Menswear Red Carpet Roundup

There were so many great menswear looks to take the red-carpet stage over the weekend.

Caleb McLaughlin: At the ripe age of 16, this ‘Stranger Things’ star is showing his incredible flair for style in this 3.1 Phillip Lim paint-splattered ensemble at the 2017 American Music Awards on Sunday (November 19) in LA. I love how he fully committed to the look, right down to the shoes—and that this is both youthful and fashion-forward at the same time.

Harry Styles: At the 2017 Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show on Monday (November 20) in Shanghai, China, Harry did what he does best combining retro and modern style influences in this Givenchy Spring 2018 mint suit and matching silk shirt paired with Givenchy boots.

Machine Gun Kelly: This Comme des Garçons ensemble took the abstract, paint-splattered effect to even greater lengths at the American Music Awards. But, despite the exaggerated elements, the effect came off as directionally cool rather than comical.

Menswear Red Carpet Roundup

From awards galas to premieres and more, there were plenty of occasions for the men to be out in force on the red carpet. Here’s a look at the men who have been front and centre.

Justin Timberlake: Proving that the velvet trend isn’t just for the ladies, Justin cut a thoroughly suave profile in this dark-green velvet Tom Ford tuxedo at the 9th Annual Governors Awards on Saturday (November 11) in Hollywood. I love this luxe twist on the classic tux.

Jason Momoa: Although his styling may have been more in the manner of edgy-bohemian, Jason’s custom Valentino tuxedo was quite smooth and polished at the ‘Justice League’ LA premiere on Monday (November 13).

Jared Leto: It’s Jared Leto and it’s an MTV event, so it’s only natural that he would go sartorially wild at the 2017 MTV EMAs on Sunday (November 12) in London with his latest Gucci endeavor—a Fall 2017 look that was even more subversively rebellious than the runway presentation. The colour discord between the lavender, bubblegum, and red track pants made me want to shield my eyes—and we haven’t even gotten to the tidy-whitey sneakers.

2017 Hollywood Film Awards Menswear Roundup

We saw a number of pretty looks from the female set at the 2017 Hollywood Film Awards on Sunday (November 5) in Beverly Hills, California. But, the men served up some stylish offerings and brought their A game, too.

Garrett Hedlund: I like how his micro-print dress shirt and burnt cappuccino tie brought a note of subtle, retro-forward appeal to his dark mahogany Prada suit.

Timothée Chalamet: Always the style charmer, the actor dressed up in a black tux yet ensured it still had a properly youthful, casual-cool edge by skipping a tie or bow tie.

Jake Gyllenhaal
: Jake was at his handsome best in this Burberry tailoring whereby the tonal silken sheen of the lapels took the suit beyond standard-issue.

Menswear Red Carpet Roundup

From Australia, New York and London, here is our final menswear roundup of the week.

Chris Hemsworth: After a packed red carpet for the LA premiere, Chris was flying solo for the ‘Thor: Ragnarok’ Gold Coast premiere in Australian earlier today. I never thought I could be swayed into liking a brown linen suit, but there’s an relaxed ease about the ensemble which feels like Chris put it together himself. We all know he’s not a huge fan of wearing ties, so I’m not surprised about the inclusion of a simple white tee. I much prefer this to his LA look.

Djimon Hounsou: The handsome actor joined Renee Zellweger for the ‘Same Kind Of Different As Me’ LA premiere last night. I love the tone of his cool-blue suit, I just wish he hadn’t made his timepiece the focus by bunching up his sleeves to ensure it showed.  It ruined the finesse of his suit for me.

Colin Farrell: The Irish actor’s Dior Homme all-of-the-time run continued last night as he joined Nicole Kidman and Emma Stone on the red carpet for the ‘ The Killing of A Sacred Deer’ London premiere. His charcoal grey wool classic peak lapel tuxedo was as sharp and as suave as you can get. Simple, classic and elegant.

Menswear Red Carpet Roundup

Breaking from the ladies, we are taking a look at what the men have been wearing on the red carpet lately.

Robert Pattinson: The Dior Homme ambassador was dressed in the label for the ‘Good Time’ London Film Festival screening on Thursday (October 5). The charcoal grey colour palette and sleek lines of the suit became the focal point as there were no superfluous elements to distract us. The classic white shirt and skinny tie offered a harmonious finish.

JR: The French photographer opted for a statement-making jacket at the MOMA Special Screening of ‘Faces Places’ on Wednesday (October 4) in New York. The Gucci Pre-Fall 2017 suit jacket was decorated with fantastical green dragons across the chest. JR truly made the ensemble his own by accessorising with white sneakers, coordinating sunglasses and a dark hat.

Charlie Plummer: Also in Dior Homme, the young actor attended the ‘Lean on Pete’ London Film Festival premiere on Thursday (October 5). The sharply cut navy suit was enhanced with a crisp white shirt and soft blue tie. If his smile and casual pose are any indication, he clearly feels comfortable in the dashing two-button suit.

Menswear Red Carpet Roundup

Here, a look at what the men have been up to on the red carpet lately.

Andrew Garfield: Joining Claire Foy for the ‘Breathe’ premiere at the BFI London Film Festival on Wednesday (October 4), Andrew couldn’t have looked more dapper if he tried in this Tom Ford tuxedo. There’s just something about the classic refinement of a tailored-to-perfection tux that gets me every time.

Winston Duke: The actor also made the honourable list of People’s ‘Ones To Watch,’ where he joined Paris Jackson for the celebration in LA on Wednesday (October 4). With this Hugo Boss suit and pops of burnt-orange accessories, he proved his style is something to look out for, too.

Jake Gyllenhaal: Jake has been making waves as the handsome new face of Eternity by Calvin Klein, but on Tuesday (October 3), he brought his eternally fine form to the ‘Stronger’ premiere during the 13th Zurich Film Festival. This Gucci midnight-navy suit checked the box—and blue is most certainly his colour—but I would have loved to see him push the envelope just a bit more.
