Weekend Red Carpet Roundup

weekend roundup

The weekend brought with it a garden variety of ensembles from Los Angeles to London, and more. Here, a glance at the looks and the starlets who wore them.

Emma Roberts: Joining Diane Kruger and Freida Pinto, the actress was at the 8th annual Veuve Clicquot Polo Classic at Liberty State Park on Saturday (May 30) in Jersey City, New Jersey. She styled her sunny yellow Christine Alcalay Spring 2015 dress with Michael Kors Benji straw wedge sandals, an M2malletier Mini Amor Fati leopard pony bag, and Preen by Thornton Bregazzi Chantilly sunglasses, all topped off with a braided ’do.

Elsa Pataky: Elsa was the picture of girly charm, as she joined Emily Blunt at the Audi Polo Challenge at Coworth Park on Sunday (May 31) in London, England. Her rose-printed Ulyana Sergeenko demi couture dress was adorable yet I would have loved to see it without the pink sweater. Casadei nude suede pumps assured her legs went on for days, with a Paula Cademartori clutch finishing the look.

Sophia Bush: The actress was at Glamour USA’s June ‘Success’ Issue dinner party at the Chateau Marmont in Los Angeles, California on Friday (May 29). While her Vivienne Westwood Fall 2015 dress, worn with a Rauwolf clutch and Giuseppe Zanotti sandals, was rather elaborate with its heavy print and silhouette, she ensured the look stayed fresh with her hair and makeup on the barely-there side.

Zhang Ziyi In Carolina Herrera – 2015 Met Gala

Zhang Ziyi In Carolina Herrera - 2015 Met Gala

Zhang Ziyi attended the ‘China: Through the Looking Glass’ 2015 Met Gala at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City on Monday (May 4) with designer Carolina Herrera at her side.

Gracefully encompassing the evening’s theme, the Chinese actress stunned in a custom Carolina Herrera cream gown with a high collared neckline and delicate floral embellishment.

I love this look for its classic elegance infused with a modern sculptural quality and dimensional embroidery.

The bracelet and dark handbag felt unnecessary, with a tonal cream bag providing less of a distracting contrast to the artistry of the dress.

Who Wore Carolina Herrera Better…Emmy Rossum or Juana Acosta?

Who Wore Carolina Herrera Better Emmy Rossum or Juana Acosta

Emmy Rossum attended the Art Production Fund’s White Glove Gone Wild Gala back in March 2014, wearing a gorgeous Carolina Herrera Pre-Fall 2014 gown.

Emmy and Herrera have always produced breath-taking results, and that was very much the case on this occasion.

Juana Acosta wore the same gown to the 2015 Goya Awards in February, styling the look with Swarovski clutch and Barcena jewels.

Both women look gorgeous, but Emmy wins for me. The clean, simple styling of this look won me over.

Gugu Mbatha-Raw In Carolina Herrera – 8th Annual ESSENCE Black Women In Hollywood Luncheon

Gugu Mbatha-Raw In Carolina Herrera - 8th Annual ESSENCE Black Women In Hollywood Luncheon

Gugu Mbatha-Raw attended the 8th annual ESSENCE Black Women In Hollywood luncheon held at the Beverly Wilshire Four Seasons Hotel on Thursday (February 19) in Beverly Hills, California.

I love how the blue and black floral print lends a touch of whimsy to this impeccably tailored Carolina Herrera dress, which would work just as well strapless. In fact I think it would’ve worked even better strapless.

Gugu continues to be one of my faves for the same reason I love Emmy Rossum – unwavering commitment to ladylike dressing.

While the navy Louboutins are a tad snooze-worthy, with those gorgeous curls swept up into a chic updo and that pretty pink lip, sparkling Kwiat jewels and of course that gorgeous face, who’s looking at her shoes?

Carolina Herrera Fall 2015 Front Row

Carolina Herrera Fall 2015 Front Row

Carolina Herrera presented her Fall 2015 collection during New York Fashion Week on Monday (February 16) in New York City.

While I eagerly await the moment when Emmy Rossum or Camilla Belle take to the red carpet in that gorgeous sky-blue strapless tiered gown, let’s see who got to see the collection first hand in the front row.

Olivia Palermo: Those who thought Olivia rude for not wearing Fendi to the Fendi event last week will be delighted to know she wore CH Carolina Herrera on this occasion; however, for me this black and white floral cloque dress doesn’t really appear to be suited to her style. Dare I say it feels too prissy.

Dianna Agron: The ‘Glee’ actress has long been a fan of the Venezuelan-American designer, and vice versa. Dianna’s best Carolina Herrera moment for me was the 2012 Met Gala. On this occasion she carried a CH Carolina Herrera ‘Maysa’ bag wearing a Carolina Herrera airy black and blue floral-print dress that complemented the backdrop. Had this not been in New York, where temperatures are well below freezing, I would’ve been put off by the tights.

Jordana Brewster: Opting not to go the uber-girlie route, the actress opted for Carolina Herrera chic separates with a distinct edgier flair, which incorporated leather pants. The black and white combo was interrupted by a python CH Carolina Herrera ‘Astrud’ bag.
