It was three-for-three for Prada with this recent roundup of menswear looks, as the brand showed its diversity on three different red carpets.
Algee Smith: At a special screening for ‘Detroit’ in LA last Thursday (August 3), Algee cut a cool profile in a Prada patch-pocket sportcoat styled with complementary brogues that smartly referenced the jacket pocket colour. As he’s still a bit of a newcomer, we haven’t seen much of Algee’s style. But so far I’m loving the sartorial personality he’s bringing with his ensembles.
Tom Holland: With an entirely different interpretation of a Prada ensemble, Tom was eternally classic in this double-breasted, dark suit that was polished to perfection at the ‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’ Japan premiere in Tokyo on Monday (August 7).
Dane DeHaan: No surprises that Dane donned another Prada look for the ‘Valerian’ Sao Paolo premiere in Brazil on Thursday (August 3). Despite his favouritism for this particular style of suit and tie-less dress shirt, I do applaud his embrace of a wide palette of colours, with this icy-blue suit and graphic yellow shirt providing something of a retro-forward twist.
There were a number of men who made an impression at the 2017 BET Awards in LA. But, away from that event, there were more fellows who have made an impression on the red carpet.
Chadwick Boseman: First up, Chadwick scored a style slam dunk at the 2017 NBA Awards on Monday (June 26) in New York City. This Salvatore Ferragamo Spring 2017 striped suit was a seasonal, refreshing alternative to the standard-issue colours of black, navy, and charcoal. Plus, I love that he skipped the tie on this sleek dress shirt.
Filipe Valle Costa: At the premiere of FX’s ‘Snowfall,’ on Monday (June 26) in LA, Filipe looked sharp in a David Hart Fall 2017 suit styled with Cesare Pacciotti shoes and a Rolex timepiece. The festive plaid did seem a bit heavy, but he lightened the mood with his unbuttoned, white dress shirt.
Miles Brown: I’m not sure it could get any more adorable than Miles who was also at the 2017 NBA Awards. With his custom TO Collection suit, paired with Florsheim shoes, he gets major style points. He wears bold plaid and a bow tie better than men three times his age.
Here’s a look at what the men have been serving up on the red carpet of late.
Josh Duhamel: At the China premiere for ‘Transformers: The Last Knight’ on Tuesday (June 13), Josh let fellow attendees Isabela Moner and Laura Haddock take top fashion billing. His neutral suit by The Kooples wasn’t quite so memorable, and I wish the creased fit had presented better.
Jaime Foxx: Jamie joined Lily James at the ‘Baby Driver’ LA premiere on Wednesday (June 14), where his polka-dot suit was the right mix of suave, spirited and sophisticated. It’s always nice to see something outside the standard suiting work so well on the red carpet.
Tom Holland: At a Madrid photocall for ‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’ with Zendaya on Wednesday (June 14), Tom kept his style to off-duty superhero vibes in a casual and cool ensemble from The Kooples paired with a Miansai dove pendant necklace. While the slouchy denim and high-top sneakers can be a hard sell, he pulls it off here.
The men also had their moment at the 2017 MTV Movie & TV Awards on Sunday (May 7) in LA, with a range of experimental looks.
Zac Efron: The ‘Baywatch’ hunk may have been in all-white, but that didn’t keep this ensemble from having an edgy attitude. The holographic sheen of his jacket and the distressed, ripped denim made sure of that.
Brandon Flynn: Tapestry took on a new, low-key meaning with this Saint Laurent Spring 2017 patterned bomber jacket from the women’s collection, styled with black denim and a John Hardy bracelet.
Tommy Dorfman: Apologies to Zara Larsson, but Tommy gets the prize for the real go-go boots of the night with these DSquared2 Spring 2017 designs. I really couldn’t take the rest of the look seriously if I tried, given that footwear. But, this Vivienne Westwood MAN Fall 2017 dudes-in-dresses moment certainly had enough chutzpah to compete with the glitter.
