London Evening Standard Theatre Awards Red Carpet Roundup

Many more stars were in attendance at the London Evening Standard Theatre Awards were held on Sunday (December 3) in London, England, where all modes of elegance reigned supreme.

Annabelle Wallis: She was the very picture of modern glamour in this Stella McCartney black lace gown. I love how the perfect plunge neckline and semi-sheer, layered effect gave this dress a sultry yet sophisticated finish—juxtaposed with the classic elegance of old-Hollywood waves and a red lip.

Ophelia Lovibond: Not content to let her look go fully the way of monochromatic minimalism, Olivia enlivened this Emporio Armani Fall 2017 halter dress with a bright-pink clutch. It was unexpected, but gave the look its own unique flair.

Menswear Red Carpet Roundup

There were so many great menswear looks to take the red-carpet stage over the weekend.

Caleb McLaughlin: At the ripe age of 16, this ‘Stranger Things’ star is showing his incredible flair for style in this 3.1 Phillip Lim paint-splattered ensemble at the 2017 American Music Awards on Sunday (November 19) in LA. I love how he fully committed to the look, right down to the shoes—and that this is both youthful and fashion-forward at the same time.

Harry Styles: At the 2017 Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show on Monday (November 20) in Shanghai, China, Harry did what he does best combining retro and modern style influences in this Givenchy Spring 2018 mint suit and matching silk shirt paired with Givenchy boots.

Machine Gun Kelly: This Comme des Garçons ensemble took the abstract, paint-splattered effect to even greater lengths at the American Music Awards. But, despite the exaggerated elements, the effect came off as directionally cool rather than comical.

2017 MTV EMAs Red Carpet Roundup

While many will still be talking about Rita Ora’s double bathrobe moment at the 2017 MTV EMAs on Sunday (November 12) in London, there were plenty of other daring looks to likewise borrow some of the spotlight.

Leomie Anderson: I love how the model looked to vintage Vivienne Westwood inspiration in this Fall 1994 look. Her high ponytail and combat boots added another layer of sassy edge to the look that had plenty of modern edge.

Demi Lovato: Proving that plaid and a paper-bag waist can somehow maintain a sexy appeal, Demi worked the proportions of this Styland suit to her advantage. Giuseppe Zanotti plafforms were clearly necessary given the length of the pants, with Messika jewelry rounding out the look. If the super-long extensions get a pass, it’s only because of this being a MTV occasion.

Tallia Storm: Her Topshop ‘Cosmic Star’ embellished slip dress offered an accessible interpretation on red-carpet dressing. I can easily see the socks and platforms being a sticking point, however, they did bring funky appeal, with an Alexander McQueen clutch for a bit of overt British flavour to finish the look.

CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund Show Red Carpet Roundup

The CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund show on Wednesday (October 25) in Los Angeles, California presented a myriad of exciting looks thanks to the number of stylish women in attendance.

Millie Bobby Brown: This minimalist Calvin Klein look helped cement the ‘Stranger Things’ actress’s status as a young starlet who has an innate sense of style. Some might deem this outfit as a tad too sophisticated for a 13-year-old, but I found the mix of the white halter dress against the bold black accessories brilliant. It showed that younger celebs don’t always need to go the princess route.

Nikki Reed: The actress’s Emporio Armani Spring 2017 separates had an easy elegance. Critics might find that the ensemble looked too much like pjamas, but the vibrant colour and the contrasting candy cane-like stripes on the cuffs and hem presented a fun finish. The tailoring was also beautifully done. The look was styled with Casadei sandals and a Lee Savage clutch.

Kaia Gerber: The model was another one who sported a chic outfit that revealed a mature sense of styling. The demure below-the-knee Veronica Beard Spring 2018 dress didn’t feel dowdy thanks to the white and red check. Plus, her bold accessories lent a youthful vibe to the frock.

Maisie Williams In Emporio Armani – ‘Mary Shelley’ Toronto Film Festival Premiere

Maisie Williams, along with Elle Fanning, attended the ‘Mary Shelley’ Toronto Film Festival premiere on Saturday (September 9).

Known for her playful and experimental outfits, Maisie combined the top and shorts from two separate looks from the Emporio Armani Spring 2017 runway to create elegant red coordinates.

She further enhanced the all-red ensemble with Anissa Kermiche earrings, red pointed-toe shoes with a ribbon around the ankle and a swipe of red lipstick.

While some might find the look a touch too match-y, I appreciate the harmonious color palette—even with the coordinating red carpet factored in. Her black manicure, the shorter proportions and the cutouts in the top, provide relief from the striking hue.
