Red Carpet Fashion Awards

Zhang Ziyi was the runaway winner for best dressed this week.

Many of you have immediately added her to your BDOTY lists; that’s how much you love the Asian beauty in her Marc Bouwer navy blue ruched gown which she styled with Bulgari jewels and a Bulgari bag.

I totally agree with you guys that Zhang Ziyi was the best dressed this week, so I decided to give credit to my second choice, Karolina Kurkova.

The supermodel totally nailed this menswear-inspired Roberto Cavalli look in a chic and sexy way. As I said in the original post, she worked the hell out of this look from H-2-T.

Zhang Ziyi attended the New York Chinese Film Festival, at the Alice Tully Hall in New York City yesterday evening looking as stunning as ever.

The Asian star, who was presented with the ‘Most Outstanding Asian Artist Award’ at the event, wore another Marc Bouwer gown, this time from the designer’s Fall 2012 Couture collection.

Her navy velvet cap-sleeved gown with gathered detailing and a plunging neckline couldn’t be more season appropriate.

She dazzled the crowds with stunning Bulgari jewels and a gold satin Bulgari clutch from the Serpenti collection.

A simple ponytail and a beautiful smile completed her look.

I think this is a BDOTW contender. Do you agree?

Zhang Ziyi attended the Gala Presentation Press Conference for ‘Dangerous Liasons’ during the 17th Busan Film Festival at the Shinsegae Centumcity cultural hall on Friday in South Korea.

Still opting for edgier attire, the actress wore a Fendi Fall 2012 look.

This is the second Fendi look to have hit the red carpet within a week, but this look has a much better overall result.

I think it has a lot to do with the accessorizing.

The Asian beauty added a textured bolero and corseted belt with a peplum to take the LBD from bland to worthy of a second look.

A selection of gold bracelets, a chic updo and Fendi ‘Fendista’ black pumps completed her look.

You may remember that Cate Blanchett wore this same dress last week.

If you are pining for Zhang Ziyi’s princessy red-carpet looks, I regret to inform you that she’s still opting for edgier looks.

The Asian actress was in Beijing yesterday promoting her new project ‘Dangerous Liaisons’ wearing a Mugler Fall 2012 dress.

Her cream-and-white bold-shouldered dress with a sculptural peplum isn’t something we would’ve pictured her wearing a year ago, but this new Zhang is all about experimenting on the red carpet.

I have to say I really enjoy seeing what she’s going to wear next.

Those Christian Louboutin ‘Daffodile’ pumps continue to be her favourite choice of footwear, much like Fan Bingbing, but hopefully this fad will end soon. The shoes and the poor hemming of the skirt were the only disappointing things about this look.

Cindy Chao jewels, a neat bun and flawless makeup completed her look.

BDOTW worthy?

With a little help from her friends, Kristen Stewart won best dressed this week.

Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge had many looks this week, but it was her Prabal Gurung which stood out by a country mile, so I share your admiration for this look.

My overall favourite was Zhang Ziyi who looked breath-taking in her Marc Bouwer gown.

There was a time when Toronto Film Festival was a lot less glamorous than its cousins, Cannes and Venice.

Something has changed this year, the gowns are more spectacular, and we are seeing a lot more couture so I couldn’t be happier.

Zhang Ziyi was glamour personified when she took the red carpet ‘Dangerous Liaisons’ premiere yesterday evening during the Toronto Film Festival.

Her ivory gown with bold shoulders, keyhole detail and a bejewelled neckline doesn’t make me go weak at the knees; it has me passed out on the floor.

Zhang Ziyi accessorized with silver jewels and an embellished clutch.

With a fresh face glow she completed her look with retro marcel waves and diamanté nails.
