail along the heel.

I want to focus on fashion, but last night on the X Factor Cheryl Cole proved that despite all the designer clothes, the L’Oreal contract and the best efforts of her PR team to make us forget about the Cheryl Tweedy who attacked a toilet attendant, she still has no class.

I lost total and utter respect for her when she used the show to try to publicly humiliate Wagner over some false media story in the Mirror of all papers. Like it’s the holy bible of truth.

She reminded us that the show isn’t about the contestants vying for a £1 million recording contract, but that the show is ALL ABOUT HER.

She needs to count her blessing because she can’t sing and she did get lucky, so she needs to climb down from her high horse and get over herself.

You can read her embarrassing attack on Wagner here.

As for what she wore on Saturday night I think Julien MacDonald summed up my feelings on her style this week when he allegedly said to her, “Who are you trusting and who are you working with? What are you thinking?” To which she allegedly ran off crying.

Truth hurts. Allegedly.

Cheryl’s lost her mojo. She doesn’t care anymore and this “Dancing On Ice” costume proved that.

I can’t wait for the public apology tonight which will be scripted to perfection by her PR team.

Thanks to High Heel Confidential for identifying Cheryl’s dress.
