Red Carpet Fashion Awards

Following the successful launch of Balmain’s twitter and facebook accounts earlier this week, Olivier Rousteing, the designer of the brand, hosted a party at the newly opened La Piscine restaurant at Hotel Americano in New York City last night.

He invited his favourite girls Arizona Muse, Anya Ziourova, Kasia Struss, Karlie Kloss and Constance Jablonski, who were all decked out in Balmain, to join the celebrations.

I was going to blow off going to the gym this weekend, but this picture has put me back on track. What a bunch of gorgeous, well chiselled people.

If you have been following Balmain’s tweets, you will know that Olivier is in also in town for fittings ahead of Monday’s Met Gala.

Fingers crossed that Zoe Saldana is his plus one.

For the first time today Balmain launched their official Facebook and Twitter accounts.

Once you ‘Like’ Balmain’s Facebook you will be given access to exclusive backstage and beauty images, ad campaigns, lookbook images, celebrities in Balmain (dominated by house favourite Zoe Saldana of course), editorials from magazines around the world and runway images including those all-important close up details.

The Twitter account will deliver day-to-day news and editorials plus images which inspire Balmain’s designer Olivier Rousteing.

Blanca Suarez hit the red carpet at the Cervantes Theatre for the 15th Malaga Film Festival in Malaga, Spain, on Friday.

The beautiful actress selected a Balmain Resort 2012 dress.

Her colourful printed long-sleeve dress showed off her gorgeous figure and enviable legs.

Black strappy sandals and a blue box clutch accessorized her look, whilst her luscious ombre wavy locks and wing-tipped eyeliner provided the finishing touches.

I’m glad Blanca didn’t opt for the belt.

Elizabeth Olsen was in New York City last night to promote her latest movie, ‘Silent House’ at AMC Loews Lincoln Square.

The young actress wore a simple long sleeve black dress which she paired with a Balmain Spring 2012 jacket.

Her ivory jacket with gold embroidered details is the perfect example of making a look work for your style.

She didn’t try to give us Kate Moss just because she was wearing Balmain. She nonchalantly added the piece to her look along with a blue The Row clutch and black pumps with gold micro studs.

Flawless makeup made her baby blue eyes pop and she added a nude glossy lip colour to her look.

The thing about Zoe Saldana is she makes Balmain look so easy to wear.

Just last weekend she donned a sexy frock from the Spring 2012 collection, and despite the overtly sexy nature of the dress, she still looked classy.

Can the same be said for Katy Perry?

She wore a gold-beaded plunging Balmain Spring 2012 dress to the Maison Du Caviar party in Paris yesterday evening.

I have two problems with this look: the hair and the boobage.

The hair is an ongoing issue as it doesn’t work with everything…case-in-point.

The boobage is too much for this sexy dress. The pin which has shortened the plunge looks like it is about to give way at any moment.

It’s a no from me.

Olivier Rousteing’s second season as creative director of Balmain proved to be more spectacular than the first.

With the French designer taking inspiration from the Fabergé eggs Richard Burton gave to Elizabeth Taylor, cue quilted signature military-inspired jackets, and skin-tight dresses adorned with pearls, crystals and beads.

I loved the rich baroque prints with leather lacing and pearl embellishments.

Pearls were everywhere, expect for the rich velvet pants, dresses and skirts, which were Balmainified with chunky belts with gold hardware.

We also saw leather jackets, tuxedo jackets with satin lapels and pyjama-style pieces covered with pearl embroidery. These were my favourite pieces within the collection.

The collection was part androgynous, part ultra-sexy with sleek silhouettes on a colour palette of rich forest green, nude and black.

I wouldn’t be surprised if Zoe Saldana has already placed her order for several pieces from this collection.

Front Row: Anna Wintour and Anna Dello Russo

Who I See Wearing This Collection: Tilda Swinton, Celine Dion, Noomi Rapace, Zoe Saldana, Ciara, Rihanna, Kristen Stewart, Halle Berry, Emmanuelle Alt and Zoe Kravitz
