As hard as I tried, I just couldn’t love Kristen Stewart in this stunning Oscar de la Renta Resort 2010 tulle gown.

If she wanted to be the Bella of this ball she shouldn’t scowled her way down the red carpet, and she should’ve done more with her hair.

For me this is a waste of a stunning gown.

As much as it was Kristen’s night, Dakota Fanning stole her red carpet thunder.

The teen actress wore a cute Valentino Spring 2010 lace dress paired with a maroon satin pair of platform heels.

I would’ve loved it if she had kept the cute bow, but I guess she was going for a more grown up look.

Definitely a BDOTW contender…

…as is Ashley Greene .

She was a total knock-out wearing a Prabal Gurung Fall 2009 ravishing red gown.

The high-neck gown had an incredibly sexy draping detail at the back.

Half-up-half-down hairstyles usually bother me, but Ashley has so much good going on I can not fault her.

Noot Seear surprised me being the 3rd celebrity to wear a piece from Alexander McQueen’s Spring 2010 collection.

I’ll admit I didn’t know who she was, but the Canadian actress sure does justice to this reptile print dress.

Instead of the Armadillo heels she opted for a sexy pair of strappy platform heels.

Anna Kendrick sparkled on the red carpet wearing a Talbot Runhof Fall 2009 black asymmetrical one sleeve sequin-mini dress.

This dress sure does put you in the festive spirit with the red and white studs which add a bit of colour to this cute/sexy mini.

She completed her look with Stella McCartney heels.

I’m very grateful to Christian Serratos for modifying this Rafael Cennamo Fall 2009 gown into a cute and sassy mini dress.

I just wish her gold and silver pailette covered mini dress was worn with better shoes.

Those bronze ankle boots are like kryptonite to my eyes.

Author Stephenie Meyer glided down the red carpet wearing a custom-made Carolina Herrera gown with a mermaid hem.

The gown is loosely based black and grey embroidered sheath dress which was presented on the Fall 2009 runway.

I love how much more dramatic Stephenie’s gown is to the runway look.

A chic updo and Gothic beads complete this stunning look.

Julia Jones showed off her legs wearing a sexy coral BCBG Max Azria mini dress.

I just love this colour against her caramel skin.

What a beauty.

Julianne Hough’s look has a touch of de ja vu to it, as it reminds me of the Prabal Gurung look we saw on Becki Newton recently.

Nikki Reed opted for a stunning silk baby blue Burberry mini dress, paired with Christian Louboutin heels.

Eva Mendes looked incredibly chic wearing a lavender Christian Dior Resort 2010 polka dot dress, worn with a cute white bow accented belt.

She could’ve been obvious and paired her dress with white accessories like the runway, but she instead wore dove grey heels and carried a silver clutch.

Jessica Alba wore a very simple Prada Resort 2010 dress, but I really love this look.

She’s making me eat my words about “boring black dresses” because she looks outstanding.

Bow accented heels and flawless make-up complete this stunning look and have me keeping this look in consideration for BDOTW.

Jordana Brewster was another favourite.  She was very much on the opposite end of the colour spectrum wearing a creme and ultramarine Carolina Herrera Pre-Fall 2009 dress.

I love the flutter detail around the arm openings, but the shoes are too clunky for this dress.

The runway shoes would have been too matchy matchy, but I would have preferred them to what Jordana is currently wearing.

*Sighs*

I hope Camilla Belle continues to never have a day off looking fabulous.  It would be a very sad day indeed.

Some of you may think what’s the big deal, she’s just wearing a Jason Wu blue dress.

I’d say look at her, she’s naturally glowing.  Her accessories complement her stunning pleated dress.  Not a single hair is out of place and her make-up is flawless.

Yes she should’ve ditched the fringed bag for this picture, but it’s a small detail when everything else looks so perfect.

Most celebrities grow out of their obsessions, but Diane Kruger is still loving her black bows.

This was evident from her bow accented blue blouse which she wore with navy shorts.

For most this would only be acceptable as an off-duty look, but Diane can stand shoulder to shoulder with Eva Mendes in her Dior dress and still look equally chic.

That’s why we all adore her.

I love to bringing you red carpet stylish events from around the world, and this time we head to Madrid for the 2009 Telva Magazine Fashion Awards where Angel Schlesser was awarded “Best National Designer” and Diane Von Furstenberg was awarded “Best International Designer”.

Angel dressed many of the beautiful women at this event, whilst presenting himself in a very smart black suit.

Diane looked outstanding wearing a liquid gold gown with an embellished neckline.

Carolina Adriana Herrera and Genoveva Casanova both glammed up in Carolina Herrera gowns.

Carolina wore a stand out purple gown from the recent Spring 2010 presentation, with a central split and a criss cross detail going across the bodice.

Genoveva wore a grey Fall 2009, which was never my favourite gown from this collection but it looks really good on her.

A red carpet event is not a red carpet event without an Elie Saab gown.

Actress Paula Echevarria was breath-taking wearing a purple gown with a satin sash wrapped around the dress into a bow detail which rested on her shoulder.

Her orange jeweled clutch is by Dior.

BDOTW worthy.

I also loved Daphne Fernandez’ Hannibal Laguna Fall 2009 gown as it’s so dramatic, with the stunning embroidery details and the mermaid hem.

Daphne and the model are working the hell out of this exquisite gown. Kudos to both of them.

This is BDOTW worthy too.

Spanish writer Espido Freire’s pink Hannibal Laguna Spring 2009 dress was the most stunning on this red carpet, but she badly lets herself down with the Paco Gil shoes and and that blue shawl she’s carrying.

Things like the shawl need to be handed to the nearest lacky during photo ops.

Her jewels were by Vasari.

I think I’ve said it once…no I’ve said it a thousand times, this electric blue colour is so captivating on the red carpet.

I’m like a moth to a flame whenever I see this colour on the red carpet.

Tamara Falco looked divine in her Notte by Marchesa Fall 2009 one-shouldered gown with an embellished detail on the strap and bodice.

Arantxa del Sol looked spectacular wearing an Oscar de la Renta pleated duchess satin gown which was my favourite from the Fall 2009 collection.

She paired it with the runway belt which matched her clutch.

We’ve seen this Valentino Spring 2009 red dress many times on the red carpet and I always say the same thing.

Why would anyone want to wear a gown which is so unflattering on the hips?

Fiona Ferrer proves me right, as she looks so bottom heavy.

Alejandra Martos was kept in the shade wearing a strapless black gown, whilst Tony Acosta stood out wearing a two tone Oscar de la Renta Pre-Fall 2009 gown with a red rosette detail on the waist.

I love the shiny effect of her black skirt.

Vanessa Lorenzo opted for a blue shapeless gown of her own design, whilst Natalia Lopez looked angelic wearing an Angel Schlesser Spring 2010 ivory wrap gown.

Whilst everyone opted for gowns, TV personality Patricia Conde picked a youthful sassy Louis Vuitton Fall 2009 black and nude ensemble.

She went head-to-toe LV, as she paired her look with a LV gold clutch and Cancan heels.

It could just be the light, but I much prefer the softer blue runway version of Monica Molina’s Angel Schlesser Spring 2010 dress.

This black Juanjo Oliva Fall 2009 gown as worn by Nieves Alvarez is so amazing that it’s such a same the detail is lost against the black carpet and black background.

Her look is complete with a Roger Vivier clutch.

Model Martina Klein was pretty in a pink Angel Schlesser Spring 2010 mini dress with a ruffled detail on the bodice.

Here are some more looks by special request.

Princess Elena of Spain looked breath-taking wearing an Angel Schlesser Spring 2010 strapless gown.

I love the cerulean blue colour she wore, as it’s more regal to the ivory runway version.

Spanish model Mar Flores’ Angel Schlesser Spring 2010 strapless gown looks so buttery against her olive skin.

The feathered detail is a nice finishing touch.

Spanish model Estefania Luyk wore a taupe Giorgio Armani Pre-Fall 2009 strapless dress, but as usual I’m more drawn to the colourful Paco Rabanne confection that actress Laura Pamplona is wearing.

Carmen Lomana opted for a silky blue Juanjo Oliva Spring 2010 dress

September 20th, 2009

The ALMA Awards aired last night, and here are the stunning gowns Eva Longoria wore.

Last year she changed 8 times during the night.  This time only 7 changes.

You’ll recognise the first gown because Emily Deschanel wore the strapless version of this stunning tulle Gustavo Cadile Fall 2009 gown at the 2009 Monte Carlo Television Festival Closing Ceremony.

The main difference is that Eva’s gown has been modified to become a one-shouldered gown with a contrast eggplant sash.

I adore this gown from the colour to the tiered skirt, and I’ve been in love with it from the very second I saw it in Cadile’s showroom.

Her second gown was also by Gustavo Cadile. This time she picked a luscious green gown from his Resort 2010 collection.

This gown also has a one-shoulder detail with a fan over her shoulder for added dramatic effect to the volume of the piece.

I don’t ever remember Eva wearing green before, but the colour is vibrant and really pops against her skin.

Eva’s next look was an Angel Sanchez Bridal Spring 2009 gown.

Thankfully this one-shoulder gown doesn’t have a sickly sweet bridal feel to it, as its quite simple with just bow detail on the bodice.

She gives this look an old Hollywood feel with her retro 50s hairstyle.

I’m really disappointed I couldn’t find a full-length version of Eva’s Carlos Miele Fall 2009 gown, as I think it would have looked spectacular on her with the dual prints and the chiffon flowing train.

Those hooped earrings are huge.

I would go as far as to say this Caroline Herrera Fall 2009 gown was my least favourite of the Fall 2009 season, and I dislike it even more on Eva.

It does nothing for her.

The other gowns brings colour, texture and vitality - this is just grey, dull, and unflattering for Eva.

Oscar de la Renta gowns were the 2 final looks for Eva on the night.

I love the blush gown with the sequin overlay. This kind of colour I really allows Eva to glow.

The black and white floral gown feels like it is swamping Eva with the 2 layers. This would be my second least favourite after the Herrera horror.

Anna Wintour appeared on “The Late Show with David Letterman” last night in the US to promote her documentary “The September Issue”.

I love how Anna arrived on the stage wearing her signature shades with a gorgeous black and white floral Carolina Herrera Resort 2010 dress, with her favourite nude shoes.

David doesn’t give Anna an easy ride as during the interview, as he asks her about her reputation and “The Devils Wears Prada” movie.

When asked if she really was as cold as the Miranda Priestly in “The Devil Wears Prada” she replied, “I seem to remember that the movie was fiction. We really like fiction at Vogue”.

When asked about her reputation Anna replied, “Well, I’m very decisive and I try and give very clear direction to the people that I’m working with, and sometimes, unfortunately, they don’t hear the answer that they would like to hear.”

He later asks her if she’s ever put anyone in a headlock. “Maybe you?,” Wintour shot back, sending the audience into fits of laughter.

I enjoyed the interview, I was surprised at the good humour in which she took David’s question and comments.

August 20th, 2009

US Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour walked the red carpet last night as the host of “The September Issue” New York premiere.

The R.J. Cutler documentary chronicles the making of the fashion bible’s 2007 September edition, which remains its biggest issue to date.

After seeing the Prada Resort 2010 collection, I was intrigued to see which piece - if any - Anna would pick from this collection.

Anna has never been scared of bold prints, so it wasn’t a surprise that she picked this interesting piece which was modified to cover her shoulders.

Beige kitten heels, a dazzling necklace and trademark bob completed the look.

Sienna Miller - the cover star of the September 2007 issue this documentary chronicles - showed off how lengthy her toned legs are wearing a blue sky Thakoon Resort 2010 strapless mini dress.

I love the texture of this dress which is cleverly draped, twisted and gathered to create volume.

A silver Bottega Ventea clutch, large chandelier earrings and gold Jimmy Choo heels complete this look.

J’Adore.

Renee Zellweger’s shortened Carolina Herrera Resort 2010 orange draped brocade dress was the perfect choice to show off her best feature - her legs.

Some of you expressed how you’re a tad bored of the Renee/Herrera collabo, but I really love how each piece is tailor-made or modified to suit Renee’s style.

If it was the same silhouette or same colour I would be bored too, but the two of them give us something new every time.

Sexy strappy heels and her trademark pout complete the look.

I will forever love Carey Mulligan for wearing my favourite dress from the Thakoon Resort 2010 collection.

I adore this colourful dress, which drapes better on the runway.  It’s like opening a packet of Starburst.

Actress Zoe Kazan combined two pieces from the Jason Wu Resort 2010 collection to create her own casual look.

I don’t like the uninspired heavy black heels with this summery look.  The runway heels to the left would have been a better choice.

You may remember Emma Watson wore this same Jason Wu Resort look when traveling between shows whilst promoting “Harry Potter”.

Shortening seems to be the new black, as Hilary Rhoda like Renee, shorten her Rachel Roy Resort 2009 dress.

Her floral dress was pair with Manolo Blahhnik white and black stitched heels.

Designers Oscar de la Renta and Carolina Herrera arrived together.

He wore a beige suit, whilst she looked radiant wearing an orange and white floral skirt from her Resort 2010 collection, with a crisp white shirt which is very much her trademark look.

Designer Tory Burch decided against wearing a piece from her own collection opting for this gorgeous purple Narciso Rodriguez silk dress from the 2009 Pre-Fall collection.

The cap sleeve dress has a wide self-tie belt that wraps around dress, which can create Rodriguez’ signature criss cross detail.

I love the dress and the strappy heels, but I really dislike her pink feathery bag.  What a way to ruin a look.

Designer Cynthia Rowley opted for a vibrant blue shortened dress from her Fall 2009 collection.

She looked stunning wearing her dress with a blue and black embroidered belt, and Elizabeth & James elastic wedge sandals.

Georgina Chapman opted for a silver long sleeved tunic dress with sprinkles of gold embellishments, which shimmered as she walked the red carpet.

Her dress had a matching silver roped tied the waist.  Her look was complete with grey Christian Louboutin kitten heels and a matching clutch.

Vera Wang opted for a simple grey tank which she punched up with a trademark bejeweled necklace.

I particularly love her Resort 2010 asymmetrical layered skirt, which she wore with Prada Spring 2009 snake-skin heels.

Alexa Chung dress has the floaty ethereal feel of the Calvin Klein Resort 2010 collection, which I’ll guess is actually a vintage dress.

It appears Alexa still hasn’t washed her hair from the last time she stepped onto the red carpet for the “Inglourious Basterds” New York Screening earlier this week.

TRESemme and some lukewarm water. Don’t be afraid to introduce them to your hair Miss Chung.

Bee Shaffer’s lilac belted dress is divine, both in colour and style.

It shows off her legs and accentuates her curvy figure.

Designer Donna Karan and singer Cassie arrived wearing similar plunging black jumpsuits.

Donna opted for gladiator flats with her look, whilst Cassie wore platform boots.

“The September Issue” hits theaters in New York on August 28, and select cities on September 11.

August 19th, 2009

Renee Zellweger was inducted into the Hall of Fame on ‘Vanity Fair’s 70th Annual International Best-Dressed List’, which I think was well deserved.

I love Renee. She always wears Carolina Herrera, yet it never becomes boring or stale mostly because the dresses are modified to suit the actress chic style.

She once went a whole year only wearing strapless dresses, but she mixes things up a lot more now.

On Saturday she attended a special screening of her new movie “My One and Only”, attended by Marc Jacobs, Jon Bon Jovi, and Tory Burch.

Renee looked radiant wearing a Carolina Herrera Resort 2010 halter dress, with a silver floral print and a silver sash on the waist.

The dress of course has been modified from the runway, as we’ve come to expect.

Her dress was paired with silver strappy sandals.

Yesterday Renee started off her day with an appearance on ‘Good Morning America’.

The surprised thing here is not the large orange Hermes Birkin - because orange was one of the main colours used in the Carolina Herrera Resort 2010 collection - the surprise is that her grey pencil dress with a tie detail on the shoulder was not modified. It’s straight off-the-rack. *shock*

Renee looked relaxed teaming her dress aviator sunglasses and nude heels.

Despite being romantically linked to Bradley Cooper, Renee arriving solo for the special screening of her movie in New York last night.

Wearing a figure-hugging off-the-shoulder Carolina Herrera dress with a jewel waistband, Renee looked every inch a Hollywood star on the red carpet.

I love the dark taupe colour of her dress paired with her nude heels from earlier in the day. For me she’s head-to-toe perfection.

“My One and Only” Friday, August 21.
