Red Carpet Fashion Awards

Amanda Seyfried was the first to arrive on the red carpet this evening in London’s Leicester Square for the world premiere of ‘Les Miserables’.

We all know that Amanda isn’t afraid to take risks on the red carpet, but even I was shocked by her choice on this occasion.

She donned a futuristic-flamenco Balenciaga Spring 2013 look.

Her sexy black-and-white ensemble, featuring a peplum bustier top and ruffled skirt with asymmetrical lines, was styled with some uninspiring black pumps and sultry side-swept curls.

While I like this look on Amanda, I prefer it on the runway, from the length of the skirt to its positioning.

For the Mnet Asian Music Awards on Friday, Hong Kong model/actress Angelababy stepped out in one of recently departed Balenciaga designer Nicolas Ghesquière’s sculpted looks for spring.

The futuristic-flamenco skirt and bell-sleeved crop top were a bold pick for the performer, who would’ve done right by Ghesquière’s rigorous design by sticking to the austere styling presented on the runway.

While Angelababy’s gold heels and tribal Pamela Love turquoise bib necklace made for creative additions, the latter’s Pamela Love cuff counterpart took geometry a shape too far.

Further damage was done by incongruous drop earrings, another superfluous bracelet, and pageant queen two-tone locks.

I’d be eager to see a do-over of the avant ensemble on a Balenciaga devotee such as Jennifer Connelly or Charlotte Gainsbourg.

Which actress do you picture trying this on for size?

Miranda Kerr and her cute son were spotted leaving their apartment in Chelsea, New York yesterday morning.

The model, who can do uptown and downtown street style with equal aplomb, looked as gorgeous as ever wearing a mix of brands.

She donned a black leather Balenciaga jacket with quilted sleeves, which is a favourite of Kristen Stewart, plus a green Acne ‘Ruth’ sweater and a black skirt.

I love her accessories, which included black Tabitha Simmons ‘Sally’ boots and a Christian Louboutin ‘Farida’ bag in forest green, which January Jones can’t leave home without.

Superstar shades and that gorgeous smile completed her look.

Miranda Kerr was showing off her street-style once again in Manhattan yesterday, which was a much needed tonic to cleanse away the image of her last red carpet appearance.

The Victoria’s Secret model looked divine, wearing a sheer 3.1 Phillip Lim black blouse with a Balenciaga jacquard snake-skin pencil skirt.

Her accessories play a vital role in perfecting this look; she wore Lanvin leather and satin black-and-gold pumps with cut out details and gold straps, a luxe pair of Linda Farrow sunglasses with a python trim and her can’t-leave-home-without Givenchy ‘Antigona’ tote.

Head-to-toe perfection, but what’s new when it comes to our street-style queen?

Bella Heathcote attended the 2012 AFI Fest premiere for ‘Life Of Pi’ held at the Grauman’s Chinese Theatre on Friday evening in Hollywood, California.

The Australian actress who has been wearing a lot of pretty frocks since becoming a red carpet favourite, opted for something different from the Balenciaga Fall 2012 collection.

Her black, white and grey pixelated snake-print dress has a futuristic feel which oozes effortless femininity.

Opting to wear her hair up again on this occasion, Bella added a black cuff, bi-coloured taupe-and-black chain accented sandals and a black patent clutch to her look.

I would’ve never figured Bella in a Balenciaga dress, immediately writing the brand off as too edgy for her delicate tastes, but she totally pulled off this look with ease.

Kristen Stewart joined Amy Adams on the red carpet on Saturday evening for the 2012 AFI Fest premiere of ‘On The Road’, held at the Grauman’s Chinese Theatre in Hollywood, California.

A few years back some angry Twihards attacked me for suggesting that Kristen should wear more menswear inspired looks or looks with an edge.

I’m glad this Balenciaga Spring 2013 jumpsuit proves my point.

The actress looks much better, relaxed and comfortable wearing these types of looks than she does wearing those dresses her stylists loves to shorten.

The look is simple enough; a white criss-cross midriff baring bustier top with simple black high-waist pants paired with Christian Louboutin ‘Décolleté’ pumps.

Wearing a deep red lip colour and kohl-rimmed eyes, Kristen opted for a twisted ponytail swept to one side.

Mimicking the runway, Kristen wore a gold necklace and a selection of rings on each finger, plus she wore her favourite Cartier ‘Juste Un Clou’ bracelet.

Do you love this look, or do you prefer her predictable mini dresses?
