Red Carpet Fashion Awards

Kate Hudson In Balmain - 'Clear History' LA Premiere

Kate Hudson attended the premiere of HBO Films’ ‘Clear History’ held at ArcLight Cinemas Cinerama Dome in Hollywood, California, yesterday evening.

It was just yesterday I was commenting on Amanda Seyfried’s look saying that we don’t see many denim dresses on the red carpet, and here we have our second in a row.

Kate wore a Balmain Resort 2014 denim short-sleeve mini dress featuring a patchwork design, embroidered details, embellishments and extra crossover detail on the skirt – in short, there is a hell of a lot going on here.

I would never have picked this for Kate in a million years, but she surprises me by carrying this look off very well. The skirt could’ve given her a hip-widening effect, but being the red carpet pro that she is, she knows that crossing her legs will have a slimming effect on her hips.

The only thing that would’ve made this look better is possibly wearing her hair back, otherwise I feel very indifferent towards the look, neither really loving or hating it.

Dana Rebecca Designs jewels, a silver Jimmy Choo ‘Carmen’ clutch and Casadei nude suede pumps completed her look.

Amanda Seyfried In Balmain - Late Show With David Letterman

Amanda Seyfried’s second stop while promoting her latest movie ‘Lovelace’ was the Ed Sullivan Theatre in New York City for her guest appearance on the ‘Late Show With David Letterman’.

After opting for grey at the press conference, she lightened things up wearing a houndstooth-tweed pink-and-white Balmain Resort 2014 long-sleeve top and a flirty ballerina-esque tutu skirt which made her slender pins look even longer.

There was a danger of this look washing her out, but she countered that with a shimmering fuchsia-pink lip colour.

Not taking the lookbook styling into consideration, she styled her look with Rupert Sanderson ‘Elba’ light pink pumps and subtle gold jewelry.

What I like about this look most is the skirt. The top with its padded shoulders looks a bit heavy, but doesn’t put me off liking the look.

The one thing I would change about this look is the hair. While it’s refreshing that she opted for another style, it feels a bit mumsy.

Zoe Saldana In Balmain - 'Guardians of the Galaxy' Press Line Comic Con 2013

Zoe Saldana also stepped out for Comic-Con 2013, attending the ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ press line on Saturday in San Diego, California.

Our fashion-girl turned again to Balmain for her on-trend appearance, this time strutting out an overalls-inspired, denim-look jumpsuit from the Resort 2014 collection.

The ruched sweetheart neckline of the zipper-back bodice and gold chain-link straps staked a glam claim against the relaxed, boyish slouch of the pleated, cuff trousers.

Whilst Zoe did justice to designer Olivier Rousteing’s dynamic dungarees and helped to restore my faith in the jumpsuit, I was left with the impression that something might be missing.

She could have handled the lookbook’s bling-y, super-embellishment, but she pared back the styling for Comic-Con’s casual M.O. Still, I was craving some added flash and, if anything, I would have just added a waist-cinching belt.

Christian Louboutin ‘Vaquettababa’ peep-toe pumps (first seen on Amy Adams), minimalistic EF Collection jewels and a sleekly coiffed high ponytail completed the look.

Ciara In Balmain - 'Watch What Happens Live'

Ciara made a guest appearance on ‘Watch What Happens Live’, which was aired on Bravo last week.

The singer usually has great style, but she has been well below par since this comeback.

While she attempted to channel her inner rock chick, I think this Balmain leather bustier dress with a flounced skirt does nothing for her.

The worst offenders are those Christian Louboutin ‘Daf’ camo ponyskin booties, along with that aging hairstyle, which I haven’t been able to get behind since it made its debut at the 2013 BET Awards.

Nicole Richie In Balmain - Extra

Nicole Richie made a guest appearance on Extra with Mario Lopez at the Grove in California yesterday afternoon to promote her web series ‘#CandidlyNicole’.

The Fashion Star judge is one of my favourite fashion gals, but I just can’t get on board with this look.

She wore a Balmain ensemble which consisted of a maroon-and-black dual-printed top with black-and-white vertical-striped wide-legged pants.

The top and the pants don’t work well for me: the pants are too long and the shoes uninspiring.

Is this rare misstep week? First Diane Kruger, now Nicole.

Is there anything you like about this look?
