The Hollywood Reporter 6th Annual Nominees Night Red Carpet Roundup

Along with Greta Gerwig, many more stars were at The Hollywood Reporter 6th Annual Nominees Night on Monday (February 5) in Beverly Hills, California.

Kelly Marie Tran: When I saw this Georges Chakra Fall 2017 Couture confection on the runway, it was like a fashion fantasy. While I appreciate the lining, I do think it lost a bit of its lightness and magic as a result. I also was missing the embellished bodice detailing.

Timothee Chalamet: Intentionally or not, the young actor’s Gucci Resort 2018 forest-green suit was the perfect match with the thematic colour of the evening. It was also the perfect reflection of his casually refined style with the tailoring and T-shirt combo.

Betty Gabriel: Going completely girly, Betty donned a retro-inspired Sachin & Babi Spring 2018 frock that reminded me of a play on a poodle skirt—with embellished lips to replace the pups. I do think it would have been more successful had it been shortened to tea length.

Menswear Red Carpet Roundup

Here, the latest look at the guys who have caught our eye.

Armie Hammer: The actor was at the London Film Critics Circle Awards 2018 on Sunday (January 28), where he suited up in an Etro ensemble. I like the coloration of this green striped jacket, especially as it brought out his eyes.

John Legend: Does it get more dapper than this? I think not, as the singer debuted a dandy Gucci plaid suit in Soho, New York City on Tuesday (January 30). It was ever so stylized in all the right ways with the striped bow tie, colour-block tassel loafers, and bold sunglasses.

Timothée Chalamet: Joining Armie at the London Film Critics Circle Awards, the young actor kept his signature look going strong with the slim, cropped proportions of this Berluti suit and black T-shirt. This bold blue colour was striking on him.

Menswear Weekend Roundup

The weekend brought with it a number of menswear looks, from Paris to New York City, with many guys attending pre-Grammy events.

Timothée Chalamet: The actor was at the Paris premiere of ‘Call Me By Your Name’ on Friday (January 26), where he switched up the suit-and-tie look of late with this Berluti ensemble. I like how he effortlessly married the sleek leather blazer and cropped trousers with a white T-shirt for a casual flair.

Jared Leto: Before taking to the stage to perform at the MusiCares Person of the Year honouring Fleetwood Mac on Friday (January 26) in New York City, Jared was on the red carpet in this Helmut Lang Seen by Shayne Oliver Spring 2018 look—thus answering all our questions if it was indeed possible for him to wear something other than clashing colours, crazy prints, and floor-dragging pants. This pristine all-white number is his best look in quite some time.

Shawn Mendes: At the GRAMMY Salute to Industry Icons Honoring Jay-Z on Saturday (January 27) in New York City, Shawn wore a sleek Givenchy Spring 2018 black suit that I loved all the more because he kept the gold lip-printed shirting underneath for some tongue-in-cheek pizzazz.

2018 SAG Awards Menswear Red Carpet Roundup

Many of the fellows at the 2018 SAG Awards weren’t content to just wear the standard black tux, making for quite the scene-stealing list of looks on Sunday (January 21) in LA.

Noah Schnapp: The young ‘Stranger Things’ star continued to win my affection with a lesson in all that is dapper in his custom-made velvet tuxedo by Stella McCartney paired with Jésù-SégunLondon slipper-style shoes, a Brackish bowtie, and Mrs Bow Tie pocket square. What a charmer.

Sterling K. Brown:
The ‘This Is Us’ star won the best actor award, and his look was equally stellar in this Giorgio Armani tuxedo styled with a Chopard timepiece and cufflinks. This was a lesson in the appeal of classic style with a modern twist thanks to the shades and the slim-line, slightly cropped proportions.

Dacre Montgomery:
I liked this Giorgio Armani ensemble for its unorthodox twist on the traditional tux in the chocolate-brown hue and exaggerated shawl label. Wearing his dress shirt unbuttoned at the top added a rebellious flavour that actually echoed his ‘Stranger Things’ character quite well. Montblanc cufflinks completed the look.

2018 Producers Guild Awards Red Carpet Roundup

The 2018 Producers Guild Awards was the event to attend in Los Angeles on Saturday (January 20), with a host of star making appearances.

Holly Hunter: While this look isn’t going to remain in our minds for long, I love the high waist and geometric-print bodice on the Elizabeth Kennedy Spring 2017 gown. A perfect blowout and arms that are giving us all major workout inspo are keeping Holly on the fashion map.

Timothee Chalamet: The ‘Call Me By Your Name’ actor has certainly been stretching his fashion legs his first award season, and continues to experiment. Since we have mostly seen him in more shrunken styles, this slightly oversized double-breasted jacket seems to be a departure. I’m not crazy about it on its own, but I like it as a entry into his overall body of red carpet ‘work’.

Leslie Mann: I consider Leslie to be one of the most underrated stars to regularly grace the red carpet, and this Reem Acra gown, paired with Irene Neuwirth jewels proves my point: The gown has absolutely everything I love in a gown: Bright colors, a gorgeous print, exquisite detailing and and overall joyful vibe. Thanks for never letting me down, Leslie.

The National Board Of Review Annual Awards Gala Menswear Roundup

A trio of men joined Angelina Jolie, Julianna Margolies, Saoirse Ronan, and Lupita Nyong’o among others at The National Board Of Review Annual Awards Gala on Tuesday (January 9) in New York City.

Timothée Chalamet: On some other guys, the tie on this Thom Browne gray suit would have taken me straight to the corporate office. But, the young actor manages to pull it off with his quirky panache, given the intentionally cropped proportions of the suiting.

Armie Hammer: This Brunello Cucinelli ensemble was another sharp look for the actor. What I loved the most was how smartly the baby-blue shirt and floral pin brought out his eyes. It was also a first-class lesson in how crisp and polished a menswear look can be without a tie.

Daniel Kaluuya: Speaking of no ties, Daniel was just as sleekly handsome in his dark Burberry suit styled with a solid use of a turtleneck. The pocket square also infused this look with so much personality.

2018 Golden Globe Awards Menswear Roundup

The all-black dress code was something more applicable to the women at the 2018 Golden Globe Awards on Sunday (January 7) in Beverly Hills, California. But, the menswear also followed in similar form with a countless number of classic black tuxes in the mix—many accessorised by the ‘Times Up’ pin.

Dave Franco: I don’t think Dave could have looked more fine in his Saint Laurent tuxedo that was given an elevated flair with the embellished lapels that glinted ever so slightly in the light. And, can we just talk about his enviable brow line.

Sterling K. Brown: The actor, who won the Golden Globe for his work in ‘This Is Us’ was sharply turned out in an Isaia velvet tuxedo jacket styled with Christian Louboutin patent loafers and Chopard accessories. If I were to nitpick, the trousers could have done with a bit of tailoring to the length.

Timothée Chalamet: The ‘Call Me By Your Name’ actor and nominee took a handsome, all-black approach in his Berluti slim-line suit.
