2018 SAG Awards Menswear Red Carpet Roundup

Many of the fellows at the 2018 SAG Awards weren’t content to just wear the standard black tux, making for quite the scene-stealing list of looks on Sunday (January 21) in LA.

Noah Schnapp: The young ‘Stranger Things’ star continued to win my affection with a lesson in all that is dapper in his custom-made velvet tuxedo by Stella McCartney paired with Jésù-SégunLondon slipper-style shoes, a Brackish bowtie, and Mrs Bow Tie pocket square. What a charmer.

Sterling K. Brown:
The ‘This Is Us’ star won the best actor award, and his look was equally stellar in this Giorgio Armani tuxedo styled with a Chopard timepiece and cufflinks. This was a lesson in the appeal of classic style with a modern twist thanks to the shades and the slim-line, slightly cropped proportions.

Dacre Montgomery:
I liked this Giorgio Armani ensemble for its unorthodox twist on the traditional tux in the chocolate-brown hue and exaggerated shawl label. Wearing his dress shirt unbuttoned at the top added a rebellious flavour that actually echoed his ‘Stranger Things’ character quite well. Montblanc cufflinks completed the look.

Menswear Red Carpet Roundup

The gents have been making some dapper statements on the red carpet of late.

Bradley Cooper: The actor looked suave in Ermenegildo Zegna Couture and Louboutin shoes at IWC Schaffhausen’s Maison launch of its Jubilee Collection at the Salon International de la Haute Horlogerie (SIHH) on Tuesday (January 16). The velvet jacket and bow tie are a debonair combination with the blue in the watch adding some subtle colour.

Luke Evans: The actor joined Dakota Fanning at ‘The Alienist’ New York premiere on Tuesday (January 16). The subtle pinstripe in his Polo Ralph Lauren suit played off the pale blue shirt. There is something slightly off with the jacket. Methinks a single breasted style would have suited him better.

James Marsden: Also at IWC Schaffhausen’s Maison launch of its Jubilee Collection, the actor looked dashing in a slim navy suit and Louboutin shoes. The soft weave on the fabric could have come across as messy, but its sharp finish speaks to a master tailor.

Menswear Red Carpet Roundup

A group of handsomely outfitted guys have been out and about lately, as they make the red carpet rounds. Here’s the midweek roundup.

Timothee Chalamet: I love this up-and-comer’s style, as he always appears effortlessly nonchalant yet completely pulled-together on the red carpet even in a super-sharp Gucci Resort 2018 checquered suit that assured he stood out among the crowd at the 2017 GQ Men of the Year Party on Thursday (December 6) in LA.

Chadwick Boseman: At the ‘Star Wars: The Last Jedi’ LA premiere on Saturday (December 8), Chadwick joined a constellation of actresses—and held his own in a Ports 1961 Fall 2017 ensemble. The unexpected, directional striped detail is what sold the look to me for this monumental premiere.

Nick Jonas: Looking as spiffy as ever, Nick dressed in a Ermenegildo Zegna Couture suit for the ‘Jumanji: Welcome To The Jungle’ LA premiere on Monday (December 11). I really like how the cropped proportions, crew-neck shirt, and suede boots brought a whole new, cool-suave perspective to this look.

Menswear Red Carpet Roundup

From awards galas to premieres and more, there were plenty of occasions for the men to be out in force on the red carpet. Here’s a look at the men who have been front and centre.

Justin Timberlake: Proving that the velvet trend isn’t just for the ladies, Justin cut a thoroughly suave profile in this dark-green velvet Tom Ford tuxedo at the 9th Annual Governors Awards on Saturday (November 11) in Hollywood. I love this luxe twist on the classic tux.

Jason Momoa: Although his styling may have been more in the manner of edgy-bohemian, Jason’s custom Valentino tuxedo was quite smooth and polished at the ‘Justice League’ LA premiere on Monday (November 13).

Jared Leto: It’s Jared Leto and it’s an MTV event, so it’s only natural that he would go sartorially wild at the 2017 MTV EMAs on Sunday (November 12) in London with his latest Gucci endeavor—a Fall 2017 look that was even more subversively rebellious than the runway presentation. The colour discord between the lavender, bubblegum, and red track pants made me want to shield my eyes—and we haven’t even gotten to the tidy-whitey sneakers.

Fresh from a weekend’s worth of looks, here’s what the men have been wearing lately.

Andrew Garfield: At the ‘Breathe’ New York special screening on Monday (October 9) alongside Claire Foy, Andrew donned a Tom Ford ensemble that continued his incredibly polished flair. Fresh off his BDOTW win—where he was also in Tom Ford—this look continued in fine form, as I loved the varied richness with which he wore these shades of blue, highlighted by the flash of a light pocket square to complete the effect.

Miles Teller: Joining Jennifer Connelly and Nina Dobrev at the ‘Only The Brave’ LA premiere on Sunday (October 8), Miles was all buttoned up in a conservative Ermenegildo Zegna Couture three-piece suit that was ever so dapper.

Michael Fassbender: Dropping by ‘The Late Late Show with James Corden’ on Friday night (October 6), Michael took a handsomely laid-back approach in Burberry tailoring that didn’t take itself too seriously by virtue of the unbuttoned dress shirt.

Although many fellows were at the 2017 Emmy Awards on Sunday (September 17), a few others were hopping about to their own respective premieres and events.

Pedro Pascal: Pedro walked the line in his Ermenegildo Zegna Couture felt suit that offered a linear twist on tradition at the London premiere of ‘Kingsman: The Golden Circle’ on Monday (September 18).

Dave Franco: Dave had me at hello at the ‘The LEGO Ninjago Movie’ premiere in Carlsbad, California on Saturday (September 16). With a nod to retro inspiration gone modern, he looked sharp in his Salvatore Ferragamo suit styled with a playful, bear-print Band of Outsiders shirt and Christian Louboutin ‘Cousin Greg’ shoes.

Colin Firth: Also at the ‘Kingsman: The Golden Circle’ premiere, Colin carried the classic torch in his Tom Ford suit that fit him like a glove. Plus, he gets bonus points for the geek-handsome glasses.

2017 Emmy Awards Menswear Roundup

The 2017 Emmy Awards were last night (September 17) in LA, and they delivered a number of memorable looks from the menswear department.

Caleb McLaughlin: The ‘Stranger Things’ actor may only be 15, but age has had no impact on his trendsetting, grown-up style. He dressed to impress in a custom Garçon Couture tuxedo that I loved for its bold purple, floral dinner jacket; the colour of which added snazzy, youthful fun to the look. Slim trousers and slipper-style loafers completed the suave ensemble.

Noah Schnapp:
‘Stranger Things’ will not be faulted for not having quite the stylish set of young guns, as I’m even more obsessed with 13-year-old Noah’s style. Statement jackets and cool-kid looks are his current M.O., and that can be thoroughly witnessed in this Balmain outfit. From the royal, velvet military jacket, to his embroidered slippers, he is showing guys three times his age how it’s done.

Finn Wolfhard: Rounding out the ‘Stranger Things’ trio, Finn took a safer approach in a black Prada tuxedo that still wins him style points, though.

Menswear Red Carpet Roundup

Here’s midweek roundup of the men who have been spotted on the red-carpet circuit at the 2017 Toronto Film Festival and beyond.

Garrett Hedlund: There’s no denying that Garrett did look like quite the charmer at the ‘Mudbound’ TIFF premiere on Tuesday (September 12), despite the stuffier nature of his three-piece Dolce & Gabbana suit that could have used some proper tailoring through the pants, as well.

Luke Evans: I much preferred Luke’s Dolce & Gabbana ensemble at the ‘Professor Marston & The Wonder Woman’ TIFF premiere on Tuesday, as the aubergine colour of the suit mixed with the sky-blue shirt and paisley printed tie was such a handsome combo.

Andrew Garfield: The ‘Breathe’ TIFF premiere on Monday (September 11) had the actor dressing up in a charcoal Tom Ford suit styled with a wide, textural tie for added impact—and a less expected play on proportions, when a skinnier tie might have been anticipated with the slim-line jacket and pants.
