Claire Danes In Valentino – 2015 Golden Globe Awards

Claire Danes In Valentino - 2015 Golden Globe Awards

Claire Danes attended the 2015 Golden Globe Awards on Sunday (January 11) in Beverly Hills, California.

Never one to shy away from a sartorial challenge, the Homeland star chose a textured Valentino gown from the fashion house’s Spring 2015 collection.

As a fan of Claire and Valentino, this is a look that I genuinely want to like. Unfortunately, this dress is more runway appropriate than red carpet ready. Though Claire is one of the few actress who can pull off such an intricate gown, a lot of the detail is lost on camera. Translation? As beautiful as it is, this Valentino dress looks more like a frock inspired by Little House on the Prairie.

And while we’re nitpicking, those blue Lorraine Schwartz earrings look awfully similar to the red Lorraine Schwartz earrings Claire sported at the 2014 Emmys. Nevertheless, the earrings perfectly accessorized the printed gown; however nixing the single bracelet would’ve streamlined this overall look.

Salma Hayek In Alexander McQueen – 2015 Golden Globe Awards

Salma Hayek In Alexander McQueen - 2015 Golden Globe Awards

Salma Hayek swept onto the red carpet at the 2015 Golden Globe Awards, hosted on Sunday (January 11) at The Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, California.

The actress donned an Alexander McQueen ivory brocade bustier gown, worn with a gunmetal grey belt that added some non-bridal edge to the design.

While on its own merit, the dress was beautiful; sadly, the look was compromised by too many accessories. The Boucheron jewels, including feather-shaped earrings, were stunning, and an Alexander McQueen tonal clutch the perfect companion.

But I would have never missed the floral headpiece—or the cuff bracelet, for that matter.

She did keep her beauty look on the minimal side with soft waves and equally au naturel makeup.

Julianna Margulies In Ulyana Sergeenko Couture – 2015 Golden Globe Awards

Julianna Margulies In Ulyana Sergeenko Couture – 2015 Golden Globes

Julianna Margulies attended the 2015 Golden Globe Awards held at the Beverly Hilton Hotel on Sunday (January 11) in Beverly Hills, California.

“The Good Wife” star donned a rose-colored Ulyana Sergeenko Couture strapless with intricate hem detail.

I feel that the length of the dress is a bit clumsy looking on Julianna’s body due to the cut right above the ankle. Additionally, the wide-cut bodice does not properly accentuate her figure, leaving her look shapeless.

Though her Bulgari jewels are beautiful, I do not think that they work with this particular dress, and are harshly contrasted with her black heels and clutch.

I would have preferred to see Julianna wear dark jewelry in tone with her accessories, and have her beautiful, cascading hair curled and down – her hair is her best asset.

Viola Davis In Donna Karan Atelier – 2015 Golden Globes

Viola Davis In Donna Karan Atelier – 2015 Golden Globes

Viola Davis makes a dazzling entrance at the 2015 Golden Globe Awards, held at The Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, California on Sunday (January 11).

Donning a Donna Karan Atelier dress speckled with ruby red and crystal rhinestones, this actress appeared comfortable and confident in her long gown. Adding to the drama, the silky red dress was accented with a chunky diamond bracelet and earrings.

Bold makeup in the form of purple eyeshadow and crimson lips elevated this look into Old Hollywood glam territory.

While Viola’s color selection is perfectly on point, we would’ve loved to have seen a less fussy hairstyle, with softer strands and fewer pin curls.

Jennifer Aniston In Saint Laurent – 2015 Golden Globe Awards

Jennifer Aniston In Saint Laurent - 2015 Golden Globe Awards

Jennifer Aniston attended the 2015 Golden Globe Awards tonight (January 11) at The Beverly Hiton Hotel in Beverly Hills, California.

The best actress nominee for ‘Cake’ took to the red carpet in a Saint Laurent design—likely no shock to many of us that it was a black gown.

The halter dress came equipped with a sequin bodice, cummerbund-inspired detailing, and a sexy thigh-high slit. Perhaps this was her attempt to ratchet up her simple and safe red-carpet style a few notches.

Yet, even when styled with a slicked-back updo and long dangling statement earrings, I still found myself a bit underwhelmed by her effort here.

Beautiful yet boring?
