Menswear Red Carpet Roundup

The men have been showcasing their style credentials as much as the ladies this week.

Khalid: Taking a casual preppy approach, the New Artist Billboard Award winner wore Fendi to the ceremony on Sunday (May 20). The burnt orange colour typically has an autumnal feel but it suits his colouring and is kept fresh with the white trainers and hoodie.

Donald Glover: Further demonstrating his mastery of vintage-inspired looks, he was outfitted in Bottega Veneta Spring 2018 with Christian Louboutin ‘Dandelion’ loafers for the ‘Solo: A Star Wars Story’ London photocall on Friday (May 18), joining Phoebe Waller-Bridge and Emilia Clarke. The shoes cleverly echo the warm tone in the top.

Darren Criss: The former ‘Glee’ actor was suited and booted in Dior Homme at the 2018 Billboard Music Awards on Sunday (May 20). The footwear adds some edge, but it’s all about the eye-popping effect of that blue collar.

Lily James In Burberry Tailoring – ‘Little Woods’ Tribeca Film Festival Premiere

Lily James was also at the Tribeca Film Festival over the weekend, attending the premiere of ‘Little Woods’ on Saturday (April 21) in New York City.

The borrowed-from-the-boys trend is nothing new, but I was absolutely entranced by how masterfully Lily wore this menswear-inspired Burberry Tailoring suit.

It was a study in sartorial sophistication.

Yet what truly made the classic ensemble so compelling—besides its impeccable fit—were her lush, fairytale waves topped with a headband along with her smoldering, nude makeup to introduce a balance of femininity to the look.

Repossi jewels completed her look.

Menswear Red Carpet Roundup

The guys have been out in force over the past few days. Here’s a look at what they were wearing.

Tye Sheridan: At the ‘Ready Player One’ European premiere in London on Monday (March 19), warmth was a key part of Tye’s Burberry Tailoring double-breasted suit and overcoat—as opposed to some of the ladies on the red carpet like Tallia Storm. The striped, collarless dress shirt underneath was an intriguing way to finish the dapper look.

Edgar Ramirez: With a retro-forward, brown suede Brunello Cucinelli Fall 2018 suit and colour-block sweater, Edgar fit in perfectly as he joined Judith Light at the For Your Consideration event for FX’s ‘The Assassination of Gianni Versace’ on Monday (March 19) in LA.

Matthew Rhys: At the season 6 premiere of ‘The Americans’ on Friday (March 16) in Washington, D.C., alongside Keri Russell, Matthew looked sharp in one of my favoured suit shades: aubergine. I do think this Rag & Bone ensemble would have been fine without the black tie and belt.

Matt Smith In Burberry Tailoring – ‘The Crown’ Season 2 London Premiere

Matt Smith joined co-stars Vanessa Kirby and Gillian Anderson on the red carpet for the season 2 world premiere of Netflix ‘The Crown’ at Odeon Leicester Square on Tuesday (November 21) in London.

The actor was looking rather dashing wearing a Burberry Tailoring pinstriped suit which demonstrates the brands time-honored, classic style, while exuding impeccable craftsmanship.

While some of you have been unimpressed with some of the gents lack of originality when it comes to red carpet dressing, Matt did make an effort with his styling which including a contrasting green tie accented with a silver pin, and a multi-coloured pocket square for a suave finish.

‘The Crown’ season 2 will premiere globally on Friday December 8, 2017.

Menswear Red Carpet Roundup

From Australia, New York and London, here is our final menswear roundup of the week.

Chris Hemsworth: After a packed red carpet for the LA premiere, Chris was flying solo for the ‘Thor: Ragnarok’ Gold Coast premiere in Australian earlier today. I never thought I could be swayed into liking a brown linen suit, but there’s an relaxed ease about the ensemble which feels like Chris put it together himself. We all know he’s not a huge fan of wearing ties, so I’m not surprised about the inclusion of a simple white tee. I much prefer this to his LA look.

Djimon Hounsou: The handsome actor joined Renee Zellweger for the ‘Same Kind Of Different As Me’ LA premiere last night. I love the tone of his cool-blue suit, I just wish he hadn’t made his timepiece the focus by bunching up his sleeves to ensure it showed.  It ruined the finesse of his suit for me.

Colin Farrell: The Irish actor’s Dior Homme all-of-the-time run continued last night as he joined Nicole Kidman and Emma Stone on the red carpet for the ‘ The Killing of A Sacred Deer’ London premiere. His charcoal grey wool classic peak lapel tuxedo was as sharp and as suave as you can get. Simple, classic and elegant.
