Red Carpet Fashion Awards

Zoe Krat Alexander Wang

When your parents are Lenny Kravitz and Lisa Bonet, having great style is in your DNA.

Zoe Kravitz proved that once again when she took centre stage at the Zoe Kravitz For Swarovski Crystallized launch party, held at Gramercy Park Hotel Rooftop in New York City yesterday evening.

Wearing a look by her go-to designer, Alexander Wang, the New Yorker donned a black straight-cut crewneck leather dress separated by sheer panels from his Spring 2013 collection.

Opting for a head-to-toe Wang look, she wore the black ‘Aline’ T-strap sandals we first saw on Karolina Kurkova, with a black clutch.

I don’t think the coloured necklace was needed with her minimalist look, but it’s not that noticeable to be a bother.

A centre-parted braided ‘do and kohl-rimmed eyes completed her look.

Whenever Zoe Kravitz wears for a red carpet appearance, I instantly devote my full attention to this established fashionite, which is exactly what I did when pictures appeared of her at the AMC Lincoln Square Theater in New York for the premiere of ‘The Dark Knight Rises.’

Unforunately, the trusty Kravitz failed to hit a home run this time around.

Clad in a black silk and mesh cocktail sheath from Emilio Pucci’s Fall 2012 collection, Kravitz’s look struggled to find its identity.

While the top of the dress certainly leaves nothing to the imagination, the below-the-knee hemline is modest and contradicts the risquée design above it.

I can usually forgive many a fashion mistake if there is a good shoe involved. Unfortunately, her see-through Alexander Wang ‘Sabine’ pumps does not a best dressed nominee make. A towering heel could have compensated for the longer length of the dress — in fact, if there was ever a time for a monster-sized Christian Louboutin heel, this was it

Kravitz’s red nails and black clutch, on the other hand, were perfect accessories for this look, and complemented her cropped, choppy haircut.

Do you think Kravitz’s look was a miss? Or are you putting her on your best dressed list?

Zoe Kravitz opted for something softer and more romantic to her usual edgy/boho looks we are used to seeing on the red carpet at the 2011 UNICEF Snowflake Ball which took place at Cipriani 42nd Wall Street in New York City last night.

As a Chanel front-row regular, it’s not a surprise to see her wearing this Chanel Fall 2011 gown.

Her black and white gown features a beautifully dramatic skirt and a sculptured top.

Zoe doesn’t let her petite frame get the better of her; she stands tall and commands your attention in this look.

It’s refreshing to see a different side to her.

One can only wear so much Alexander Wang before it becomes too predictable.

Blunt bangs, a simple bun and a rouge lip shade completed her look.

Zoe Kravitz was in typical rock chick/downtown New Yorker mode whilst attending the 2011 CFDA Vogue/Fashion Fund Awards at the Skylight SoHo in New York City last night.

The actress, who’s BFFs with designer Alexander Wang, is the first to wear a look from the designer’s Spring 2012 collection on the red carpet.

Her lush mahogany leather mini dress with a perforated pattern was complement with a matching lip colour.

I’m not a fan of pointy pumps for this very reason: they can often make your feet look much bigger than they really are, which is very much the case for the petite actress.

The shoes, as well as the lack of Frizz-Ease serum, pull down this look for me.

Zoe accessorized with a gold cuff, gold rings and a black wristlet.

Zoe Kravitz also attended the “X-Men: First Class” New York Premiere last night.

The actress opted for an Alexander Wang silver spaghetti strap velvet gown which has a Donna Karan vibe to it.

Dramatic eye makeup, nude lips and an armlet completed her look.

I love how cool this girl is. Nothing appears to phase her.

Like Nicole Richie she will always be a hippie girl at heart, but she can pull off uncharacteristic looks like this.

The stains on her dress are a tad unfortunate.
