Michelle Dockery In Elie Saab - 2013 White House Correspondents' Association

Michelle Dockery brought some British flair to the 2013 White House Correspondents’ Association Dinner at the Washington Hilton on Saturday night in Washington, D.C.

The ‘Downton Abbey’ actress showed us our highly anticipated second glance at Elie Saab’s Fall 2013 collection, after Jessica Biel debuted it at the Tiffany & Co. Blue Book Ball.

This violet-purple peplum gown with sheer chiffon inlay is another example of a sequin- and bead-free moment from the bling-loving designer. Not that the look was completely shine-free, as metallic bangles and a clutch played nicely with the sculpted belt.

Michelle wore the dress well, although this is a look that’s made for walking, as I missed the magic of the gown’s runway movement.

A glam updo and a hot-fuchsia glossed pout finished the story, although with this ultra-violet colour, I would have liked to have seen a slightly more neutral lippie.

Jessica Biel In Elie Saab - Tiffany & Co Blue Book Ball

Joining Gwyneth Paltrow and Kate Hudson in wearing something blue, Jessica Biel attended the Tiffany & Co. Blue Book Ball, held at the Rockefeller Center in New York City yesterday evening.

The actress gives us our first, long-awaited look at the Elie Saab Fall 2013 collection.

She wore a navy floral-print gown, featuring sheer panelling on the skirt, and a contrasting blue leather belt.

Having been quite critical of Jessica’s looks in the past, I’m glad to see her doing justice to this gorgeous gown.

Opting for barely there makeup – though not as severe as Carey Mulligan’s – the actress completed her look with Tiffany & Co. jewels and side-swept waves with a diamond brooch accent.

Elie Saab might be known as the ‘Bling King’, but this gorgeous sequin-free gown proves he isn’t a one-trick pony.

Elanne Kwong In Elie Saab - 2013 Hong Kong Film Awards

Elanne Kwong looked elegant on the red carpet at the 2013 Hong Kong Film Awards on Saturday.

The actress and singer wore a simple lace Elie Saab gown.

While Elanne looks flawlessly chic in this graceful gown, I can’t help but feel like it’s just lacking a little spark.

Her hair, makeup and smile are all charming, but I wish there was one piece of color or interest here.

I’m thinking a bold red lip would have taken this to another level of stunning, but I would even settle of a red mani for a little pop.

What do you think? Just right, or not enough?

Miriam Yeung In Elie Saab - 2013 Hong Kong Film Awards

Miriam Yeung attended the 2013 Hong Kong Film Awards on Saturday evening.

The actress and singer wore a berry, jewel-encrusted Elie Saab Spring 2013 gown and carried a silver Jimmy Choo ‘Tube’ clutch.

Nominated for a Best Actress award at Hong Kong’s equivalent to the Oscars, it was important for Miriam to really shine, and I think she looks stunning in this simple but eye-catching gown.

I love that she chose silver as her accent colour, and I think the bracelet and clutch are perfect, however I’m really not loving the necklace.

With this deep v-neckline, I think she should have either left off the necklace altogether, or gone for something longer. As it is, this collarbone-grazing length breaks up the lines the gown creates and just looks out of place.

Andrea Riseborough In Elie Saab Couture - ‘Oblivion’ LA Premiere

While Olga Kurylenko has fulfilled most of the promotional duties for ‘Oblivion’ in Asia and Europe, Andrea Riseborough joined her co-star at the Dolby Theatre for the Hollywood premiere in California yesterday evening.

Wearing her second Elie Saab Couture look of this campaign, the British actress wore a gorgeous blush-coloured frock from the designer’s Spring 2010 collection. The term ‘oldie but goodie’ definitely applies here.

Her floral appliqué gown, which was thankfully retrieved from the archives, was effortlessly styled with Bulgari jewels and a gold Oroton clutch.

Andrea’s warm copper eye makeup and pink lips, plus her wavy raven tresses, prevent this look from feeling too one note for me.

While I wanted her hair up for her previous look, wearing her hair down with this second-skin gown was the right decision.

Of her two Elie Saab Couture gowns, I preferred the previous gown, but in terms of overall look, this is my favourite – it’s on another level of heavenly.

WWIB Elie Saab Couture

Serving as a jury member for the 2012 Venice Film Festival, Laetitia Casta had many great red carpet moments, including this peach tulle gold-embellished Elie Saab Fall 2012 Couture dress, which she wore to the premiere for ‘The Master’.

Her breathtaking look was styled with the same matching heels we saw on the runway.

Five months later, we were surprised to see Nicole Kidman wearing the same dress to the 2013 G’Day USA Los Angeles Black Tie Gala.

Not only because we don’t expect someone of her calibre to wear a look already worn by another celebrity, but also because the look felt a bit twee on the statuesque beauty.

Laetitia wins for me, not only because I prefer her shoe choice and makeup, but also because the twee factor doesn’t apply here.
