Get The Look: Vera Farmiga’s ‘The Judge’ LA Premiere Makeup

"The Judge" - Los Angeles Premiere - ArrivalsCelebrity makeup artist Dawn Broussard worked with Vera Farmiga for the premiere of ‘The Judge’ this week.

Dawn shared her beauty inspiration: “For Vera’s premiere look I wanted to create a modern yet unique and unexpected tone. I created a smouldering effect with the eye shadow shades, deflecting on the hints of rose in the colour and texture of her Elie Saab dress.”

Here’s how to get the look.

Dawn started by prepping the skin with Hourglass Primer, gently working it into the skin with a Shiseido Foundation Brush. Using the same brush, she applied Laura Mercier Smooth Finish Flawless Fluide in Shell. In keeping with the same tool, she finds it helps with the mixture of the two products. The more you work it into the skin, the more seamless the texture becomes. Laura Mercier Secret Camouflage in SC-2 I was then applied lightly to the under-eye area, forehead, chin and bridge of the nose to highlight and to conceal any imperfections. She dusted translucent powder very sparingly over the edges of the face, keeping the skin looking fresh and luminous.

NARS Eyeshadow Duo in Dolomites was used to blend around the eyes. This colour combo is amazing for creating a smouldering look, yet is still playful – the hints of rose quartz and dark chocolates glisten on the eyes. This is one of her new favourites for the fall palette. Dawn used only these two colours to create the look, blending them softly together and washing them over the eyes.

She lined the lower lash line with the darker colour, yet kept it quite close to the lash line. Dawn then added the rose quartz in the corners of the eye for a boost and a highlight. Using a Lash Card by Elizabeth Mott, she applied Lancôme Hypnose Drama Mascara in Excessive Black. You place the Lash Card right on the lash line and then move the mascara wand up the lashes onto the card. This really helps paint the lashes much more precisely and any excess product will remain on the card as opposed to the skin.

Tarte Brow Mousse in Taupe filled in her brows ever so slightly on the edges to create a bolder shape. Keeping the brow hairs in place perfectly was Tarte Tinted Brow Gel in Taupe. This product has such a precise brush and the colours are perfection.

Dawn then blended NARS Contour Blush in Olympia right underneath the cheekbone and around the edges of the face to give structure and depth where it was needed. Keeping a bright healthy pink glow, she used NARS Blush in Mata Hari.

The lip colour she wanted to keep neutral yet with a hint of freshness. Burt’s Bees Lip Crayon in Sedona Sands is a wonderful nude colour with a hint of flush. She also used MAC Lip Pencil in Oak for slight definition.

Vera Farmiga In Elie Saab – ‘The Judge’ LA Premiere

Vera Farmiga In Elie Saab - 'The Judge' LA Premiere

Vera Farmiga joined Leighton Meester on the red carpet for the LA premiere of ‘The Judge’ held at AMPAS Samuel Goldwyn Theater on Wednesday (October 1) in Beverly Hills, California.

The actress selected a striped Elie Saab Resort 2015 salmon-pink and black gown with elegant panels in salmon-pink, black and alluring sheer lace skimming the body creating an effortlessly hourglass-enhancing silhouette.

No-fuss accessories, neutral makeup and a pretty pink clutch rounded out her look.

Having a case of déjà vu? That’s because Hailee Steinfeld wore the shorter version of this frock earlier this year to the Teen Choice Awards.

Vera Farmiga attended ‘The Judge’ premiere during the 2014 Toronto Film Festival held at Roy Thomson Hall on Thursday (September 4) in Toronto, Canada.

The actress wore a slate-grey Michael Kors tweed-print blouse and skirt accented with a black belt from the Fall 2014 collection.

This look took a while to grow on me but now I love how the sheerness of the fabric adds a hint of feminine allure to this covered up look, preventing it from feeling too stuffy.

Best Dressed Of The Week – Nicola Peltz In Prada, Vera Farmiga in Peter Pilotto & Colin Firth in Dolce & Gabbana

BDOTW 3 August 2014

Nicola Peltz was your best dressed this week as her orange Prada gown and white Dior dress took the prizes for first and second best, respectively.

This was a surprise for me as the majority of the comments on her Prada gown, which saw her end her tour with a bang, weren’t all that favourable.

My choice was a very easy one: Vera Farmiga in Peter Pilotto. From the dress itself, with the colour and embellishments, to the styling, this was an unexpected, yet fashionable home run for Vera.

Colin Firth was the overall winner for the guys this week for his Dolce & Gabbana navy suit styled with geek-chic glasses.

Vera Farmiga In Peter Pilotto – Entertainment Weekly’s Annual Comic-Con Celebration

Vera Farmiga In Peter Pilotto - Entertainment Weekly's Annual Comic-Con Celebration
There was no chance of missing Vera Farmiga, as she made a red-haute entrance at ‘Playboy’ and A&E’s ‘Bates Motel’ party on Friday (July 25), hosted during Comic-Con International 2014 in San Diego, California.

Matching her Peter Pilotto Fall 2014 dress to the red carpet and to her crimson lip, the actress embraced the designer’s exuberant spirit of excess in the body-con, boat-neck dress with magenta colour-block paneling and a figure-flattering wrap waist.

Rows and rows of oversized coloured gemstones decorated the front of the frock, adding more radiance to the look.

I do love how she styled the dynamic dress more quietly with a demure, matching Orton clutch and Kurt Geiger ‘Bond’ ballet-pink pumps. No need to compete with such a statement.

It could have gone so wrong, but Vera is working this dress like a star. Outstanding or overdone?

The actress wore a Stella McCartney body-skimming design that is given added allure with sheer-panel detailing at the shoulders and waist, giving the look a waist-narrowing effect.

Her elegant gown was styled with a black clutch and Fred Leighton jewels, including old-mine diamond star earrings and a 19th century diamond and gemstone bangle bracelet.

A pretty coral lip and side-swept wavy tresses completed her look.

Vera Farmiga In Prada – ‘Bates Motels’ Season 2 Premiere

Vera Farmiga In Prada - 'Bates Motels' Season 2 PremiereVera Farmiga returned to the red carpet for the premiere party of A&E’s Season 2 of ‘Bates Motel’ and the series premiere of ‘Those Who Kill,’ held at Warwick in Hollywood, California on Wednesday (February 26).

Reflecting the drama of the show, the actress wore a pretty red Prada silk chiffon pleated dress, enriched with sparkling crystal embroidery at the bodice and waist.

She styled the look quite well with an Emm Kuo metallic snakeskin, raw blacklip shell and mother-of-pearl ‘Kaiss’ minaudiére clutch with gold metal accents. Thankfully, gold and black fishnet pumps took the place of a standard black pair.

An edgy, sharply angled bob and a light rouge lip rounded out this entrance that didn’t require much in the way of jewelry, given the frock’s embellishment and the gloss of the handbag.

Prada looks tend to be hit or miss on the red carpet. How does this one rank?
