Marion Cotillard in Balmain – Trophée Chopard

Marion Cotillard in Balmain - Trophée Chopard

Marion Cotillard attended the Trophée Chopard festivities, hosted during the 68th annual Cannes Film Festival on Friday (May 15) in Cannes, France.

Putting a vivacious twist into her look, the French actress flashed back to the spirit of the ’70s in a Balmain Fall 2015 dress featuring a molded orange and magenta bodice and black plissé skirt.

Reflecting the gold plate of the belt with her accessories, she completed the look by wearing a metallic clutch and bold Chopard earrings.

All things considered, I liked seeing this mod, playful side of Marion, even if the look was quite literal in its retro mood.

Maybelline New York’s 100 Year Anniversary

Maybelline New York's 100 Year Anniversary

Maybelline New York celebrated its 100th anniversary on Thursday (May 14) at the IAC Building in New York City.

Gigi Hadid: The model is having quite a moment in culture right now and seems to be poised to be the next big thing in the modeling world. As such, she chose a very sophisticated look with this striped Balmain skirt and long coat combo. By belting the coat and eliminating the bright belt seen on the runway, Gigi looks the very essence of ‘major model’–very few other people could pull off cinching that much fabric at the waist and still looking chic and svelte. A high-drama cat eye and sleek updo were perfectly paired.

Jourdan Dunn: Opting for a more summery, carefree approach to fashion, Jourdan’s white cut-out Self-Portrait dress is fun and perky, and does a masterful job of showing us all exactly why Jourdan has the job she does (That gorgeous skin! Those legs!). I love that she went monochrome with the white pumps, and her barely there makeup and wavy bob are delightful.

Abbey Lee In Balmain – ‘Mad Max: Fury Road’ LA Premiere

Abbey Lee In Balmain - 'Mad Max Fury Road' LA Premiere

Abbey Lee made a return to the red carpet for the premiere of ‘Mad Max: Fury Road’ at TCL Chinese Theatre on Thursday (May 7) in Hollywood, California.

Working a 70s vibe, the model wore a Balmain Pre-Fall 2015 red and black striped jumpsuit.

Considering her model credentials one would expect this to be an easy sell for Abbey Lee, but the looks falls flat for me. Perhaps I’m put off by the nose ring and the heavy footwear.

The other issue is that Jane Fonda owned this look when she wore the green and black version to the Grammy Awards earlier this year.

2015 Met Gala Menswear Roundup

Met Men Matt

With the tidal wave of gowns and tonnes of sparkling embellishment at the ‘China: Through the Looking Glass’ 2015 Met Gala, hosted at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City on Monday (May 4), the guys’ looks were a handsome, albeit less extravagant, accessory to the girls. Rather than attempting to accomplish the Chinese theme, some of the men reverted to safer, traditional tux territory while others bravely went in the direction of the East.

Robert Pattinson: This is the Robert Pattinson I like to see—polished and handsome without losing his edgy, bad-boy charm. His elegant Dior Homme three-piece tuxedo was one of my favourite men’s looks of the night.

James Marsden: The actor infused another layer into his Ermenegildo Zegna ensemble, elevating the look with a cream jacket paired with a white tuxedo shirt and black trousers.

Matt Bomer: Showing off the power of the classics, he was dapper in a dark Giorgio Armani suit and bow tie popped with the hint of colour in his pocket square.

Blake Lively In Antonio Berardi, Jenny Packham, Lindsey Thornburg, Valentino & Balmain – ‘The Age of Adaline’ New York Promo Tour Day 2

Blake Lively In Antonio Berardi, Jenny Packham, Lindsey Thornburg, Valentino & Balmain - 'The Age of Adaline' New York Promo Tour Day 2

Blake Lively was still promoting her new movie, ‘The Age of Adaline’ on Wednesday (April 22) with four more looks.

Look 1: Opting for Antonio Berardi again, the mix print one-shoulder sheath from the Fall 2015 collection, styled with Malone Souliers tri-colour pumps, piqued my interest, but the embellished Jenny Packham Fall 2013 coat doesn’t quite work for me. Sans coat this was one of her best of the week.

Look 2: Blake made a guest appearance on ABC’s ‘The Chew’. I simply adore this look. Not too fond of the fall-like hues she’s been championing this promo tour, this sweet and feminine Lindsey Thornburg floral summer-in-a-dress frock, styled with baby-blue pumps, is perfect from head to toe.

Look 3: For the Apple Store Soho Presents Tribeca Film Festival: ‘The Age Of Adaline’ Q & A event, Blake wore a Valentino patchwork Fall 2015 coat and dress. I would only save the shoes from this look. There is too much going on for my liking here, plus I really love Blake in bright, summery colours, like the Roksanda look from the day before. I have Dolly Parton’s ‘Coat of Many Colours’ playing on a loop in my head after seeing this look.

Look 4: Making a guest appearance on ‘The Late Show with Seth Meyers’, Blake wore her second Balmain Fall 2015 look in so many days. I love the sparkling fringe skirt, but wish she’d made this look her own and broken up the runway look. The top feels so pedestrian for the disco-style skirt.
