2015 Met Gala Roundup

"China: Through The Looking Glass" Costume Institute Benefit Gala - Arrivals

A flurry of even more bold names descended on red carpet of the ‘China: Through the Looking Glass’ 2015 Met Gala, hosted at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City on Monday (May 4), where their colourful variety of looks only contributed to this year’s fashion extravaganza.

Anna Wintour
: As the gala co-host, the ‘Vogue’ editor-in-chief dressed thematically (for her, anyway) in a Chanel Spring 2015 Couture gown featuring dimensional, all-over poppy embroidery, which had been lengthened from the runway’s original shorter version. She should have maintained her signature cap sleeve, as the flower petal statement shoulders translated as a bit cumbersome, despite their inherent artistry.

Bee Shaffer: Like her mother, Bee also found inspiration in flowers, opting for a mahogany blossom gown by Alexander McQueen. I much preferred this look to Anna’s, especially with the enchantment of the beautifully embroidered Chinese cranes that alighted down the back of the dress.

Who Wore Alberta Ferretti Better…Evangeline Lilly or Ellie Goulding?

Who Wore Alberta Ferretti Better Evangeline Lilly or Ellie Goulding

Evangeline Lilly wore a heavenly Alberta Ferretti Spring 2015 blush gown enhanced with white lace embroidery, for the LA premiere of ‘The Hobbit: The Battle Of The Five Armies’ back in December, styled with an Edie Parker pearlized clutch and Atelier Swarovski jewels.

Ellie Goulding wore the same gown back in February while attending the 2015 Elle Style Awards, adding just a selection of CARAT* jewels.

The gown is gorgeous, but I’m not a fan of either hairstyle.

Evangeline was perhaps over styled, whereas Ellie put in no effort at all.

In the end I went for Evangeline, as she carried off this look in a more graceful manner.

Ellie Goulding In Alberta Ferretti – 2015 BRIT Awards

Ellie Goulding In Alberta Ferretti - 2015 BRIT Awards

Ellie Goulding attended the 2015 BRIT Awards held at the O2 Arena on Wednesday (February 25) in London, England, following the Elle Style Awards the previous evening.

Using Alberta Ferretti as a one-stop shop, she once again wore a look from the Italian designer’s Spring 2015 collection.

While the dress is quite similar, I much prefer this look, which marries modern ethereality with age-old innocence.

Looking back at her previous look, the other problem was that the nude hue was washing her out; here she’s radiant, regardless of the samey styling.

Ellie Goulding In Alberta Ferretti – 2015 Elle Style Awards

Ellie Goulding In Alberta Ferretti - 2015 Elle Style Awards

Ellie Goulding attended the 2015 Elle Style Awards on Tuesday (February 24) in London, England, where she was one of the presenters on the night.

The singer, who does love a blush-coloured dress, wore a gorgeous gown from Alberta Ferretti’s Spring 2015 collection, which I love for sculpting an overtly feminine silhouette.

Sadly, I feel totally underwhelmed by Ellie in this gown.

Mostly because she fails to breathe any life into the look. I wish she’d done more, something, anything with her hair, and lastly because I had hoped to see this on the red carpet again during Cannes.

You may remember that Evangeline Lilly wore this same dress to ‘The Hobbit: The Battle Of The Five Armies’ LA premiere.

The look was complete with CARAT* London jewellery.

Laura Dern In Alberta Ferretti – 2015 Oscars

Laura Dern In Alberta Ferretti - 2015 Oscars

Laura Dern graced the red carpet on Sunday (February 22) at the 2015 Oscars, hosted at Hollywood’s Dolby Theatre.

Nominated for her role in ‘Wild’ Laura opted for a showstopping metallic gown by Alberta Ferretti.

Laura’s pewter-hued gown was calm in colour but was a pure texture dream complete with rivets and silk panelling from head to toe. Evoking a look of mesh armour, the gown featured curve-enhancing lines along the waist and hips that created a beautiful silhouette on the actress.

To punctuate the metallic theme of this look, Laura accessorized with a graphic black and silver clutch and Bulgari jewels including a medallion necklace, earrings, and a turquoise-coloured ring that was designed in honor of the character she played in her Oscar-nominated film.

I wish the medallion necklace had been left at home, however. The inclusion of the heavy piece of jewelry takes the gown very close to a ‘Game of Thrones’ costume and the dress had so much beautiful detailing, it didn’t need a piece of jewelry to add interest.
