2014 Emmy Awards Menswear Red Carpet Roundup

2014 Emmy Awards Menswear Red Carpet Roundup

While the constellation of actresses on the scene at the 2014 Emmy Awards had all of us focused on the range of red-carpet gowns and glam, there was plenty more eye candy to be had with the men in the mix at the Nokia Theatre L.A. Live in Los Angeles, California on Monday night (August 25).

Matthew McConaughey: Not one to ever be a shrinking violet, the ‘True Detective’ actor and nominee suited up in a bold blue Dolce & Gabbana three-piece suit with contrasting black lapels, paired with Christian Louboutin ‘New Orleans’ flats, and a Bulgari watch and cufflinks. Was it my favourite look of his? Perhaps not. It even drew ‘A Night at the Roxbury’ comparisons among the Twitter-verse. But, with that handsome gaze, he can pull off anything.

Aaron Paul: The ‘Breaking Bad’ Emmy winner couldn’t have accepted his trophy in more classic fashion. He wore top-to-toe Prada in a black kid-mohair tuxedo, with a two-button notch-lapel design and velvet trim on the collar. A white smoking silk shirt, black bowtie and black spazzolato lace-up shoes, plus a Bulgari timepiece, completed the look.

Ty Burrell: Channeling his own blue mood, the ‘Modern Family’ Emmy winner wore a custom Todd Snyder tuxedo that was made especially for his big night. The Italian wool design was a collaborative effort between Ty, his stylist, Ilaria Urbinati, and the designer and boasts a unique shade of blue called ‘dusk,’ which nicely updates the tux from the more standard colourways of black and navy.

Here is a quick roundup of the guys who have taken to the red carpet this week.

Michael Fassbender: The actor joined Maggie Gyllenhaal on the red carpet on Monday (August 5) for the New York premiere of ‘Frank’. His casual look consisted of a navy Burberry Tailoring blazer, which smartened up his grey tee and jeans combo.

Will Arnett: So you didn’t like the white suit, but that didn’t deter Will from turning to Salvatore Ferragamo again for his red carpet look. He joined Megan Fox on the red carpet for the New York premiere of ‘Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles’ wearing a musk-green notch-lapel suit with a navy dress shirt. The loafer-style shoes work perfectly on this occasion, both in style and colour.

Kellan Lutz: There was yet more swoon upon seeing the actor in Marbella, Spain for ‘The Expendables 3′ premiere, where Kellan was decked out in a Ferragamo blueberry suit with pops of red via his houndstooth tie, pocket square and socks.

Here’s a quick look at the fellas taking to the red carpet last night.

Tinie Tempah: The rapper and FROW regular attended the PRISM x Disturbing London Collection launch in London yesterday evening. Looking as sharp as always, Tinie wore a Burberry Tailoring mauve blazer, white shirt and sleek maroon tie, keeping his trousers stylishly (in his eyes at the very least) short, as always. Black loafers and his BFC (British Fashion Council) pin rounded out his look. It may be a familiar format, but the colourways and fits do differ keeping this look fresh and interesting.

Robert Pattinson: The British actor made a guest appearance on ‘Late Night with Seth Meyers’. It appears that the male Dior ambassadors, aren’t held to the same expectations as the women, as Rob wore a Gucci burgundy notch lapel two button Signoria suit paired with an unbuttoned printed Louis Vuitton shirt for a more laid-back feel.

Stephen Moyer: While many guys are delighting with their colourful choices on the red carpet of late, the British actor stuck to black, selecting an Ermenegildo Zegna Couture two-button notched-lapel suit. A wise choice for the ‘True Blood’ premiere, which he attended with his wife Anna Paquin. He styled his look with a Jennifer Meyer earring and Christian Louboutin ‘Trepeter’ flats.

At the ‘Belle’ London premiere, Gugu Mbatha-Raw and Amma Asante were joined on the red carpet at BFI Southbank on Thursday (June 5) by a trio of handsome men, all dressed to the nines in Burberry Tailoring. In fact, the guys might have outshone the girls here.

Tom Felton: The British actor was dapper in a charcoal-gray three-piece windowpane suit, that was completed by the polish of a matching gray tie, white dress shirt and black loafers.

Sam Reid: Giving us a welcome punch of more vibrant colour, the actor suited up in bright navy, complementing his jacket and trousers with a baby-blue tie, printed pocket square and shiny black shoes.

James Norton: Also going for gray, James flashed a sultry stare in a warmer variation in his three-piece suit; the slight sheen of which was balanced by a dark patterned tie and matte black loafers.

With all the focus on the glitz of the gowns at the 67th annual Cannes Film Festival, it’s easy to overlook the handsome group of guys who are also making the rounds in Cannes and beyond. Here’s a highlight of some of their looks.

Channing Tatum: The actor-hunk joined the glamorous set at the Cannes Film Festival ‘Foxcatcher’ premiere on Monday (May 19). He was incredibly dapper in a Gucci black peak lapel, one-button Signoria tuxedo with a white evening shirt, black silk bowtie and black patent leather lace-up shoes.

John Legend: Accompanying Chrissy Teigen at the 2014 Billboard Music Awards on Sunday (May 18) in Las Vegas, Nevada, the singer also stood out in a Gucci Spring/Summer 2014 notch-lapel, two-button new palma jacket in a navy print, paired with a matching navy printed cotton shirt, dark Lanvin trousers, Jimmy Choo shoes and a Piaget watch.

Robert Pattinson: At the ‘Maps To The Stars’ Cannes Film Festival premiere on Monday (May 19), the actor again opted for black, donning a Dior Homme wool and silk satin two-button tuxedo, an oxford cotton shirt, a silk grosgrain tie, and black leather shoes. Despite the monochromatic statement, this polished look had me just as captivated as a colourful one would.
