Rihanna for Balmain

Balmain unveiled the first pictures of Rihanna as the face of the French label’s Spring 2014 ad campaign this morning.

As someone who always gets first dibs on the collection, this should come as no surprise.

The Bajan singer was shot by Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin for the campaign, posing seductively in a denim chain-accented piece and a pink houndstooth look with similar chain accents, both styled by her personal stylist Mel Ottenberg.

Balmain’s creative director Olivier Rousteing was positively gushing about casting Rihanna for this campaign, telling WWD “In front of the camera, she makes you feel like she is the only girl in the world. When the woman that inspires you wears your creations, your vision feels complete.”

tumblr_mxtgjr0yts1rqgjz2o1_1280Beyonce Knowles continued her string of performances, as part of her Mrs Carter Show World Tour, on Saturday (December 14) at the United Center in Chicago, Illinois.

Having previously shown us glitzy garb from the likes of Pucci, David Koma and Dsquared², the songstress showed off a slightly sportier style in a custom Balmain number, which she wore whilst performing her new track, ‘XO.’

That said, the glamazon theme was still alive and well. The black-and-white romper was inspired by Balmain’s Spring 2013 collection, where graphic harlequin checks and ’90s-inspired power silhouettes permeated the runway.

She embellished the ensemble with an AllSaints ‘Valtari’ statement necklace, nude fishnets and black thigh-high boots, with long, wavy locks topping off this moment of her superstar stage time.

Rihanna In Balmain - Nobu

Rihanna was spotted leaving the Gansevoort hotel in New York City to dine out at Nobu on Friday evening.

Surprisingly camera shy, the singer donned a Balmain Spring 2014 black long-sleeve leather jumpsuit which incorporates a white top as well as quilted shoulders and gold medallion buttons.

Her urban street-style look was accessorized with the same black leather Balmain boots with a gold toe-cap and the chunky gold jewelry we saw on the runway.

Barely-there makeup and a simple ponytail completed her look.

Does this look rev up her street style, or did she get lost on her way to a Harley-Davidson convention?

Jennifer Hudson In Balmain - 2013 Soul Train Awards

Jennifer Hudson attended the Soul Train Awards at the Orleans Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada yesterday evening.

In the first of two looks, she wore an Art Deco-patterned Balmain Spring 2012 dress, which generously showcased her legs and décolletage via a thigh-skimming hemline and low-cut front. Just like the Balmain dress she wore a few weeks ago, this dress also came complete with long sleeves, padded shoulders, and a form-fitted outline.

She rocked her mini with a shiny black belt nipped at the waist, black studded lace-up Saint Laurent booties, and dramatic cat-eye makeup.

Do you think Jennifer nailed the sexy rocker vibe here, or is there a little too much going on in one look?

Blake Lively In Balmain - Announcement Of The New Face Of L'Oreal Paris

Already the spokesperson for Gucci’s Première fragrance, Blake Lively was announced as the newest face of L’Oréal Paris via the brand Instagram yesterday morning.

The actress was clearly overjoyed about the partnership, saying, “I’m thrilled and honoured to join the incredible women who represent L’Oréal Paris. I grew up with the inspiration of their message, ‘We’re worth it’; what an important value to instil in women.”

Blake is in good company joining the L’Oréal Paris Dream Team, which includes Lara Stone (their newest ambassador), Gwen Stefani, Cheryl Cole, Freida Pinto, Julianne Moore, Jane Fonda, Fan Bingbing, Eva Longoria, Liya Kebede, Inès de La Fressange, Sonam Kapoor, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Doutzen Kroes.

Bring on Cannes 2014.

For the official announcement held at the Shangri-La Hotel Paris, France yesterday evening, the actress turned to another French brand, Balmain.

She donned a blue-and-white off-the-shoulder, long-sleeve Spring 2014 bouclé houndstooth dress with a pleated flounced skirt accented with a shimmering silver belt with a gold link-chain trim.
I love the dress. It’s so clean and fresh and therefore appropriate for a beauty launch.

The nude Christian Louboutin ‘Filter’ pumps with a shot of glamorous sparkle via her crystal-dipped heels wouldn’t have been my first choice, but they do an amazing job of elongating her slender legs.

I would’ve also preferred her hair up, but beauty does encompass hair, so glossy, flowing tresses were of course required here.

Jennifer Hudson In Balmain - Black Girls Rock! 2013

Jennifer Hudson debuted a new ‘do on the red carpet for the Black Girls Rock! 2013 event which took place at New Jersey Performing Arts on Saturday in Newark, New Jersey.

In the first of three looks, the singer showcased her pixie cut wearing a Balmain black glitter jacquard v-neck long-sleeve dress featuring padded shoulders.

She rocked her hot look with Christian Louboutin ‘Mado’ lace-up over-the-knee boots, sheer tights, a statement ring and a punchy pink lip colour.

You may remember that Rihanna was the first to rock this Balmain mini to the VMAs after-party, ironically with the same haircut.
