2015 Grammy Awards Men Red Carpet Roundup

Grammys mens

A handful of gents made waves at the 2015 Grammy Awards on Sunday (February 8) at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California, where their looks carried some eclectic personality, yet still fell in a rather safe camp for such a night.

Kanye West: Striking a tough, hands-in-pockets pose, the rapper and nominee accentuated the aloof attitude in a Balmain Homme suit, worn shirtless with a slight slouch to the pants. It all made sense until I saw the weathered pair of black cowboy boots, which was the unexpected, rebel twist. Yay or nay to the boots?

Jay Z: The music mogul was dressed to impress in a Burberry modern-fit English-woven wool and mohair tuxedo in an inky blue hue with a black silk contrast shawl collar. He couldn’t have looked sharper if he tried.

Common
: Taking a monochromatic, all-black approach, the rapper and multiple nominee wore a well-tailored Givenchy suit that he pulled off handsomely enough to not appear too one-note.

2015 Critics’ Choice Movie Awards Menswear Roundup

2015 Critics' Choice Movie Awards Menswear Roundup

Here’s a quick roundup of the men who took to the red carpet for the 2015 Critics’ Choice Movie Awards held at the Hollywood Palladium on Thursday (January 15) in Los Angeles, California.

Eddie Redmayne: Giving just that little bit extra, which always sees him standing above his peers, the actor opted for a sharp Valentino shawl-collar tuxedo in his favoured slim-fit silhouette.

Jared Leto: Following the Globes, I was worried he had lost his mojo, but here he’s bursting with flavour. Standing out wearing a bright blue Costume National blazer accented with a pink carnation, you have to admire his courage in always doing something different. Thankfully opting for black trousers instead of going full blue, he did match his blazer to his sock with an extra kick coming from his Swarovski-embellished Louis Leeman loafers. On this occasion he swapped his man-braid for a man-bun.

Ethan Hawke: Yet to wear a black suit this awards season, the ‘Boyhood’ actor also stood out, donning a Lanvin light grey suit with black velvet piping. These top three will most definitely keep menswear interesting this awards season.

2015 Golden Globes Menswear Roundup

2015 Golden Globes Menswear Roundup

The guys were none too shabby when it came to their sartorial selections at the 2015 Golden Globe Awards, held last night (January 11) at The Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, California, boasting a range of looks that went way beyond the standard black tux.

Matt Bomer: The Best Supporting Actor winner for ‘The Normal Heart’ was dressed just as winningly in an impeccable Ralph Lauren Black Label navy shawl collar tuxedo that naturally brought out his own baby blues and was handsomely paired with a dark bowtie and crisp white button-down shirt.

Eddie Redmayne: Looking as sharp as ever, ‘The Theory of Everything’ Best Actor winner took a Euro-cool version of black velvet out for a spin, donning a Gucci notch-lapel, two-button New Signoria evening jacket with a white evening shirt, black satin bowtie, black tuxedo trousers and black patent leather lace-up shoes.

Alan Cumming
: Having quite the nude moment, ‘The Good Wife’ actor and nominee wore a buff wool, two-button peak lapel tuxedo, buff dress shirt and buff silk skinny tie from the Spring 2015 Calvin Klein Collection. Between the monochromatic buff-ness and the rolled pant legs, not to mention his Christian Louboutin ‘Mika On Stage’ sneakers, this look translated as more comical than cool.

Menswear Midweek Roundup 10 dec

Here is a quick roundup of a few fine gentlemen who took to the red carpet on Tuesday night (December 9).

Orlando Bloom: Joining Evangeline Lilly on the red carpet for the LA premiere of ‘The Hobbit: The Battle Of The Five Armies’, the actor went for a smart-casual Dior Homme navy wool two-button notch-lapel suit styled with a red cotton, small collar, graphic jacquard print shirt and smart sneakers. Was the look too casual?

Eddie Redmayne: Eddie joined Felicity Jones on the red carpet for the London premiere of ‘The Theory Of Everything’. Decked out in a very smart Hardy Amies plaid suit, the actor, as always, goes above and beyond when it comes to red carpet dressing. He has worn many a great suit on the red carpet, but this one is for his hall of fame.

Richard Armitage: Also taking to the red carpet for the ‘Hobbit’ premiere, the actor opted to revamp his classic style with a double-breasted, peaked-lapel plaid blazer. This marvellous piece was paired with dark grey trousers, not opting to go all the way like Eddie. Should he have, or do you like Richard’s take on modern suiting?

Best Dressed Of The Week – Taylor Swift In Zuhair Muard, Sienna Miller In Burberry & David Beckham In Dior Homme

Best Dressed Of The Week - Taylor Swift In Zuhair Muard, Sienna Miller In Burberry & David Beckham In Dior Homme

Taylor Swift’s Zuhair Murad Couture gown, which she wore to the Victoria’s Secret after-party, was your favourite look this week, narrowly beating out my favourite, Sienna Miller, who wore a stunning Burberry gown to the London Evening Standard Theatre Awards, a look that I feel is her best in a long while.

The race for best-dressed man of the week was just as close. David Beckham in Dior Homme narrowly beat out Tom Hiddleston in Alexander McQueen by 1%.

Menswear Midweek Red Carpet Roundup

Men 3 december

Here is a quick roundup of the men who have suited up in the name of fashion and movie premieres so far this week.

David Beckham: The former soccer star wore a Dior Homme wool and silk shawl-collar tuxedo. Black on black on black never looked so good. I love how he added a World AIDS Day red ribbon in support of the charity and his wife Victoria Beckham, who is a UNAIDS ambassador, while attending the British Fashion Awards.

Orlando Bloom: While the hair is a tad girlified for my liking, one can’t fault the British actor’s navy blue Lanvin silk shawl-collar tuxedo worn to the world premiere of ‘The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies’ on Monday alongside Evangeline Lilly.

Harry Styles: Always looking very sharp, Harry wore a red vertical-striped suit from Lanvin’s Fall 2014 collection. Probably committing something of a fashion faux pas wearing a French brand to the British Fashion Awards, who has time to nitpick when this mod look suits his style to a T?
