Red Carpet Fashion Awards

Brit Awards men 1The Brit Awards 2014 on Wednesday (February 19) certainly brought some colourful, if not questionable, entrances from the starlets who crowded the O2 Arena in London, England. Not leaving the fashion fun to just the ladies, a crush of guys also flexed their sartorial strength.

Pharrell Williams: Yet again leaving his hat trick for another day, the entertainer returned to his favoured designer with this Lanvin charcoal-grey, lamé-effect two-button suit from the Hiver 2014 Pre-Collection. He paired the high-shine suit with a white tuxedo shirt with pearl buttons and a black satin bow tie, capping off the look with black patent leather derbies sans socks. Of course, he pulled his signature style move by rolling his pants into a cropped length to complete this cool-kid look.

Tinie Tempah: The British rapper gave us his dapper best in a Dolce & Gabbana two-tone champagne and charcoal-grey ensemble, featuring a textured, dotted blazer and vest and cropped trousers. He wore the suit with a printed grey tie, white shirt and socks-less black loafers. Did you like his mixing and matching?

2014 People’s Choice Awards Menswear RoundupKicking off the new year in trendsetting fashion, the 2014 People’s Choice Awards’ red carpet at the Nokia Theatre L.A. Live in California was ablaze last night (January 8) with PYTs and their handsome counterparts. Sure, the girls brought the trendy glam, but the guys showed off their own sartorial muscle, too.

Justin Timberlake: The entertainer, and three-time winner for Favourite Male Artist, R&B Artist and Album, balanced an armful of trophies while looking sharp in an all-black Tom Ford ensemble. That he went tieless and sported a bit of well-groomed scruff only contributed to the cool factor.

Ian Somerhalder: ‘The Vampire Diaries’ hottie scored the win for Favourite Sci-Fi/Fantasy TV Actor—and scored major style points with his Z Zegna navy blazer with button-down shirt and tie, which he handsomely dressed down with a pair of dark denim jeans, casual loafers and a touch of scruff. Of course, who was really looking at anything but those piercing baby blues.

Chris Colfer: The ‘Glee’ cutie showed off his Favourite Comedic TV Actor trophy in a Sand midnight-blue, velvet blazer paired with Citizens of Humanity ‘Blade’ tapered slim jeans, a white button-down shirt and black tie. Like Ian, he put a casual spin on his formal top half with dark denim jeans.

Vogue NO 100 Night In Beijing

The glamour was on full display at Tuesday’s Vogue NO. 100 Night in Beijing. Here’s a look at who wore what for the evening’s festivities.

Shu Qi: The actress wore an embellished Hugo Boss Fall 2013 gown with its statement hardware belt, styling it with a slicked-back bun and minimalist drop earrings. While this dress was previously worn by Jourdan Dunn, it could almost be mistaken as two very different looks, don’t you think?

Du Juan: The model-actress stepped out in a floor-length, sleeveless Valentino Resort 2014 dress that featured all-over floral embroidery. Her pin-straight locks and red lip completed the look.

Liu Zi: Clad in a wine-red Emporio Armani Fall 2013 number, Liu Zi showed off the dress’s one sleeve on, one sleeve off detail, along with its almost cumbersome voluminous shape. She paired the look with a black-and-gold clutch and a gold collar statement necklace.

Qin Shupei: The lanky model chose a strapless LWD with floral-embroidered waist detail from the Christian Dior Fall 2013 collection, which she complemented with a red lip, white pumps, and a simple double-strand silver necklace.

Li Feier: By choosing a floor-skimming white lace Dolce & Gabbana number, Li looked mermaid-like and ethereal. She accessorized with a white clutch, gold cuff, and a skinny tiara.

Emma Pei: The model evoked quite the 1920s flapper vibe in her Giorgio Armani Fall 2013 look, consisting of a silver-sequin, black-button vest top layered over a black velvet dress. A gold-plated black clutch, black sandals, and barely-there makeup were her final touches.

Haden Kuo: The actress wore a sleeveless, floor-length, gold Andrew Gn Fall 2013 dress with black lace overlay, pairing it with her long wavy locks to finish.

Ge Huijie: The model selected one of the dramatic mesh-and-feathered dresses from the Gucci Fall 2013 lineup. The eye-catching points didn’t stop there, though. She styled her dress with sheer black tights, holographic sandals, a grey clutch, hoop earrings, and a matte red lip.

The Hunger Games Men

The male stars of ‘The Hunger Games: Catching Fire’ all received a very warm welcome when they hit the red carpet in Leicester Square for the world premiere in London yesterday evening.

Liam Hemsworth: The actor donned a dark grey Alexander McQueen suit accented with a red remembrance day poppy. The classic look was styled with a McQueen barbed wire tie, plus a timepiece and beaded bracelet from David Yurman.

Sam Clafin: Opting not to go down the traditional suit-and-tie route, the actor looked very smart in his Burberry Tailoring double breasted navy suit styled with a maroon scarf which matched his tassel accented loafers. He also donned a red remembrance day poppy with a blue-and-grey pocket square rounding out his look.

Josh Hutcherson: The only one opting for a clean shaven look, the man male star wore a midnight-blue Emporio Armani suit with a white dress shirt, matching pocket and micro dot tie accented with a tie pin. Jimmy Choo ‘Prescott’ shoes rounded out his classic, can’t-go-wrong-in-an-Armani-suit look.

Sam is my favourite here. Classic, yet modern.

Menswear Midweek Roundup

Here is a roundup of some of the eye candy taking to the red carpet last night.

David Gandy: The hunky model joined the Christopher-Kane-clad Laura Whitmore and Laura Carmichael at the 2013 Scottish Fashion Awards 2013 held in London yesterday evening. Opting for something distinctively Italian, he smouldered in a Dolce & Gabbana three-piece suit with a luxe velvet jacket with satin lapels topped off with a herringbone bow tie.

Michael Fassbender: For the New York screening of his movie ‘The Counselor’, the actor wore a laidback Emporio Armani look featuring jeans, a black blazer and a white shirt. Thankfully, his baby-blue eyes captivate me so much I can’t focus on how underwhelmed I am by his look.

Ralph Fiennes: A gala tribute was hosted in honour of Ralph Fiennes during the New York Film Festival yesterday evening. The British actor looked uber-chilled dressed in a sleek navy-blue Dior Homme wool two-button notch-lapel suit with a black cotton shirt and black leather derbies. This blue is a great colour for him.
