Red Carpet Fashion Awards

Zooey Stella Jean

I would love to see this preppy-minded, ethnic-influenced 50s style dress on Zooey Deschanel. Minimal styling would ensure the dress doesn’t get upstaged. White shoes would lessen the chances of her styling this look with black tights.

Zooey Deschanel In Oscar de la Renta - 2013 Fox Fall Eco-Casino Party

Zooey Deschanel walked the blue carpet at the 2013 Fox Fall Eco-Casino Party at The Bungalow in Santa Monica, California on Monday.

The actress wore a sleeveless white Oscar de la Renta dress with white lace detailing paired with pink Oroton ‘Sepia’ suede bow pumps.

Zooey stayed within her comfort zone with her beauty look, with full, fringed lashes and rosy lips and wearing her signature brunette locks down in voluminous curls.

While the dress is beautiful, something about this look just strikes me as lackluster. A fishtail braid, or even a voluminous ponytail would have maintained the relaxed style Zooey loves but given her a bit more polish.

Zooey Deschanel In Tommy Hilfiger - 2013 Met Gala

When up for nearly 24 hours straight, you tend to look out for those you recognize when coming to the end of blogging an epic event like the Met Gala.

This is why I missed Zooey Deschanel. The ‘New Girl’ actress was totally unrecognizable.

She didn’t wear a mohawk or sport super-thick eyebrows a la Ginnifer Goodwin (thankfully) for this punk-themed event: quite the opposite. She was the picture of elegance in her Tommy Hilfiger one-shouldered striped gown.

We are so used to the same hair and makeup from Zooey that her simple styling, lighter lip colour, and low side-swept bun sans bangs have transformed her into a totally different woman.

An Edie Parker safety-pin clutch and Forevermark jewels completed her look.

Are you as stunned by this transformation as I am?

Zooey Deschanel In Dolce & Gabbana - Screening And Q&A For Fox's 'New Girl'

‘New Girl’ star Zooey Deschanel walked the red carpet at a screening and Q&A for the comedy television series at the Leonard H. Goldenson Theatre in Hollywood earlier this week.

We’ve come to expect some element of quirk with Zooey, but her latest clunky style statement was perhaps too much inspired by her funny, offbeat TV character.

It started out okay with her festive Dolce & Gabbana high-waisted, pleated ribbon skirt. But the party stopped there.

Even though her black midriff-baring top was on trend, the colour and the proportion felt wrong here. The shirt almost needed to be cropped a fraction of an inch shorter to keep it from looking like an untucked tee.

Black opaque tights and pointy black patent heels added even more head-scratching heaviness.

A cute half up-half down hairstyle, along with a coral-red lippie, rounded out the look.

2013VanityFair_ZooeyDeschanel

Zooey Deschanel joined the star-studded guest list at the 2013 Vanity Fair Party for the Oscars tonight, hosted by editor Graydon Carter, at the Sunset Tower in California.

But, for Hollywood’s biggest evening of the year, the ‘New Girl’ actress’s long-sleeve dress from the Valentino Resort 2013 collection was a bit of a downer.

Even Zooey seemed a bit melancholy.

The look was charming enough, and at least the dusty pink hue and the too-sweet embellishment was brighter than the lookbook version. But despite the sheer chiffon layers, there was a heaviness and a matronly edge to this design.

It all was rather demure and folksy for such a glittery evening.

The highlight of the look was Zooey’s newly cropped haircut, which was parted to the side and curled under. I cannot wait to see how this cute new ‘do looks with one of her signature quirky-cool ensembles.
