NAACP Image Awards 2014 Menswear Roundup

NAACP Awards MenNot to be left out, a group of handsome guys also took to the red carpet at the NAACP Image Awards 2014, held at the Pasadena Civic Auditorium in Pasadena, California on Saturday (February 22).

Michael B. Jordan: Consistently a style stud, the ‘Fruitvale Station’ actor and nominee kept up his winning fashion streak in an all-black look, donning a Dior Homme single-button, peak-lapel tuxedo with a cotton, button-down shirt and silk bow tie. He finished the look with his go-to Piaget timepiece and Christian Louboutin ‘New Platers’ flats. Even though there’s just one shade at play here, this sleek entrance is far from dull.

Tony Goldwyn: The ‘Scandal’ actor, who presented co-star Kerry Washington with her Outstanding Actress award, stayed in traditional sartorial territory with his slightly shiny black suit, white button-down and black tie.

Idris Elba: Looking as sharp as ever, the ‘Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom’ actor and nominee paired his well-fitted black tux and bow tie with Christian Louboutin ‘Dada’ flats and a great pair of glasses.

2014 BAFTAs Menswear Roundup

BAFTA men

Ruth Wilson and Angelina Jolie weren’t the only ones suiting up for the 2014 BAFTAs on Sunday (February 16) held at The Royal Opera House in London, England.

Eddie Redmayne: Our Best Dressed Man of 2013 was one of the presenters on the night. He didn’t let us down looking very dapper wearing a Gucci black one button peak lapel Marseille tuxedo with a white evening shirt, black silk bow tie and black patent leather lace ups. His beautiful plus one, Hannah Bagshawe, was also decked out in Gucci Pre-Fall 2013.

Brad Pitt: The actor wore a Valentino tuxedo styled with a black bow-tie. Frankly, I prefer Angelina’s look over his. I don’t get the collarless shirt.

2014 Grammy Awards Menswear Roundup

2014 Grammy Awards Menswear RoundupOn the whole, the fashion hit a flat note at the 2014 Grammy Awards, held on Sunday (January 26) at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California. So I was rather relieved, if not mildly amused, to see the guys turn up the volume on their sartorial statements. Here, a roundup of menswear glimpsed at the show.

Pharrell Williams: The singer-producer, who accepted the record of the year trophy with Daft Punk, couldn’t be missed last night, thanks to his absurdly over-sized Vivienne Westwood Mountain Hat. The rest of the look—a red track jacket, jeans and faded untied boots—took a back seat to the mushy, mountie topper, which naturally drew some silly comparisons and a host of memes. But at least there was some attitude on the red carpet.

Daft Punk: The big winners of the night, the ‘Lucky’ French duo danced their way around in head-to-toe Saint Laurent ensembles. Of course, what really made those dark tuxes and bow ties pop were the silver and gold robot heads, the matching metallic gloves, and the Saint Laurent jodhpur boots in silvery glitter leather.

2014 SAG Awards Menswear Roundup

SAG Awards mens 1A host of stars came out to celebrate their peers at the 2014 SAG Awards, held last night (January 18) at The Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles, California. Here, a roundup of the menswear looks we saw taking to the red carpet.

Jared Leto: The ‘Dallas Buyers Club’ star and outstanding supporting actor winner was ever so handsomely dressed up in a black Dior Homme narrow peak lapel suit, worn with a white cotton wing-tip shirt, a white cotton bow tie, and black patent-leather derbies. While his look was more refined than rocker, the white bow tie and those long ombre locks were the quirky notes that we can always expect with Jared.

Bradley Cooper: Looking unbelievably suave, the ‘American Hustle’ actor donned a black Gucci two-button, velvet notch-lapel ‘Marseille’ tuxedo with a white evening shirt, black bow tie, and black leather lace-up shoes. David Yurman cufflinks and shirt studs completed the formal effect.

Most Worn Brand 2013 – Dior

This past year, the most ubiquitous brand on the backs of red carpet beauties was none other than Christian Dior. Few celebs could deny trotting out the ultra-famous French label, which has long enchanted with its elegance and, now, its edge, too—especially with designer Raf Simons injecting his experimental and slightly surrealist spin on the latest collections.

A style staple during awards season and a fixture at major to-dos—from the Cannes Film Festival to the Met Gala and countless movie premieres—Dior indeed dominated.

Of course, it doesn’t hurt having three ‘it’ girls as Lady Dior and Miss Dior ambassadors, with Marion Cotillard, Natalie Portman and Jennifer Lawrence unsurprisingly showing off the designer on a continual basis.

Throughout the year, Natalie paraded out a wardrobe full of Dior, especially during the ‘Thor: The Dark World’ promo circuit, remedying any fashion fatigue some may have felt towards her partnership with the brand.

French actress Marion also did Dior proud (well, at least during the first part of the year), as she put her personal touch of elegant panache on her designer exits.

And despite much debate, Jennifer still delivered on some positively memorable Dior moments. She nearly exclusively wore the label throughout the year and at ‘The Hunger Games: Catching Fire’ premiere tour.

Other Dior darlings include Cate Blanchett, Emmy Rossum, Jennifer Aniston, Jessica Alba, Jessica Biel, Natalia Vodianova, Nicole Kidman and Zhang Ziyi, with even more starlets seated on the front row at the label’s couture and ready-to-wear shows.

Even the guys got in on the action, with handsome fellas including Idris Elba, Liam Hemsworth and Bruce Willis each wearing Dior Homme.

Jeremy Renner In Dior Homme – ‘American Hustle’ LA Screening

Jeremy Renner In Dior Homme - 'American Hustle' LA Screening

Jeremy Renner joined Amy Adams on the red carpet yesterday evening for the ‘American Hustle’ LA screening held at the Directors Guild Theater in California yesterday evening.

The actor donned a Dior Homme deep-blue wool notch-lapel tuxedo styled with a white cotton shirt, black silk tie and black patent-leather derbies.

We’ve seen many great suits this year but this is one of the most unique yet, as the suit has not only silk lapels but also silk detailing lining the front of the blazer, the pocket and the pants.

Is the silk overplayed here?
