Katie Aselton In Zara & Balenciaga - 'Drinking Buddies' Premiere

Temperatures may be dipping but the crop top trend shows no signs of slowing down, as proved by Katie Aselton on the red carpet at ArcLight Cinemas in Hollywood, California for the ‘Drinking Buddies’ screening yesterday evening.

The actress wore a black v-neck crop top from Zara, which I have been cruising for a while now, with a high-waisted black Balenciaga midi skirt, black pumps and a mixture of black, gold and silver accessories including Alexander Wang pumps, a TopShop black studded clutch and a Melinda Maria cuff.

A seamless mix of high and low pieces wouldn’t you agree?

Katie nailed the crop top trend as the key is always to have the belly button covered – the trend isn’t about exposing the whole stomach, just flashing a bit of skin on your toned midriff.

What I particularly love about Katie’s look is the sporty feel the crop top gives to her look.

InStyle Summer Soiree

There were many more lovely ladies who attended the InStyle Summer Soiree held at the Mondrian Los Angeles in West Hollywood, California yesterday evening.

Darby Stanchfield: The ‘Scandal’ actress instantly caught my eye, not only because of the striking contrast between her gorgeous flame-red beehive and electric-blue drop-waist Paper London dress, but mostly because of her pronounced eyebrows, which gave the look a futuristic vibe, further punctuated by her sculptural Kzeniya clutch and Emporio Armani silver pumps.

Ashley Tisdale: Although this sleeveless Clover Canyon ‘Orchid Trip’ neoprene dress is very much expected from Ashley, I love the soft pastel pieces styled with the look. The black clutch is very much the odd man out here.

Analeigh Tipton: The actress was one of many who also opted for neutral tones, wearing a chic tunic top and matching trousers by Ermanno Scervino accented with a black waistband. Opting not to go with black accessories, she wore white Casadei sandals and carried a gold Stark clutch, with Dannijo earrings completing the look.

BDOTW 29 July

There were a lot of great contenders this week for Best Dressed; however, two stood head and shoulders above the rest: Cate Blanchett in Balenciaga.Edition and Armie Hammer in Gucci.

Cate won us over with her breathtaking feminine dress with a structural cape which took it into another dimension.

Armie has been wowing us throughout his promo tour for ‘The Lone Ranger’. Just when I thought he couldn’t top his Tom Ford suit from a few weeks ago, he does just that by donning a bright red Gucci suit with an unexpected brown tie.

Jordana Brewster In Balenciaga - TNT's 25th Anniversary Party

Jordana Brewster was the picture of summer, as she joined her ‘Dallas’ TV show co-stars, including Patrick Duffy, at TNT’s 25th Anniversary Party, hosted yesterday at The Beverly Hilton Hotel in California.

The uber-bronzed actress was effortlessly chic in a powder-blue Balenciaga mini-sheath dress, grounded by barely-there, black ankle-strap Saint Laurent ‘Jane’ sandals.

With only a Lauren Merkin ‘Lucca’ black, oval-shaped minaudière and a few, well-placed cocktail rings serving as accessories, the fresh colour of the V-neck frock stayed front and centre.

Dark, middle-parted waves and a coral-red lippie added a dose of drama, without a hint of try-hard, to this simple statement.

Cate Blanchett In Balenciaga Edition - 'Blue Jasmine' New York Premiere

Following her guest appearance on Letterman earlier in the evening, Cate Blanchett stunned again while attending the New York premiere of Woody Allen’s ‘Blue Jasmine’ held at the Museum of Modern Art, which, frankly, is where her stunning dress belongs.

She wore a Balenciaga.Edition ensemble consisting of a blush-pink gazar cape and an embroidered dress with floral appliqués.

The pictures of Cate without the cape are beautiful, but the cape leaves me breathless, taking this look into fashion-forward – and, in this case, regal – territory.

Nude Balenciaga pumps and Van Cleef + Arples jewels accessorized her look, with a sophisticated updo and rosy cheeks providing the finishing touches.

I don’t think I need to ask if you think this is BDOTW worthy. Do I?

Best Dressed Of The Week - Miranda Kerr In Wes Gordon, Ruth Wilson In Balenciaga

Even with so many red carpet options this week, Miranda Kerr’s airport-chic Wes Gordon frock was your favourite this week. My pick was the sharp, sleek Balenciaga look presented to us by Ruth Wilson at the eleventh hour on Friday evening.

Best Dressed Of The Week - Zachery Levi in Reiss & Armie Hammer In Ermenegildo Zegna

Zachery Levi in Reiss has always been a winning combination, and you thought so too on this occasion.

I had more trouble selecting this week with so many great choices. In the end I had to go with Armie Hammer in Ermenegildo Zegna for the interesting mix-and-match element, not only colour-wise but also print-wise as the look featured chequers and stripes – not an easy combo to pull off.
