End Of The Week Roundup

With so many looks over the past week, here is a roundup of a few that were missed in the red carpet crush of events.

Julie Ann Emery: Joining Jenny Slate at the ‘Gifted’ LA premiere on Tuesday (April 4), Julie Ann embraced a minimalist angle in this Ingie Paris gown that was lovely for its aura of simplicity, although it seemed to fall a tad long at the front.

Olivia Culpo: Speaking of minimalism, this greige Cushnie et Ochs asymmetric jumpsuit was an easy-chic offering. But, it really just played second fiddle to her ultra-bronzed beauty at the grand opening celebration of the W Las Vegas on Friday (March 31).

Jess Weixler:‏ Visually enticing, the crisp white lines of this Jason Wu gown punctuated its rich burgundy hue. I only wish the actress had opted for a sleeker updo at ‘The SON’ LA premiere on Monday (April 3).

Nicole Kidman In Altuzarra – ‘Big Little Lies’ LA Premiere

Nicole Kidman looked every inch a statuesque beauty, bringing flamboyance to the premiere of HBO’s ‘Big Little Lies’ on Tuesday (February 7) in Hollywood, California.

I love how this Altuzarra Spring 2017 tiered ruffled gown is embellished with clusters of light-catching sequins and beads that form a blackberry and blueberry pattern.

Dialling down the sexy slit, Nicole added some romanticism with soft waves, while emboldening the spirit of the design with a flamenco-red lip.

Evan Rachel Wood In Altuzarra – 2017 SAG Awards

Evan Rachel Wood continued her androgynous streak at the 2017 SAG Awards in LA on Sunday (January 29).

The ‘Westworld’ actress cut quite a figure wore in a custom blue velvet suit by Altuzarra with a Judith Leiber Swarovski crystal clutch and Salvatore Ferragamo shoes.

Menswear looks work best when they are as perfectly fitted as this, and have complementary hair and makeup that are just as striking.

For an extra bit of edge, the back of the jacket features a cutout near the neck that ensures she looks good from all angles.

Thandie Newton In Altuzarra – Variety’s Celebratory Brunch

Thandie Newton tapped into her inner flower child at Variety’s Celebratory Brunch on Saturday (January 28) in West Hollywood, California.

When I saw this Altuzarra Spring 2017 ensemble, I didn’t know where to look first. The bold floral jacket; the mini-cherry print belt; the ruffled dress in a colliding colourway from the jacket—they all screamed for attention.

And that doesn’t even include the sheer Charlotte Olympia ‘Pomeline’ sandals. (Do shoes now have to be see-through, too?)

While there was joy to be had in the happy brightness of the look, the layering of floral print on top of floral print, in combination with those shoes, took it to more dated territory and compromised its fresh potential.

Lola Kirke In Altuzarra & Andrew Gn – W Magazine’s It Girls Party & 2017 Golden Globe Awards

Lola Kirke managed to make both a fashion statement and a political statement when she attended the W Magazine’s It Girls with Stuart Weitzman at A.O.C on Saturday (January 7) and the 2017 Golden Globe Awards at The Beverly Hilton Hotel on Sunday (January 8) with her smallest yet loudest accessory: a small pink button pin reading ‘F**k Paul Ryan.’

W’s It Girls Party: The ‘Mozart in the Jungle’ star wore a lilac Altuzarra shirred top and layered skirt that didn’t exactly flatter her shape as it should have.

Golden Globe Awards: Spring was in the air once Lola arrived on the red carpet with her Andrew Gn sweetheart ball gown strewn in pansy flowers.

Evan Rachel Wood In Alberta Ferretti, Jonathan Simkhai & Alturazza – W Magazine Party, BAFTA Tea Party & Golden Globe Awards

I’ve always loved Evan Rachel Wood’s style which often see her marching to the beat of her own drum. Lately she opted for tailored looks for the W Magazine party, the BAFTA Tea Party and the Golden Globe Awards.

W Magazine Party: This Alberta Ferretti look adds serious polish to Evan Rachel Wood’s already impressive suiting portfolio. Detailed with a geometric print and cut to a sharp silhouette, I love how she makes an added statement with the coordinating rouge lip and pumps.

BAFTA Tea Party: I love how this Jonathan Simkhai jumpsuit redefines the notion of ‘classic’, while presenting a contemporary sense of femininity. The draping and contrasting white detailing for added drama perfect this look for me. Jimmy Choo ‘Max’ sandals and a ‘Celeste’ clutch provided the finishing touches.

2017 Golden Globe Awards: When I saw this ultra sharp Alturazza three-piece tux on Evan, my first thought was Tilda Swinton would give this look an standing O; as did I. Not many could make such a strong statement while possessing an air of playful charm. I’m not sure she quite got the credit she was due for this look.
