Zhang Ziyi In Mikael D & Georges Hobeika Couture – ‘Lucky Star’ Press Conference & Premiere

Zhang Ziyi In Mikael D & Georges Hobeika - 'Lucky Star' Press Conference & Premiere

Zhang Ziyi wore two looks for both the press conference and premiere of her latest movie, ‘Lucky Star’, with only one look being a success in my eyes.

Press Conference: Her first look was a Mikael D Resort 2014 graphic-print dress with a cascade front which, with the right styling, could’ve been an interesting look. Tumbling curls and conservative pumps don’t really complement the edgy design.

Premiere: It was back to tried and true for the premiere, where the actress shone wearing a Georges Hobeika Fall 2013 Couture yellow strapless cocktail dress embroidered with delicate bows, flower-shaped paillettes and Swarovski crystals. If I was to be overly fussy I would say lose the necklace, but the shoes and hair work on this occasion as both complement her pretty frock.

Zhang Ziyi In Elie Saab Couture – 2013 Chinese Film Festival Opening Ceremony

Zhang Ziyi In Elie Saab Couture - 2013 Chinese Film Festival Opening Ceremony

St. Petersburg, Russia is hosting the 2013 Chinese Film Festival, which kicked off with the opening ceremony yesterday evening.

Zhang Ziyi and Jackie Chan were invited to speak at the event, which saw Ziyi looking gorgeous wearing an Elie Saab Fall 2012 Couture printed chiffon gown with a delicate lace embroidered overlay, opting not to wear the gold belt, which I think was a mistake.

She enhanced the look with dazzling earrings and little other jewels, allowing the gown to speak for itself.

A tight bun and light-pink lip colour completed her look.

Zhang Ziyi In Alberta Ferretti – ‘My Lucky Star’ Press Conference

Following her stateside promotion of her latest movie, ‘The Grandmaster’, Zhang Ziyi was back home where she attended a press conference for her next project, ‘My Lucky Star’, in Beijing, China.

She wore a mix of pieces which included an embellished sheer long-sleeved top from the Alberta Ferretti Fall 2013 collection worn with a black bra and black-and-white polka-dot skirt.

I love the playful skirt, which adds an informal touch to her look – as do those bunny ears.

Giuseppe Zanotti star-detail suede cage booties with gold hardware added some sex appeal to the look, balancing out its saccharine nature.

Zhang Ziyi In Chanel – ‘The Grandmaster’ LA Premiere

Zhang Ziyi In Chanel - 'The Grandmaster' LA Premiere

Following her guest appearance on ‘Extra’ earlier in the day, Zhang Ziyi took to the red carpet at ArcLight Cinemas in Hollywood, California for ‘The Grandmaster’ premiere.

Opting for a dainty Chanel Fall 2013 black dress featuring an A-line skirt and patent-leather panels, she added a pearl-accented leather belt and a Chanel striped chain-accented bag to liven up the look.

A dainty dress deserves a dainty shoe, but Ziyi selected a heavy pair of black Casadei pumps with gold piping, which I didn’t favour.

Punchy pink lips and diamond-encrusted pendant earrings completed her look.

Zhang Ziyi In Dsquared² – Extra

Zhang Ziyi In Dsquared² - Extra

Zhang Ziyi was spotted at The Grove in Los Angeles, California yesterday afternoon, where she was headed to the set of ‘Extra’ to promote her new movie, ‘The Grandmaster’.

The Asian beauty wore a Dsquared² black-and-white sleeveless empire-waist dress with a full skirt and printed hemline from the Resort 2014 collection, which she styled with a tailored cropped black collarless blazer.

Her playful frock was styled with nude Louboutin pumps, diamond drop earrings and a stack of bracelets.

This eye-catching look is perfect for a daytime TV appearance; however, I would’ve loved to have seen this look sans blazer, even though it’s the blazer that gives the look an air of sophistication.

Best Dressed Of The Week – Zhang Ziyi in Vionnet, Lily Collins in Houghton & Ashley Madekwe in Diane Von Furstenberg

It was a tie this week, as you couldn’t decide between Zhang Ziyi’s bright-orange Vionnet frock and Lily Collins’ backless Houghton gown.

The looks couldn’t be more different: Ziyi’s was sexy and flirty, while Lily’s possessed an ethereal goddess quality.

My pick was Ashley Madekwe in her Diane von Furstenberg jumpsuit, you won’t be surprised to learn. Even though I hate this word, the best word to sum up this look is ‘fierce’, feline fierce, with plenty of sex appeal and attitude to boot, with impeccable styling and flawless makeup putting the icing on this tasty cake.

Our menswear choices differed too. You went for the sleek suaveness of Liam Hemsworth in his ice-blue suit, whereas Robert Sheehan in his paisley-print Dent De Man suit was always going to be a winner for me.

Zhang Ziyi In J. Mendel – ‘The Grandmaster’ New York Screening

Zhang Ziyi In J Mendel - 'The Grandmaster' New York Screening

After being interviewed in the rain on Good Morning America earlier in the day, Zhang Ziyi continued to promote her new movie, ‘The Grandmaster’, inside the Regal E-Walk Stadium in New York City, where a screening was held.

Following her brightly hued frock, she opted for this dark and mysterious forest-green J. Mendel silk-chiffon Fall 2013 pleated gown with a layered skirt and plunging neckline.

Carrying a J. Mendel ‘Moonlight’ minaudière clutch, the rest of her accessories included Tesiro earrings, Repossi rings and black Christian Louboutin peep-toes.

While some might say she is overdressed for a screening, I will never frown at her continued glamorous efforts. I particularly love the accessories on this occasion – they really bring the look alive.
