Zawe Ashton In Julien Macdonald – 2013 Elle Style Awards

After her fierce foray onto the red carpet of Sunday’s 2013 BAFTA Awards, Zawe Ashton maintained her sartorial shock factor at the 2013 Elle Style Awards the following evening.

The British actress was a silver bullet at London’s Savoy Hotel, as she donned her second Julien Macdonald look in as many days.

Compacted with rows and rows of silver, mirror-like studs, this geometric, plunge gown had quite the reflective properties—and some sort of glam sci-fi vibe that I’m still trying to figure out.

She paired the look with jewellery from H. Stern and Annoushka, a silver Jimmy Choo ‘Ciggy’clutch and Christian Louboutin heels.

With such a strong fashion statement, I would have liked her beauty to be softer. Her hair was just too severe and the makeup far too much.

Equal parts provocative and rebel-chic, Zawe had no problem grabbing stares from the stylish Elle guest list.

Zawe Ashton In Julien Macdonald – 2013 BAFTA Awards

Zawe Ashton exudes a strong rebel chic vibe at the 2013 BAFTA Awards held at the Royal Opera House in London on Sunday.

I’m usually a big fan of the Zawe’s red carpet choices, but I can’t get behind this busy Julian McDonald Spring 2012 number.

The all-over embroidery and sheer skirted bottom on this gown induced some serious detail overkill; which had the actress looking a touch too theatrical on the red carpet.

Perfect for the Grammys, not so much on a cold rainy night in London for the BAFTAs.

Zawe Ashton In Sarah Baadarani – London Evening Standard British Film Awards

Zawe Ashton joined Eddie Redmayne and Andrea Riseborough on the red carpet for the London Evening Standard British Film Awards at the London Film Museum on Monday evening.

The ‘Fresh Meat’ star has pretty much worn Chalayan exclusively on the red carpet, but she shone the spotlight on another designer on this occasion.

Zawe’s dress was created by up-and-coming designer, Sarah Baadarani.

The signature of the label, which was founded in 2012, is modern classicism and the essence is sensual, feminine and powerfully elegant.

The last three points exactly describe Zawe’s Spring 2013 white dress featuring black-and-grey lace appliqués on a sheer bodice, which has been shortened from the version in the look book.

A black blazer was nonchalantly thrown over her shoulders, with black Louboutin heels, a Jimmy Choo clutch and Annoushka jewels accessorizing the look.

I love the blazer, which gives the look an uber-cool vibe, but I’m curious to see how the sleeves look with the shorter hemline.

The smouldering beauty completed her look with smoky eyes and a nude lip.

Zawe Ashton In Chalayan – British Independent Film Awards 2012

Zawe Ashton was challenging for the ‘Most Promising Newcomer’ of the year award when she stepped onto the red carpet at Old Billingsgate Market for the British Independent Film Awards 2012 yesterday evening.

The British actress has pretty much worn Hussein Chalayan exclusively this year for both her red carpet and TV appearances.

On this occasion she opted for a more sculptural piece from the designer’s Spring 2010 collection.

Her charcoal one-shoulder dress, which appears to have a slight modification around the centre part of the look, was amped up with striking red pumps and a silver Jimmy Choo clutch.

This look proves that edgy can be elegant.

Zawe Ashton In Chalayan – Cosmopolitan Ultimate Woman Of The Year Awards

I’m not much of a TV buff (having only just caught up on ‘Downtown Abbey’) so I haven’t seen Zawe Ashton star in Channel 4’s ‘Fresh Meat’.

Apparently she is rather good in the TV series as Cosmopolitan crowned her ‘Best Newcomer’ at their Ultimate Woman Of The Year Awards, held at the V&A in London last night.

A spot on the BDOTW list could also be on the cards as she looked stunning wearing a Chalayan Fall 2012 gown.

The Hackney-born actress looked statuesque wearing a sultry forest-green one-sleeve gown with a daring plunging neckline, side slit and black satin draped detail over her other shoulder.

Having had a mild obsession with this Fall 2012 collection, I’m glad a piece has finally made it onto the red carpet and been presented so effortlessly.

Taupe pumps, a statement bracelet and a gold clutch completed her look.
