Michelle Obama’s Tour Of Asia

Michelle Obama's Five-Day Tour Of Asia

United States First Lady Michelle Obama arrived in Japan last week for a three-day visit, as part of a drive to promote girls’ education around the world, before heading to Cambodia for two days. Wearing a range of designers, she dynamically showed her love of bold colours and prints—and her ability to wear them confidently and effortlessly.

Look 1: Michelle couldn’t have made a better first impression upon arrival at Tokyo’s Haneda International Airport on Wednesday (March 18), waving to onlookers in a citron-yellow Kenzo printed frock that had me at hello. The colour was glorious on her and so, too, was the box-pleated, voluminous skirt. Some might say the statement metallic belt was a bit too much, but I would say it added an artsy edge. I’m glad she chose the directional Japanese label—and that she wore it without a tinge of try-hard.

Look 2: On Thursday (March 19), FLOTUS attended the Japan-U.S. Joint Girls Education Event at the Iikura Guest House in Tokyo. She was radiant in an Altuzarra custom dress coat from the Spring 2015 collection with a burnt-orange, lotus-inspired stencil print; a motif likely selected to pay homage to her Japanese tour.

ELLE’s Annual Women in Television Celebration

ELLE's Annual Women in Television Celebration

ELLE’s Annual Women in Television Celebration took place at the Sunset Tower on Tuesday (January 13) in West Hollywood, California, with many women in television in attendance.

Sarah Hyland: The ‘Modern Family’ star opted for head-to-toe white. I love the voluminous structure of her DKNY Spring 2015 dress, which only highlights the alluring cut-outs further. Styled with a classic Edie Parker clutch, the look was given a touch of colour via her hot-pink lip.

Mary Elizabeth Winstead: Pretty in pink, the actress wore an Osman Spring 2015 dress accented with black fringed details, which she complemented with matching pumps and a box clutch.

Jenna Dewan Tatum: The ‘Witches of East End’ golden girl wore a slinky metallic dress from Reem Acra’s Fall 2014 collection styled with Kurt Geiger London ‘Belgravia’ sandals.

‘The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1′ London Photocall

"The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1" - Photocall

Julianne Moore, Jennifer Lawrence, Elizabeth Banks and Natalie Dormer attended the photocall for ‘The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1′ held at the Corinthia Hotel London on Sunday (November 9) in London, England ahead of Monday’s world premiere.

It’s the moment we’ve all been waiting for, but sadly Jena Malone wasn’t in attendance as she was at the EMAs.

Julianne Moore: The actress more than held her own in this quartet wearing a Dries van Noten dress which champions the brand’s retro-modern aesthetic with contrast prints and a relaxed-fit design. Sadly, all the good work is undone with those grey Aquazzura black suede Sexy Thing booties.

Jennifer Lawrence: While tomorrow will most definitely be a Dior night, Jennifer wore her second non-Dior look in a row, donning a white suit from much-buzzed-about new brand Public School. Styled with a black cami top and silver pumps, this is another good look for Jennifer.

Elizabeth Banks: Withdrawing from her Alexander McQueen account early, the actress wore a bold fuchsia frock rendered with a striking contrasting animal and ikat print in a very short design. I usually want to high-five her footwear choices, but I’m not a fan of the Jimmy Choo ‘Vanish’ ankle boots, although I do love the colour.

Natalie Dormer: The British actress usually gives me plenty to shout about, but on this occasion I feel like she hit the mute button. While there is nothing wrong with this Michael Van Der Ham Spring 2015 look, she’s usually oozing with a lot more colour and character.

Meryl Streep In Dries Van Noten – ‘The Giver’ New York Premiere

Meryl Streep In Dries Van Noten - 'The Giver' New York Premiere

Meryl Streep joined Katie Holmes, Taylor Swift and Odeya Rush on the red carpet on Monday (August 11) for the ‘The Giver’ premiere held at the Ziegfeld Theater in New York City.

Keeping in tune with the red theme, the actress wore a Dries van Noten Spring 2014 red sheer top accented with black floral appliqués, which she paired with black tapered trousers.

The colour co-ordination of the surprisingly good look continued with red patent-leather peep-toes and a black patent-leather Christian Louboutin ‘Pigalle’ studded clutch.

As you know, Meryl is very hit and miss on the red carpet. This is a rare hit for me. What’s your view?

Shop Beyonce Knowles’ Closet – Dries van Noten, Tibi & Topshop

Beyonce Knowles In Dries van Noten, Tibi & Topshop

With a break in her world tour, Beyonce Knowles has been updating her Tumblr with her street-style looks.

Look 1: The singer wore a Dries van Noten Fall 2013 ‘Resende’ striped notch-lapel coat styled with a triangle-print Ostwald Helgason orange-grey-and-olive polo shirt with a contrasting white collar paired with green cropped pants. I’m not a fan of the print and stripes together; there is almost too much going on, even for my print-loving tastes, especially when you factor in the Louis Vuitton ‘W GM’ Veau Cachemire leather tote, which is firmly on my must-have list. We’ve seen Jessica Alba, Sarah Jessica Parker and Reese Witherspoon carry variations of this bag.

Look 2: Next up is a Tibi leopard-print knit sweatshirt with a matching skirt, which she styled with thigh-high socks and black booties, topping off the look with her favourite black Topshop hat we’ve seen her rock several times before.

Look 3: Following her performance at Michelle Obama’s 50th birthday party, the singer hit DC wearing the same Carven Pre-Fall 2013 ‘Trompe L’Oeil’ dress you may remember we saw on Elle Fanning last year. The dress is mostly obscured by the over-sized Topshop two-tone coat . The look was styled with her LV bag of the moment, and Topshop’s green ankle socks and black sandals.

I can’t say I am particularly crazy about the looks as styled and presented, but there are some pieces I would like to see in my closet, like the LV bag, and the coats from Dries van Noten and Topshop.
