St. Vincent In Céline – 29th Annual Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame Induction Ceremony

St Vincent In Céline - 29th Annual Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame Induction Ceremony

St. Vincent, aka Annie Clark, joined Lorde on stage for the tribute to Kurt Cobain and Nirvana’s history and legacy which saw them inducted into the Rock Hall of Fame in a ceremony held at the Barclays Center on Thursday (April 10) in New York City.

Just yesterday I was bemoaning the fact that we don’t see enough Céline on the red carpet, and then, like buses, two came along at once.

As someone commented on the post, the key to making this look work is to break down the runway styling.

St. Vincent did just that, wearing the colourful brush-stroke mini dress without the sheer pleated skirt.

While I loved the additional skirt, St. Vincent’s look packs a mighty punch as a perfect rock chick performance piece.

Rihanna In Céline – Los Angeles Clippers vs. Oklahoma City Thunder Game

Rihanna In Céline - Los Angeles Clippers vs

Rihanna watched the Los Angeles Clippers vs. Oklahoma City Thunder game at Staples Center in LA on Wednesday night (April 9).

The singer took her courtside seat next to her BFF Melissa Forde wearing a sporty look from Céline’s Spring 2014 collection which consisted of a navy ribbed dress with striped details on the body and collar styled with Nike Air Max.

Celine’s Spring 2014 collection hasn’t been given the red carpet attention I had hoped for; however, this is somewhat understandable as the majority of the pieces are quite difficult to pull off and I would assume the brand is particular about who wears what.

On the plus side, the collection has appeared heavily in editorials, most notably Cate Blanchett’s January 2014 Vogue cover and Lena Dunham’s February 2014 Vogue editorial.

16th Annual Mark Twain Prize For American Humor

16th Annual Mark Twain Prize For American Humor

A trio of funny girls turned out for the 16th Annual Mark Twain Prize For American Humor held at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington. D.C. on Sunday.

Rashida Jones: The actress buttoned up in a Miu Miu floral-embroidered top paired with high-waisted black Celine sailor pants, a Chanel clutch and YSL shoes. A retro-look statement earring, along with a crimson lip and wavy ponytail, finished the straightforward ensemble with a fun flair.

Tina Fey: Lace was Tina’s trend of the day with her black Oscar de la Renta cocktail dress, which she wore with peep-toe slingback pumps and a black satin clutch—and a ponytail.

Amy Poehler: There wasn’t much to like or dislike about this basic black dress with a lightly embellished collar neckline. The clunky black heels didn’t do the frock any favours.

Anna Dello Russo @ Paris Fashion Week Part II

Fashion month wouldn’t be half as entertaining without Anna Dello Russo, so let’s catch up with our favourite fashion editor.

Christian Dior: Anna Dello Russo has been a fan of Fausto Puglisi long before the likes of Lily Collins and Bella Thorne fell for the designer’s charms. Once again she donned a Spring 2014 look fresh off the Milan runway, selecting a blue-and-black dress with a sculptured flared skirt with sequin palm-tree embellishments, styled with her favourite Tom Ford sandals.

Valentino: The quirk factor has been missing from Anna’s street-style repertoire for a few seasons – remember the season she loved wearing fruit on her head? Here her love for fancy hats returns, donning a black cap with Mickey Mouse ears with her Valentino Fall 2013 black-and-white look featuring Valentino black dress with a contrasting leather collar and cuffs with the Valentino patent-leather-and-suede T-bar pumps which are a favourite among the fashion set.

Celine: Having worn a top-to-toe Celine look last week, Anna selected another Pre-Fall 2013 look, donning a loose-fitted suit featuring a double-breasted blazer accented with gold buttons styled with black shoes with a gold-metal plate and her straw boater.

Givenchy: Anna jumped on the Bambi bandwagon at Givenchy. Like Lily Collins, she also opted to wear her sweater as a dress, adding a studded belt.

Anna Dello Russo’s Four Looks In One Day

Anna Dello Russo's Four Looks In One Day

Following her head scratcher from the previous day, Anna Dello Russo was back on fine form taking to her playground with four separate looks in one day.

While you are saying “who’s got that kinda time?”, let’s dissect the looks.

Balenciaga: Anna kick-started her day wearing a leather Celine Pre-Fall 2013 mini dress styled with both the oversized Celine belt and the dual-colour lace-up flatforms that this look was styled with in the look book.  Adding her own creativity, she styled the look with a straw boater, a black clutch and a Lanvin ‘Happy’ gold necklace.

Balmain: For quick-change number two she wore a floral Valentino Fall 2012 flirty frock with contrasting white collar and cuffs.  This is my least favourite of the looks as it is far too twee for Anna.  She should leave this for the likes of Miroslava Duma.  Also, the styling doesn’t work for me.  Not the bag and especially not the shoes.

Lanvin: By nightfall, Anna really got into her stride.  She wore a head-to-toe perfect look, mixing a Lanvin Fall 2013 strapless butterfly-print dress with a contrasting black-and-nude ponyskin belt which I find really enticing.  Plus she went the distance adding an opulent necklace, a two-tone clutch and black strappy sandals.

Moncler Dinner: While most probably went from the Lanvin show to the Moncler party without passing ‘Go’, Anna nipped back to her hotel for her fourth and final look of the day.  Possibly saving the best for last, she put on her silver sparkling heels to dazzle partygoers in her fresh-off-the-runway Fendi Spring 2014 look, which featured a crystal-embroidered mini skirt and a sheer top with broken-effect red pieces.

The evening looks are preferred over the day looks.  I think I slightly favour the Lanvin over the Fendi, but only by half a per cent.
