Red Carpet Fashion Awards

Yasmin Le Bon apparently didn’t read the invite for the Chanel: The Little Black Jacket private viewing which was held at the Saatchi Gallery in London last night.

Instead of wearing a head-to-toe Chanel look like the rest of the herd, she wore a Christopher Kane Fall 2012 dress.

Her structured silk moire dress featuring a solid leather collar and yoke, square-shaped leather piping detail throughout, slip pockets at the front, and a self-tie leather rope belt at the back would’ve made her stand as the most fashion-forward person on this red carpet.

The model styled her look with black open-toe booties and a black clutch.

Was Yasmin right to go off brief, or would you have preferred her to wear a classic Chanel look like the rest?

Caroline Sieber attended the MAC & Carine Roitfeld ‘Le Bal’ event on Tuesday night during Paris Fashion Week.

Despite the invite saying ‘black tie – smoky eye’, the stylist and FROWer wore a Christopher Kane Spring 2013 dress. Our first look at this collection on the red carpet.

The Christopher Kane Spring 2013 collection, which takes inspiration from Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein, is currently available to pre-order from ModaOperandi.com.

You have until October 9 to pre-order the 39 stunning looks available including Caroline’s V-neck flounce dress, the split hem bolt dress and the awesome organza lace and gem-accented finale dress.

Considering there were so many ladylike pieces on display, I was surprised that Christopher Kane sought Frankenstein as inspiration for his Spring 2013 collection.

Pretty pink, yellow, white dresses, cardigans, skirt suits and jackets took to the v-shaped mirrored runway on Monday afternoon.

The twist was several of these pieces were accented with plastic nuts and bolts or electrical tape for a typically surprising twist which will delight the likes of Alexa Chung and Leigh Lezark, but for Christopher’s newest fan, Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge, there were über feminine pretty bow accents.

For those seeking something a lot tougher, Kane sent out models in floral-embossed biker jackets and for the daring the sheer dresses are sure to tantalise.

While there were no gowns, there were plenty of red carpet options. I see the fringed dress making an appearance on the red carpet along with several other pieces including the embellished finale pieces.

Models hair was slicked back into a high ponytail sporty a pale face with dark lower lid eye makeup.

Front Row: Alexa Chung, Leigh Lezark, Daisy Lowe, Poppy Delevingne

Favourites: White pants suit and bow-print chiffon dress

The London 2012 Closing Ceremony, which took place at the Olympic Stadium yesterday evening, was not only about British culture and music; it was also about fashion.

A selection of our finest and most iconic supermodels took to the stage showcasing British Fashion to its largest-ever global audience.

They were all dressed in pure gold to celebrate Team GB’s 29-gold-medals haul.

From left to right we have Lily Cole wearing an Erdem gold embroidered and lace cocktail dress with gold Charlotte Olympia ankle-strap pumps.

Stella Tennant rocked a Christopher Kane metal mesh and Swarovski crystal pant suit with a rockstar spiked hairdo. One of my favourites of the night.

Karen Elson was more serene wearing a Burberry gold-lace evening dress with a slit which revealed her Jimmy Choo gold ‘Private’ sandals. Read more…

It’s not often we see Rosamund Pike sporting such a laidback look, but it was event appropriate for the Stone Roses Adidas secret gig held at Adidas Underground in London on Monday night.

Sporting a simple white tee and black pants, the British actress added an eye-catching Christopher Kane animal print biker jacket to her look.

Opting for ‘just-got-out-of-the-shower’ hair, Rosamund completed the look with black leather booties and a gold bracelet.

Queen Elizabeth hosted a pre-Olympics reception at Buckingham Palace on Friday for Heads of State and Government prior to the opening ceremony.

I was excited to learn via Twitter that Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge, wore Christopher Kane, but when I clicked through to the link, the picture I had conjured up in my head didn’t match the picture I saw in front of me.

The pale blue custom silk satin coat dress is very much what we expect from Kate – simple and event appropriate – but it‘s a world away from the edgy aesthetic which we associate with the Scottish designer Christopher Kane.

The single-breasted piece with long-sleeves, pockets and a belted waist is expertly tailored to give her a streamlined silhouette.

A nude box clutch and I’m guessing matching L.K. Bennett pumps completed her look.

I know many of you are constantly frustrated with the Duchess’ association with Alexander McQueen, so how do you feel about this look?

Should Kate stick to designers who suit her ladylike style aesthetic like Katherine Hooker and Emilia Wickstead or is she doing a good thing by introducing a wider audience to a designer like Christopher Kane?
