Red Carpet Fashion Awards

Winona Ryder made a rare appearance on the red carpet last night for the premiere of ‘The Iceman’ at the 2012 Venice Film Festival.

The actress, who was a fan (and paparazzi) favourite in the 90s, looked a little bewildered to be back in the spotlight – not that her deer-stuck-in-headlights expression detracted from the classic black Dolce & Gabbana gown.

Winona embellished her look with a pair of bejewelled Lanvin drop earrings and a plain satin clutch, both of which offset the dress’ gorgeous lace overlay.

Winona Ryder made a rare appearance on the red carpet at the Marni for H&M Collection launch party on Friday evening in LA.

The actress played up her quirky goth-girl persona, à la ‘Beetlejuice,’ in a dark polka-dot overcoat with three-quarter-length sleeves, paired with matching cropped trousers from the upcoming collection.

Winona paired her ensemble with bow-adorned chunky heels.

Do you like the matching pants? Or do you think so much dark print overwhelms the petite actress?

Here Comes The Bride Award
If you thought Winona Ryder dress at the 2011 SAG Awards looked very bridal, well it is.

Her white strapless Alberta Ferretti gown is from the Spring 2011 bridal collection.

It’s a sweet look and refreshing from her usual black, but it’s not the right look for Gothic Winona.

I may have liked it had she done something different with her hair like a chic updo, but the high curly ponytail isn’t sophisticated enough for the dress.

Vram for Gray jewels and a black clutch completed her look.

During Milan Spring 2011 Fashion Week, Alessandra Ambrosio attended the amfAR Milano 2010 event.

She opted for a loose, wavy chignon to complement her beautiful Dolce & Gabbana lace strapless dress with a full skirt.

Black satin pumps with a lace overlay and a simple necklace completed her look.

Winona Ryder wore the same dress on the red carpet at the 2010 Gotham Independent Film Awards which was held in New York City last month.

Winona made this look very 80s prom plus I really dislike her shoe choice.

Easy win for Alessandra.

On Monday night Leighton Meester wore a Thom Browne suit on the red carpet to the 2010 Gotham Independent Film Awards.

By Tuesday night many other celebrities had followed suit….see what I did there.

Stylish celebrities including Jessica Alba, Lara Bingle and Winona Ryder were all spotted on the red carpet wearing menswear instead of pretty dress.

The looks ranged from shirtless in Dolce & Gabbana for Jessica, who paired her look with sexy studded Christian Louboutin Pigalle studded pumps and an ivory Christian Louboutin Loulou clutch.

Lara opted to wear a white shirt and black velvet ribbon neck-tie with her peg-legged suit.

Gothic Winona kept her look black on black on black on black.

Her satin lapel Givenchy by Riccardo Tisci suit was paired with a satin clutch and silver pendant necklace.

They all look smart, but the only one who nails this look is Jessica.

Leighton can’t take total credit for this look as Marlene Dietrich and Diane Keaton popularized androgynous-chic a long time ago.

Winona Ryder graces the cover of  Elle UK’s July 2009 issue, shot by Matthias Vriens McGrath.

On the newsstand cover, she wears a nude tulle Dolce & Gabbana corset, and on the subscribers cover, she wears a simple black American Apparel top.

In the interview, Winona talks about childhood bullies, leading roles, beauty and her latest film, “The Private Lives of Pippa Lee”.

On Being Bullied: “We only shopped at the Salvation Army, and I would get these three-piece, 1970s little boy suits. I had really short hair, and the third day of seventh grade, these kids basically jumped me in the hall because they thought I was a gay boy, and they roughed me up… I think when that happened, I kind of went into a movie in my head because I couldn’t deal with what was happening. Kids would say, ‘You’re a witch, you’re creepy, you’re crazy.’ I was in the number-one movie in the country and I was still being bullied in school.”
