Paula Patton In Basil Soda – ‘2 Guns’ New York Premiere

Paula Patton In Basil Soda - '2 Guns' New York Premiere

Paula Patton took to the red carpet in dramatic fashion for the ‘2 Guns’ New York premiere held at SVA Theater in New York City yesterday evening.

The beautiful actress opted to wear a Basil Soda Fall 2012 black-and-white patterned gown with a plunging neckline and central slit.

Breaking the cardinal rule of red carpet dressing, the actress opted to showcase both legs and boobs, taking the elegance out of the look as it was presented on the model.

Factor in those heavy black-and-white pumps and we have another so-close-yet-so-far-from-being-perfect look.

A pop of colour via her yellow manicure, black-and-white patterened earrings and a slightly off-centre ponytail, which should’ve been an updo, provided the finishing touches.

Jiang Yiyan In Basil Soda – 3rd Beijing International Film Festival

Jiang Yiyan In Basil Soda – 3rd Beijing International Film Festival

Having looked breathtaking at the 2013 Hong Kong Film Awards, Jiang Yiyan was back on the red carpet on Tuesday evening for the 2013 Beijing International Film Festival closing ceremony.

Opting for yet another ball gown, the actress selected another Basil Soda gown, this time from the Lebanese designer’s Spring 2013 collection.

The white bustier gown features a light-pink overlay on the tulle skirt, which is decorated with pink floral appliqués.

Once again she opted for subtle jewels, with a dark-pink lip colour completing her princess look.

Is this look heavenly or too frou frou?

I have to say I prefer her previous look.

Jiang Yi Yan In Basil Soda Couture – 2013 Hong Kong Film Awards

The final look from the 2013 Hong Kong Awards, which took place on Saturday, comes courtesy of Jiang Yi Yan.

The actress opted for a statement-making Basil Soda Fall 2012 Couture gown.

We haven’t seen this designer in a while on the red carpet, so this makes for quite a dramatic comeback.

The moss-green gown with a stunning embellished bodice and chiffon skirt was thankfully not over-styled.

Jiang Yi Yan wisely opted out of wearing jewels, just adding a silver clutch and bold red lips to her look.

Archie Panjabi In Basil Soda – The Weinstein Company’s 2013 Golden Globe Awards After Party

Archie Panjabi In Basil Soda - Warner Bros And InStyle Golden Globe Awards After PartyArchie Panjabi picked The Weinstein Company’s 2013 Golden Globe Awards After Party, hosted at the Beverly Hilton in California on Sunday evening, to make her entrance.

‘The Good Wife’ star found inspiration from a few seasons ago in Lebanese designer Basil Soda’s Fall 2012 collection.

The strapless, structured bodice gave way to the soft glamour of a long mermaid silhouette and train, which actually may have been a bit cumbersome for any sort of party mixing and mingling.

Aside from its bridal white shade, the look stood out the most for its lack of any form of embellishment save for accessories in the form of a simple bracelet and silver box clutch.

Perhaps Archie could have used a sparkling necklace or the pop of a vibrant, pendant earring, especially since she wore her hair slicked back.

Marion Cotillard In Basil Soda – 2012 Trophée Chopard Party

Marion Cotillard attended the 2012 Trophée Chopard event during Cannes Film Festival yesterday evening.

After wearing two Dior dresses yesterday, she ended the night wearing a Basil Soda Fall 2012 dress.

Her black crepe dress with a fishnet and gold-lace panel was styled with gold metallic peep-toes and Chopard jewels.

After opting for a sleek hairstyle in Dior, she opted for a funky rockabilly hairstyle for this occasion.

It’s great to see more than one side to Marion’s style.

Who Wore Basil Soda Better? Lake Bell or Christina Milian

Lake Bell was the first to wear this strapless Basil Soda Spring 2011 dress to the ‘No Strings Attached’ LA premiere last year.

She teamed her form-fitting dress with nude Brian Atwood ‘Zenith’ pumps and kept her hair simple with natural waves.

Christina Milian wore the same dress to Roc Nation’s annual pre-Grammy brunch at Soho House in West Hollywood, California, last weekend – exactly 13 months later.

The dress has more va-va-voom on Christina, but I don’t like the length, or her shoe choice which disappears into the carpet.

Lake wins for me.

Who Wore Basil Soda Better? Shy’m or Michelle Rodriguez

French pop singer Shy’m attended the NRJ Awards in Cannes back in January, looking stunning in this black architectural Basil Soda gown.

She let the gown do most of the talking with the rest of the focus being on her towering hairdo.

Some bracelets or a cocktail ring would have been a welcome addition, but since she looks so glamorous I’m willing to let that part go.

Shy’m must know how amazing she looks since she is seriously working it on the red carpet. It’s hard to find fault with this.

Michelle Rodriguez surprised us all by stepping out in the same dress for her “Battle: Los Angeles” LA Premiere

Usually favouring a more casual look on the red carpet, this was a huge step up for the actress, but it certainly wasn’t perfect.

Her necklace is too fussy for a dress with an asymmetrical neckline. Even though her hair looks gorgeous, I would have loved to see it pulled back to really let her beauty (and the gown) shine.

Michelle gets points for stepping out of her comfort zone and trying something new but the details – including a basic black clutch – are just all wrong.

Shy’m on the other hand gets it right by directing most of the attention to the dress and her hair. She owns the look and knows it.

Shy’m wins for me.
