Final Sweep Of The 2015 Met Gala Red Carpet

met gala 2015

As you know when it comes to the Met Gala, I always – as impossible as the task is – try to feature everyone, so here is the final sweep from Monday’s (May 4) event.

As this is very last post, leave your top 10 in the comments.

Livia Firth: Ladies and gentlemen, this is how you pay homage to the Chinese theme. Livia’s Antonio Berardi for the Green Carpet Challenge gown was elegant, refined, and so refreshing on a night were the self-promotion and not living up to the dress code ruled. Easily one of the best on the night, and her arm-candy (husband Colin Firth) scrubbed up nicely to.

Carina Lau: Sadly, the Asian actress got a bum deal from the pictures agencies who only added them to their sites the day after the event (no doubt not recognising who these beauties were, and what joy they were bringing to this lacklustre table). Continuing her love affair with all things Schiaparelli Haute Couture, Carina wore a black and white look marrying both Chinese intricacies with modernity and less face it – plenty of fierceness. I can also picture this on Dita von Teese.

Blake Lively In Antonio Berardi, Jenny Packham, Lindsey Thornburg, Valentino & Balmain – ‘The Age of Adaline’ New York Promo Tour Day 2

Blake Lively In Antonio Berardi, Jenny Packham, Lindsey Thornburg, Valentino & Balmain - 'The Age of Adaline' New York Promo Tour Day 2

Blake Lively was still promoting her new movie, ‘The Age of Adaline’ on Wednesday (April 22) with four more looks.

Look 1: Opting for Antonio Berardi again, the mix print one-shoulder sheath from the Fall 2015 collection, styled with Malone Souliers tri-colour pumps, piqued my interest, but the embellished Jenny Packham Fall 2013 coat doesn’t quite work for me. Sans coat this was one of her best of the week.

Look 2: Blake made a guest appearance on ABC’s ‘The Chew’. I simply adore this look. Not too fond of the fall-like hues she’s been championing this promo tour, this sweet and feminine Lindsey Thornburg floral summer-in-a-dress frock, styled with baby-blue pumps, is perfect from head to toe.

Look 3: For the Apple Store Soho Presents Tribeca Film Festival: ‘The Age Of Adaline’ Q & A event, Blake wore a Valentino patchwork Fall 2015 coat and dress. I would only save the shoes from this look. There is too much going on for my liking here, plus I really love Blake in bright, summery colours, like the Roksanda look from the day before. I have Dolly Parton’s ‘Coat of Many Colours’ playing on a loop in my head after seeing this look.

Look 4: Making a guest appearance on ‘The Late Show with Seth Meyers’, Blake wore her second Balmain Fall 2015 look in so many days. I love the sparkling fringe skirt, but wish she’d made this look her own and broken up the runway look. The top feels so pedestrian for the disco-style skirt.

Blake Lively In Kristinit, Sam and Lavi, John Galliano, Cushine et Ochs, Zuhair Murad & Antonio Berardi – ‘The Age of Adaline’ New York Promo Tour

Blake Lively 1

Following her three looks on ‘Good Morning America’, Blake Lively continued to promote her new movie, ‘The Age of Adaline’, wearing six more looks – yep, that’s nine in one day.

‘Live With Kelly & Michael’ Arrival: En route to the studio, the actress was captured wearing a vibrant hot pink and black striped Kristinit dress amping up the pattern play with a pair of Alexa Wagner ‘Ellen’ laceup sandals. This look would rank as my second least favourite of the day. The shoes are complicating the look and I’m not really a fan of how the dress drapes on her.

‘Live With Kelly & Michael’: While Blake’s attempts to capture the movie’s 40s era didn’t quite work on her arrival to the GMA studios, she totally nailed the vibe with her Sam and Lavi leaf print strapless jumpsuit and victory roll hairstyle. The look was styled Lorraine Schwartz jewels and  Charlotte Olympia red sandals.

Michelle Monaghan In Antonio Berardi – ‘W Stories’ Event

Michelle Monaghan In Antonio Berardi - 'W Stories' Event

Michelle Monaghan joined Kiernan Shipka at the ‘W Stories’ event, presented by Leon Max and hosted by Stefano Tonchi, Leon Max, and Amber Valletta on Friday (April 17) in Los Angeles, California.

The actress wore an Antonio Berardi Pre-Fall 2015 look that quirkily merged houndstooth and Prince of Wales checks to create a layered effect and the illusion that the dress was instead a top and skirt.

The masculine nature of the patterns was easily balanced by the figure-hugging tailoring of the design.

The red pumps add a fiery little punch, but I’m not completely sold on the overall styling and the combination of the shoes and handbag.

Fan Bingbing In Emmanuel Ungaro & Antonio Berardi – ‘Ever Since We Love’ Press Conference

Fan Bingbing In Emmanuel Ungaro & Antonio Berardi - 'Ever Since We Love' Press Conferences

Fan Bingbing and Han Geng have been promoting their latest project, ‘Ever Since We Love’ this week.

Shanghai Press Conference: On Monday (April 13) they attended a press conference at Millennium Hotel, with me liking Bingbing’s latest look from the ankles up. You will remember that we first saw this flame red Emmanuel Ungaro Spring 2015 gown worn by Jena Malone. She had the good sense not to style the look with ridiculous footwear.

Chengdu Press Conference: The next day, the actress went for a more directional look, wearing an Antonio Berardi Spring 2015 metallic floral brocade outfit. The boxy top and tulip shaped skirt are considerably out of her comfort-zone, but I like how Bingbing is lately making an effort to switch things up. I wish there was a much clearer picture of her sans microphone, but setting aside those hideous shoes once again, I think she managed to pull off this look with effortless grace.

Rosie Huntington-Whiteley In Antonio Berardi & Balmain – The Universal Music Brits Party

Rosie Huntington-Whiteley In Antonio Berardi & Balmain - The Universal Music Brits Party

Rosie Huntington-Whiteley didn’t attend the main event, but she was spotted on the red carpet for the Universal Music Brits party held at The Soho House Pop-Up on Wednesday (February 25) in London, England.

The model wore a chic Antonio Berardi Fall 2015 gold crystal mini sheath dress, styled with a black Balmain blazer and simple matching accessories including the increasingly popular Jimmy Choo ‘Minnie’ sandals.

I prefer the look without the bold-shoulder blazer, which feels a bit dated even though Balmain trot them out season after season, but on a cold, wet night this piece was no doubt required for comfort rather than style.

Naomi Watts In Altuzarra & Antonio Berardi – 17th Costume Designers Guild Awards & BVLGARI Pre-Oscar Event

Naomi Watts In Altuzarra & Antonio Berardi - 17th Costume Designers Guild Awards & BVLGARI Pre-Oscar Event

Joining Laura Dern at both the 17th Costume Designers Guild Awards and the BVLGARI And Save The Children STOP. THINK. GIVE. Pre-Oscar Event on Tuesday (February 17) in Beverly Hills, California, Naomi Watt’s theme for the night was all white.

17th Costume Designers Guild Awards: Her first look was a refreshingly crisp halter gown, which was simple in design and oozing elegance. I’m glad the styling was kept very simple on this occasion. I’m often on the fence with Naomi’s looks but this I love, especially with the pop of colour coming from her green Irene Neuwirth earrings.

BVLGARI And Save The Children STOP. THINK. GIVE. Pre-Oscar Event: The face of Bvlgari was front and centre at this event, wearing an Antonio Berardi Pre-Fall 2015 white strapless dress with ruffled details, which served as a perfect blank canvas for her opulent sapphire Bvlgari necklace. Sadly, I can’t say I’m too enamoured by this look in its entirety. A) I wish she’d worn a gown, and B) apart from the necklace, this look could’ve benefited from better styling.
