Red Carpet Fashion Awards

Menswear 8 Nov

Here’s a quick roundup of some of the handsome fellas taking to the red carpet yesterday evening.

Tinie Tempah: The birthday boy attended the Beats by Dre event, which doubled up as his ‘Demonstration’ album launch party in London. Perhaps mindful of the fact that some of you have grown tired of the cropped pants, or perhaps because temperatures are dropping swiftly, he opted to wear regular pants on this occasion. I just love the tan wool blazer. This is yet another dapper Dolce & Gabbana look.

David Beckham: The handsome former footballer joined Kylie Minogue on the red carpet for the GQ Men of the Year Awards in Berlin, Germany looking very dapper in his black suit with a Remembrance Day red poppy proudly pinned to his lapel. “Like no other athlete, David Beckham represents style and fashion influence. With his trendsetting and sometimes daring appearances he has created a bridge between the world of design, models and photographers, and the world of world-class sports, and brought glamour back to a male sport”, said José Redondo-Vega, editor-in-chief of GQ Germany.

Gerard Butler: The Scottish actor attended the Ermenegildo Zegna global store opening hosted by Gildo Zegna and Stefano Pilati in Beverly Hills, California yesterday evening. Looking slick in a blue two-button suit, I love the contrasting black tie and blue shoes. Men so often stick to black.

Let’s hear it for the boys once again.

Tinie Tempah: The British rapper, who turned 25 today, joined a host of lovely ladies and Idris Elba on the red carpet for the Harper’s Bazaar Women of the Year awards on Tuesday. He was, of course, wearing his favourite brand Dolce & Gabbana, wearing a three-piece suit including a velvet blazer and vest which had a festive cheer to it. The look packed in plenty of his signatures: bow tie, black-frame glasses, cropped trousers and loafers.

Zachary Quinto: For the Guggenheim International Gala, the ‘Star Trek’ actor donned a Dior Homme grey wool micro-check two-button small-notch-lapel blazer styled with a white cotton button-down shirt, washed ‘Second Round’ Dior Homme denim jeans, and black leather derbies. The blazer confuses me here.

Will Forte: The handsome actor took to the red carpet in New York City last night wearing a grey Simon Spurr suit with a teal-blue tie for the ‘Nebraska’ screening at the Paris Theater.

Dan Stevens: The British actor also attended the Guggenheim International Gala, sporting a dressed-down look. The difference is his look has considerably more finesse than Zachary’s.

From Scotland to England, the guys suited up in style for a round of red carpets this past weekend.

Tinie Tempah: The British rapper was appropriately dressed in a trendy-dapper Dolce & Gabbana black tux and a perfect bow tie, as he pointed out his Best Hip Hop/Grime MOBO Award at the 18th anniversary MOBO Awards at the Hydro in Glasgow, Scotland on Saturday. The loafers, worn sans socks, added another shot of attitude.

Tom Hiddleston: At Friday’s ‘Only Lovers Left Alive’ London premiere during the 57th BFI London Film Festival at Odeon West End, the British actor walked the line between bold and basic in an Alexander McQueen black velvet shawl collar dinner jacket, paired with a white evening shirt, skinny black tie, black trousers and black patent shoes.

Colin Farrell: The actor joined Ruth Wilson at the ‘Saving Mr. Banks’ closing night gala premiere, held during the 57th BFI London Film Festival at Odeon Leicester Square last night. He tempered his edgy persona with a more clean-cut look featuring a dark, three-piece Dolce & Gabbana pinstripe number.

Burberry Prorsum Menswear

After a decade in Milan, British designer Christopher Bailey moved the Burberry Prorsum Menswear show back to home turf, as he sent a set of best-dressed boys down the Spring 2014 runway today at Kensington Gardens in London, England. An eclectic group was seated front row, with many rocking their own interpretations of the brand.

Douglas Booth: The young English actor turned on his boyish charm with this casual Burberry ensemble, as he rolled up the sleeves of his denim-blue blazer. The floral-print, cerulean-blue shirt echoed some of the brighter hues seen on the runway, but his dark, baggy pants and unpolished black lace-up shoes brought down the look a bit.

Serena Williams: The tennis ace simultaneously flaunted and covered her curves in top-to-toe Burberry, donning a Burberry London fuchsia body-con minidress mixed with a classic stone-coloured trench. She styled the look with animal-print, calfskin T-bar sandals and a tote bag, covered in black hearts. A pulled-back ‘do, rather than her super-long locks, may have delivered a more polished effect.

Tinie Tempah: The British rapper also got in touch with his animal instincts with a Burberry giraffe-print, black-and-white shirt worn with the brand’s black cropped leg pants and shiny patent shoes. The bold black frames of his glasses added another dose of cool factor to his standout entrance.

Jimmy Choo Esquire Party Menswear Round Up

There were plenty of dudes attending the Jimmy Choo and Esquire party which was held during the start of Menswear Spring 2014 fashion week.

Dan Stevens: The former ‘Downton Abbey’ actor wore a slick all-black Spencer Hart look with a pair of Jimmy Choo ‘Abbot’ black sneakers with a white sole. We’ve only seen the British actor sport classic suits so far, so it’s refreshing to see him wearing something a bit more contemporary.

Tinie Tempah: Always one to step outside the classic suit-and-tie menswear look, the rapper wore a layered top and black cropped pants – a look he often favours – with Jimmy Choo ‘Foxley’ loafers. His glazed leather whole-cut venetian loafers with tonal oversized tassel detail added a dapper flair to his casual look, where sneakers would’ve been the most obvious choice.

Mark Ronson: The DJ selected a Prince of Wales check charcoal-grey suit styled with a printed shirt. Also selecting an unpredictable shoe, Mark wore tobacco-hued Jimmy Choo ‘Radnor’ slippers. They are a sleek yet fun take on the classic loafer, finished in textured suede and shiny calf leather.

Wretch 32: We don’t associate velvet with summer, but since summer is yet to arrive in London, I would say the rapper’s look was season appropriate. This copper blazer teamed with a white shirt and navy trousers was styled with a pair of Jimmy Choo ‘Belgravia’ matt croc-embossed leather high-top sneakers in black cherry. Will Smith wore these same sneakers last month in black.
