Red Carpet Fashion Awards

Angelina Jolie is not one to disappoint on the red carpet and the 2014 Oscars (March 2) were no exception.

The ‘Maleficent’ actress embraced the metallic trend in a beaded gown from Elie Saab Fall 2013 Couture paired with shoes by Ferragamo.

Angie has been all about black Saint Laurent lately – notably her amazing tuxedo at the BAFTAs – so this elaborately embellished couture piece came as a bit of surprise albeit a pleasant one.

Unsurprisingly she looks gorgeous and glamorous and the illusion through the chest and sleeves is sexy yet subtle. And you can never go wrong with Brad Pitt as an accessory.

Sadly, she didn’t seem to put much thought into the hair and make-up, which could have taken the whole look to another level.

What do you think? Was the hair and make-up not enough? Or did it balance out the complex dress?

Ahna O'Reilly In Elie Saab - Film Independent Spirit Awards 2014

Ahna O’Reilly also attended the 2014 Film Independent Spirit Awards, hosted on Saturday (March 1) at Santa Monica Beach in California.

The actress skipped a frock in favour of an Elie Saab Spring 2014 ensemble, consisting of a creamy-white top, embellished in watercolour florals, and matching high-waisted, tailored pants.

While we certainly aren’t accustomed to seeing a non-gown Elie Saab moment on the red carpet, this look had the potential to be every bit as stunning as those dresses.

However, I was missing the crisp, bright appeal that captivated me on the runway. A victim perhaps of poor styling, the chic separates were weighed down by clunky Aldo platform sandals and a garish hot-pink clutch.

Dazzling in Chopard’s jewels, she wore their oval-diamond ‘Riviera’ necklace, diamond stud earrings and a huge statement ring.

Blanca Suarez In Elie Saab - Fotogramas Magazine Awards

Blanca Suarez attended the ‘Fotogramas Magazine Awards’ held at Teatro Joy Eslava on Monday (February 24) in Madrid, Spain.

Unlike Dafne Fernandez, Blanca opted for a dark moody look, wearing an Elie Saab Fall 2013 black long-sleeved gown with a sheer yoke.

She styled her gown with a black embellished Christian Louboutin ‘Sweet Charity’ clutch and Delfina Delettrez jewels, including rings which sat beneath her fingers and a selection of ear cuffs.

Vamping up the look, she slicked back her hair and added a deep-berry lip.

On a red carpet full of the joys of spring, does this look stand out for you?

Iggy Azalea In Elie Saab - Brit Awards 2014

Iggy Azalea took to the red carpet for the Brit Awards 2014 held at the O2 Arena in London this evening (February 19).

Considering we’ve seen her wearing gowns which reveal her bikini line, I would say that this Elie Saab Resort 2014 red sleeveless gown with sheer inserts is a very conservative outing for the rapper.

While these events are all about standing out; and let’s face it, showing off, I admire this more grown up approach.

A side parted wavy chignon and shimmering nude lip completed her look.

Right dress, wrong occasion? or do you love this look?
