Zosia Mamet In Maiyet – 10th Annual Apollo Circle Benefit

Zosia Mamet In Maiyet - 10th Annual Apollo Circle Benefit

Zosia Mamet attended the 10th annual Apollo Circle benefit at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City yesterday evening.

Looking as stern as always, the ‘Girls’ actress wore a summery Maiyet Spring 2014 yellow gown with a pink floral print and ruffled detailing.

I know what you’re thinking: 1. This is so not her style; and 2. This is season inappropriate.

We often give passes to Spring 2014 dresses worn in the winter months, but this one, in New York, doesn’t feel quite right to me.

My other issues are the harsh red lip and red pumps she opted to style with this look.

Give this look to Emmy Rossum come March and I will have a totally different outlook on this dress.

Zosia Mamet In Mulberry – VH1 ‘You Oughta Know In Concert’ 2013

Zosia Mamet In Mulberry - VH1 'You Oughta Know In Concert' 2013

The ‘Girls’ actresses were all out last night, with Lena Dunham at the Glamour Awards, Allison Williams at the CFDA celebrations, and here we have Zosia Mamet at the VH1 ‘You Oughta Know In Concert’ 2013 event, held at Roseland Ballroom in New York City.

Looking surprisingly polished, the actress wore a metallic-emerald-green jacquard suit from the Mulberry Fall 2013 collection styled with a black camisole.

While the hair could’ve used just 5 more minutes of her time, the rest of the look cannot be sniffed at. Even the trousers are a perfect fit; the same cannot be said for Ciara’s look last night.

Zosia Mamet In Honor – 2013 Emmy Awards

Zosia Mamet In Honor - 2013 Emmy Awards

Zosia Mamet took to the red carpet today at the Nokia Theatre L.A. Live in Los Angeles, California for the 2013 Primetime Emmy Awards.

The ‘Girls’ star took a more feminine approach to her outfit du jour with a floor-scraping Honor Resort 2014 gown.

The dress blurred the lines between girly and goth with its exploded, out-of-focus floral print and its black leather detail at the bust, although the silhouette may have translated more successfully on Zosia with a slightly shorter hemline. She also wore Brian Atwood’s ‘Tribeca’ peep-toes—not that you could see them.

She did pick up on the colour scheme of all those magenta flowers with a fresh, pink lip and a lavender-toned, smokey eye, which was lovely.

Haute or just plain hazy?

Spring 2014 New York Fashion Week Front Row – Day 1

Spring 2014 New York Fashion Week FROW - Day 1

Here is a quick roundup of the notable attendees who took their front-row seats during Day 1 of Spring 2014 New York Fashion Week.

Zosia Mamet @ Honor: Still not able to crack a smile, the ‘Girls’ actress who has worn many Honor pieces on the red carpet opted for this pretty pink jacquard racer-front mini dress styled with red-and-white Tabitha Simmons for Honor pointy flats. Not one to usually wear much makeup, I love the pink lip colour here, but her overall styling – not surprisingly – is off.

Patrina Miller @ Tadashi Shoji: The Broadway star was probably picking out her next Tony Awards gown, taking her seat wearing a lovely red embroidered lace cocktail dress from Tadashi Shoji’s Spring 2013 collection.

Olivia Palermo @ BCBG Max Azria: The socialite and FROW regular doesn’t always play the ‘wear pieces from the designer show I’m attending’ game but she did so on this occasion, wearing a BCBG white-and-nude draped long-sleeved Resort 2014 dress with her favourite summer accessories, including the Aquazzura ‘Sexy Thing’ booties, Ray-bans and her crochet Gerard Darel bag, and eclectic jewels including the Lulu Frost necklace I had on my Must-Have Monday post a few weeks back.

‘Ain’t Them Bodies Saints’ ‘Downtown’ Calvin Klein New York Screening

Calvin Klein

As the hosts of the ‘Ain’t Them Bodies Saints’ screening, along with IFC Films and The Cinema Society, Calvin Klein dressed the other attendees aside from Rooney Mara.

Robin Wright: The actress snuggled up to her beau wearing head-to-toe black.

Ben Foster: Rooney’s co-star grabs my attention in this eggplant peaked-lapel one-button Calvin Klein suit for both the colour and sheen. He styled it with a light-grey shirt.

Melissa George: The blonde beauty looked gorgeous wearing a Calvin Klein seafoam-green cowl-neck loose-fit dress, which she styled with a silver-trimmed Calvin Klein clutch and nude sandals. I love everything about this – mostly the effortlessness of it all.

Zosia Mamet: Also dressed in Calvin Klein, the ‘Girls’ actress took a more laidback approach to the evening, wearing a blue silk shirt with leather pants. I considered giving her a rare pass, despite the racoon eyes, but the white shoes are heinous with this look.

Zosia Mamet In Rebecca Minkoff – ‘The Spectacular Now’ New York Screening

Zosia Mamet In Rebecca Minkoff - 'The Spectacular Now' New York Screening

Zosia Mamet attended the screening for ‘The Spectacular Now’ at The Crow’s Nest on Friday in Montauk, New York.

The ‘Girls’ actress rarely grabs my attention on the red carpet, but in this case she did, and for all the wrong reasons.

Working the red carpet can be a daunting experience, but the actress has had enough practice to get it right and know how to play the game.

Here she gets it oh-so-very-wrong in her Rebecca Minkoff Resort 2014 printed top and jacket styled with red satin shorts.

I was going to say ‘Where shall I start?’ but it’s all bad. The satin shorts aren’t flattering; maybe she should’ve considered just the printed jacket or the top, and then there’s the messy hair to contend with.

But that is all fixable. What pulls this look down the most is her ‘I don’t wanna be here attitude’ and her poor posture.

Allison Williams In Jonathan Saunders & Zosia Mamet In Marc by Marc Jacobs – ‘Girls’ New York Press Conference

Allison Williams In Jonathan Saunders & Zosia Mamet In Marc by Marc Jacobs - 'Girls' New York Press Conference

Allison Williams and Zosia Mamet attended the Hollywood Foreign Press Association press conference for ‘Girls’, held at The London Hotel in New York City on Monday afternoon.

I’m not usually a fan of posting cropped photos, but following Zosia’s disastrous look from ‘The Heat’ New York premiere, I thought it was only fair to show her improvement.

Allison Williams: The pretty actress, who apparently doesn’t own a hair band, let her enviable, glossy tresses tumble down her back, wearing a red floral-print Jonathan Saunders Pre-Fall 2013 sleeveless dress.

Zosia Mamet: As said above, Zosia’s look was much improved. The talented actress wore a blue-and-green printed Marc by Marc Jacobs Fall 2013 ensemble styled with a side-swept braided ponytail and a selection of rings. Now if only she could turn that frown upside down.

‘The Heat’ New York Premiere

‘The Heat’ New York Premiere

The New York premiere of ‘The Heat’ took place at the Ziegfeld Theatre on Sunday evening with the two main stars in attendance.

Sandra Bullock: The actress slipped back to wearing black, wearing an Ermanno Scervino leather dress following her amazing purple-hued Prabal Gurung frock from last week. She makes me forgive and forget thanks to her outstanding Bottega Veneta appliquéd leather sandals.

Melissa McCarthy: When I saw this look I said “almost”. The actress wore a black jumpsuit, with a rather odd sarong-like detail wrapped around her waist. This detail kills the look, doing more harm than then intended good. I’m sure she would have looked better without it. Someone needs to put Mr Tadashi Shoji on her speed dial.

Zosia Mamet: One can only assume that Zosia was rolled out of bed and onto the red carpet for this premiere, as there is no other reason for this look.
