Janelle Monae In Elie Saab Couture – 2017 Oscars

As we expected, Janelle Monae made a grand entrance at the 2017 Oscars on Sunday (February 26) in Hollywood, California.

Channeling the metallic mood she set at the Pre-Oscar Awards dinner, she wore an Elie Saab Fall 2016 Couture masterwork accessorized with Forevermark Diamonds.

Brimming with the intricacy of sparkling embellishment, a period silhouette, and a flock of the most fashionable birds, the gown took flight with all the drama we’d anticipate from Janelle, but with an all-new spirit that stepped outside her graphic, black-and-white box.

She even skipped her signature red lip and styled her hair into a precious, Jennifer Behr headband-topped pixie for another layer of fresh intrigue.

This could have translated as a heavy, overly wrought look but she commanded it with such lightness of form.

It took my breath away.

Laura Dern & Paz Vega In Elie Saab – Bvlgari Pre-Oscar Dinner

Laura Dern and Paz Vega both wore Elie Saab while attending Bulgari’s Pre-Oscar Dinner at Chateau Marmont on Saturday (February 25) in Hollywood.

While their styles couldn’t be more different, each possessed their own natural radiance and feminine energy.

Laura Dern: The actress was a vision in floral lace, this sleeveless dress cuts a maxi silhouette. Genteel and well-mannered in its appearance, the styling was kept to a minimum.

Paz Vega: Without any classic traits of Elie Saab – lace, bling, big ballgown – Paz’s jumpsuit presents a more modern alternative to the norm. Her supersize vision of Elie Saab glamour didn’t veer too left of the runway styling.

Rita Ora In Elie Saab – Pre-GRAMMY Gala

Rita Ora put on the glitz for the Pre-GRAMMY Gala on Saturday (February 11) in LA.

Saying no-way to a gown, she shimmied out an Elie Saab Spring 2017 sheer, backless jumpsuit with all-over beaded fringe.

Topped off with a smoky eye and nude lip, Rita ensured the look had enough of a smoldering quality to go with its disco dance party spirit.

If her entrance is causing a bit of déjà vu, as it did for me, it’s probably because you’re remembering Blake Lively’s similar mini dress version of this jumpsuit from January.

Anya Taylor-Joy In Elie Saab – British Academy Film Awards Nominees Party

Anya Taylor-Joy attended the BAFTA nominees party on Saturday (February 11) in London.

It’s fair to say we had some pretty strong opinions about her last Elie Saab dress, so I’m interested to hear what you will say about this one.

I love how Elie Saab’s signature take on femininity is embodied in this pretty dress with delicate lace being used to dramatic effect, so I understand that the belt was added for contemporary appeal.

However, once again, it feels like the belt was rung one or two loops too many.

Anya Taylor-Joy In Elie Saab – EE British Academy Film Awards Gala Dinner

Ahead of Sunday nights BAFTA Awards, Anya Taylor-Joy attended the BAFTA Film gala dinner on Thursday (February 9) in London.

I’m sure many of you instantly recoginsed this as an Elie Saab gown due to the galaxy of stars which decorate this gorgeous gown and make up the theme for the Spring 2017 collection.

The mood is ethereal, the hair is teased to perfection, but the fit is off for me.

From the waist up the look feels very restricted. Had it not been for that, this would’ve been a BDOTW contender.

Thoughts?

Reese Witherspoon In Elie Saab – ‘Big Little Lies’ LA Premiere

Reese Witherspoon joined her co-stars Laura Dern, Shailene Woodley and Zoe Kravitz for the premiere of HBO’s ‘Big Little Lies’ on Tuesday (February 7) in Hollywood, California.

While there’s often a sense of familiarity when it comes to Reese’s style, I did feel she stepped outside her comfort-zone with this Elie Saab Pre-Fall 2017 embellished dress.

I love how this feels daringly modern for Reese, with the thigh-high split keeping things decidedly feminine, but not without some contemporary edge thanks to the embolden shoulders.

Yes, I would’ve preferred sandals over pumps, but I love this look head to toe nonetheless.
