Kate Bosworth In Balmain - 2013 Met Gala

Kate Bosworth dared to bare her legs on the red carpet of the Met Gala.

The actress wore a long-sleeved embellished Balmain top, styled as a dress.

While most of the time wearing a top as a dress is a total fashion ‘don’t', Kate looks stunning. By adding a gold belt and a simple black Ferragamo pumps, she lets this gorgeous pink number really shine.

The star doesn’t often play up her eyes, and her bold cat eye is a nice touch with this opulent, sexy look.

This is one of my favorite looks from Kate in a while! Do you agree?

After last year’s show-stopping Givenchy confection, Beyonce just had to bring another knockout to the 2013 Met Gala red carpet, especially since she is the honorary chair.

And that she did, wearing Givenchy for the second time around in designer and gala co-chair Riccardo Tisci’s stunner.

The strapless black gown was built on a black croc-paneled corset bodice which gave way to a cascading, slit-to-there black skirt that was rimmed in digitally printed gold and bronze damask.

The long, sweeping train that trailed behind the songstress was the most eye-catching; it nearly appeared as if she was emerging from an engulfment of fashionable flames.

Of course, the long gloves and the knee-high boots, which were matched to the brilliant, fiery print of the gown, commanded plenty of attention, too.

Every time I looked at this ensemble, I noticed another detail not seen before—like the ever-so-punk-like grommet belt.

But, despite the boldness and the brashness, Beyonce looked utterly beautiful with her flowing, wavy locks and effortless makeup. No need to overdo things—she knows when enough is enough.

Gorgeous or garish?

Zhang Ziyi In Jason Wu - 2013 Met Gala

Zhang Ziyi looked flawless in Jason Wu at the Met Gala.

The ‘Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon’ actress wore a strapless red-lace, trumpet skirt gown from Jason Wu, and she absolutely radiated as she made her way down the red carpet. She accented the gown with Christian Louboutin jewels, shoes and clutch.

Of course there’s nothing punk here, unless you count her black manicure, but I still love the look.

Her simple cat eye, peachy cheeks and semi-matte nude lips are spot-on, and the gorgeous star is impeccable from top to bottom.

‘PUNK: Chaos to Couture,’ the theme to Monday’s Met Gala at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York is all about paying homage to a time when people went against the establishment.

Sofia Coppola did just that when she graced the red carpet in a pajama-inspired design from Marc Jacobs Fall 2013. A decidedly non-punk look, Sofia took the anti-establishment theme to heart by opting out of the theme completely.

I do love Sofia’s look–the cut is simple, the style is flattering, and the silvery-grey colour is beautiful–but I wish she had gone just a little bit punk.

Sofia rounded out her laid back look with delicate heels, a black clutch, and barely there makeup.

I personally would have paired this red carpet look with a very dark berry lip colour for a flash of punky glamour. Do you agree?

Lily Collins In Moschino - 2013 Met Gala

Lily Collins made quite a statement in her Moschino look at the Met Gala.

I can only say, be careful what you wish for! Here everyone has been complaining about such a total lack of punk styling by many of the Met Gala’s guests, and here you have someone really going for it. I think.

Part of me thinks that Lily’s look is much more witchy than punk, but she’s definitely committed to her look.

While I can’t see the entire gown, I’m thinking maybe she should have work it alone, rather than pairing it with this outrageous sequin and flying-heart adorned jacket, because the two together is what we call ‘a lot of look’.

Then, when you add the blue streaked hair and the extreme eye makeup, it really is a lot to try to take in. But, if you really just focus on the young star’s face, she looks beautiful. I’m thinking the hair and makeup are keepers and should have been paired with a less heavy dress.

Am I being too harsh on someone finally going for the punk theme, or do you agree that this is just too much all together?

Stacy Keibler In Rachel Roy - 2013 Met Gala

Stacy Keibler looked edgy in Rachel Roy on the Met Gala red carpet.

The actress one of the few guests who went for a short look tonight, and the studded, sheer-sleeved custom dress was perfect for the occasion–plus it shows off her most famous asset–those legs.

Stacy usually wears her hair up on the red carpet, and if it is down, it’s polished and smooth, so her textured waves is a major departure, and I like it. It’s definitely edgier than her normal style, and perfect for the night’s theme.

Do you like Stacy’s short cocktail dress, or do you think a long gown would have been more appropriate?

FYI. She wore Jacob & Co jewels.

Like several other stars, Jessica Biel stuck to black for the 2013 Met Gala in New York City.

But, far from basic black was her strapless Giambattista Valli Spring 2013 Couture ensemble, worn with a wrist clutch and black slingback shoes from the design house.

The cinched-in, strapless bodice showed off Jessica’s small waist and stunning shoulders.

Then, came the drama with the mullet silhouette, which was shrouded in a flurry of tulle and a long train. Spiderweb-like leggings, as seen on the runway, increased the grunge-gorgeous meter here.

Maybe not wanting to competing with her couture gown, Jessica went for minimal, nude makeup and a sleek ponytail. No earrings and no necklace were part of this look, but a Fred Leighton cuff did make the cut.

Did you like Jessica’s plain and simple version of punk?
