Social Events Of The Week

Grand Opening the One&Only Cape Town Resort, South Africa

Thandie Newton wore a really gorgeous Chanel black dress, with a cute bow tie on the front.

The ruffles sleeves added to the girlie girl nature of the dress, whilst she completed her look with a pair of YSL gold studded heels.

Thandie always looks her best, and never lets me down.

“Race To Witch Mountain” London Premiere

I must start off by saying that I think Carla Gugino’s make-up really lets her down.

It takes a lot away from her outstanding dove grey Reem Acra silk chiffon strapless dress, which is quite exquisite, with its embroidered bodice.

Her look is complete with Jimmy Choo sandals.

“Observe And Report” LA Premiere

Anna Faris is a young actress, so she can get away with this plum Azzaro dress, which looks like a bikini from the waist up.

Although I don’t like the dress, she looks amazing.

8th Annual Comedy For A Cure, LA

Sporting an impressive bouffant, Teri Hatcher wore a toga-style beige dress by Monique Lhuillier.

Whereas her Desperate Housewives co-star Dana Delany, opted for a cute flirty Prada black taffeta dress, with ruffles and a pleated hem.

I really appreciate the maroon heels. Black would’ve been so one-dimensional.

Social Events Of The Week

The Rodeo Drive Walk Of Style Plaque Unveiling, LA

Anne Hathaway and fashion designer Valentino Garavani seem inseparable that the moment. They attended the plaque unveiling presentation, of Valentino being inducted into the Rodeo Drive Walk Of Style.

Valentino is the 13th fashion leader to receive the honour, joining Manolo Blahnik, Tom Ford and Giorgio Armani.

Anna is radiant. She looks so fresh-faced, I feel like she is about to shoot a cosmetic campaign.

She wore a Valentino Pre-Fall 2009 belted champagne and pink floral satin dress, with a symbolic Valentino red coat, and nude peep-toe Louboutin’s.

Breath-taking.

Parsons Fashion Benefit, New York

Speaking of radiant and fresh faced. Leighton Meester is back on her A game wearing this white Calvin Klein Spring 2009 dress.

Her lilac Balenciaga peep-toes booties are more appeasing to the eye, unlike those Reebok sneakers we saw recently.

Race To Witch Mountain Madrid Premiere

Carla Gugino wore a gorgeous tomato red satin Georges Chakra Couture Fall 2008 dress.

From the front you think it’s just another plain dress, but the back is were the magic happens.

The actress completes her look with Christian Louboutin Bow T Dorcet heels. Taylor Swift wore these in a previous post. Could this be the new ‘it’ shoe?

Origins Kicks-Off The Return To Origins Recycling Program, LA

Jessica Stroup really embodies the Spring time feeling I have been having, wearing an eggshell moire embroidered Brian Reyes Spring 2009 skirt, with a nude low v drop top by the same designer.

Her look was complete with nude Jimmy Choo Corsica strappy sandals.

2009 Pleasure Summit, Turkey

Eva Mendes wore a Moschino Cheap and Chic royal blue silk sleeveless pleated v-neck dress, with ivory heels to complete her look.

La Perla Shopping Party, LA

Kristen Bell wears a incredibly exquisite La Perla ivory embroidered mini dress. A French Connection box clutch, and strappy sandals complete the look.

Starlight Children’s Foundation’s Annual “A Stellar” Gala, LA

Teri Hatcher looks beyond fabulous in this lavender one-shouldered Monique Lhuillier Pre-Fall 2009 satin dress.

When she’s hot, she’s hot.

“Hair” Broadway Revival Opening Night, New York

Ginnifer Goodwin looks cute in a black Calvin Klein split sleeved dress, with a black belt. Her clutch and shoes are by Stella McCartney, her smile is still absent.

03.04.09 Premiere

"Hannah Montana The Movie" LA Premiere

Normally there is always something I dislike about what Miley Cyrus wears, but on this occasion I can’t hate. I think it’s the right mix of her being stylish, young and fun. Something I don’t think I’ve ever said about her look before.

I’ll let you decided on the age appropriateness of this look, but for me it’s not too cheesy, she’s not 16 going on 30, and the leather jacket adds a bit of youth to her fringed teal Alberta Ferretti Spring 2009 dress, with a fringed rope belt.

Oh Taylor, please rub off some of that tremendous style and grace you possess, to your BFF.

Taylor Swift stamps her claim for a a spot on the Best Dressed list, by arriving at the premiere looking outstanding in a black beaded strapless Naeem Khan Fall 2009 dress.

She completed her stunning look with Christian Louboutin Bow T Dorcet heels, and a black Mary Norton clutch.

It was Miley’s night, but Taylor stole her crown.

Emily Osment’s Faviana black one shoulder dress, has a floral embellishment which cascades down the front of her dress and across the bodice.

I do like the dress, as I’m impressed she carried off all that detail, but I really don’t think the shoes are a good fit.

Demi Lovato gets the prize for being the worst dressed at this event. The skirt of that dress looks like ringlets.

How very bizarre. Plus the make-up is not working for me either.

Vanessa Williams never lets me down. She wears another burst of colour on the red carpet with this sunshine yellow ribbed sheath dress.

Her turquoise necklace, nude heels and multi-coloured Carlos Falchi clutch complete the look.

Melora Hardin wore a spring chic Rafael Cennamo white v-front dress. The dress, which she wore with purple peep-toes, was embellished with a light blue floral belt.

She completed her look with an ostrich feathered Mary Norton bag with gold chain strap.

Teri Hatcher goes casual wearing a gorgeous pearl embellished tank with dark wash jeans.

Social Events Of The Weekend

Dolce & Gabbana Fall 2009 Front Row

Leave it to a supermodel to show us how fabulous the Dolce & Gabbana Spring 2009 collection can look. While the actresses in the VIP room were wearing safe options, Eva Herzigova wore the one of the many stand-out pieces, in the form of a scarlet red sheath dress, with voluminous quarterback shoulders.

Her fellow supermodel, Claudia Schiffer, wore a less in-ya-face colour, but picked the perfect accessories, to make her black on black ensemble from the Spring 2009 collection stand out.

“Phoebe In Wonderland” Screening, LA

Sporting longer and lighter locks, Eva Longoria supported her cast mate Felicity Hoffman at her movie screening.

Eva was ravishing in a scarlet one-shoulder Diane von Furstenberg sheath dress.

Felicity Hoffman matched Eva, in the bright colours stakes, by showing off a fabulous zest for fashion wearing this lemon Pamella Roland full skirted dress.

“A” and SKY Present 60’s Party Night, Milan

Although many would consider lace so last season, Eva Mendes truly worked lace to perfection in her over-the-knee, collared dress, which she accessorized with a gorgeous black patent belt, and sky-high platform Casadei pumps.

Dolce & Gabbana The Make Up, Milan

Scarlett Johansson arrived at this event wearing a leopard print Dolce & Gabbana trench, black cigarette trousers and grey booties.

During the photocall the actress whipped off her coat, to reveal a very pretty pink satin blouse.

“Keep Memory Alive” Gala, LA

Teri Hatcher shows off her svelte figure in a long black halter dress, with an embroidered breast panel, teamed with a matching black clutch and a gold cuff.

Hilary Duff seems to age in this black belted dress, with a fringed hem. Her look was complete with Givenchy Open Toe d’Orsay heels.

PADRES Contra El Cancer Benefit, LA

Wearing what appears to be a First Lady-inspired look, Eva Longoria matches her neutrals, wearing a beige shift Versace dress paired with matching beige Christian Louboutin heels.

26.01.09 Best Dressed

2009 SAG Awards – Best Dressed

Best Dressed Award
Wearing the colour of the season – electric blue – Kate Winslet is the only actress that made me say wow last night.

The British actress was truly outstanding wearing a stunning Narciso Rodriguez body-con gown, which hugged her in all the right places.

The deep v-neck proved again that Kate is not afraid to show off her cleavage.

She completed her look with Chopard jewels.

I particularly loved her earrings.

Best Runner Up Award
Had it not been for Kate, Evan Rachel Wood would have won Best Dressed wearing this stunning teal Monique Lhuillier Pre-Fall 2009 off-the-shoulder gown.

She accented the gown with a eagle brooch, which worked well with rest of her antique looking jewelry.

She completed her look with purple Sergio Rossi heels, and a matching clutch.

Most Dramatic Award
I like drama on the red carpet. And Teri Hatcher certainly provided that last night wearing this Monqiue Lhuillier Pre-Fall 2009 gown, which had an asymmetric bodice, folds on the skirt, a train, shoulder detail, and a black belt to finish off the look.

It all sounds to much, but it worked perfectly. Teri more than did it justice as she literally bounced with joy down the red carpet, looking particularly pleased with herself.

Most Undecided Award
I went back and forth a lot with Eva Longoria in this Jenny Packham Spring 2009 dress.

I like the dress, the colour, and the gold crystal and turquoise embellished neckline. But I really dislike Eva’s hair, and the nude mesh part of the dress.

Best White Award
There were many white gowns on the red carpet last night, but Anne Hathaway’s was the most exquisite. The actress wore a white Azzaro gown with crystal embellished neckline and belt.

This dress sees the classic beauty return to her outstanding red carpet form, we have long been admiring.

Her look was complete with Cartier jewels, and Christian Louboutin heels.

I Know You Probably Hate It, But I Love It Award
No red carpet is complete without a Elie Saab gown, and Marisa Tomei did not disappoint in this canary yellow Elie Saab Spring 2009 gown with satin floral detail.

The floral detail started on the shoulder, then cascaded down her back.

She is on fire at the moment.

Back On Track Award
After Freida Pinto’s disappointing Golden Globes gown, she was back to her best wearing a pale blue Marchesa gown.

She completed her look with a Roger Viver box clutch, and Martin Katz jewels.

Best Dressed Couple Award
Diane Lane and Josh Brolin together always make me swoon.

He was gorgeous wearing a black on black suit, whilst she shone, so elegantly, wearing a red David Meister halter gown.

Most Vibrant Award
I have not seen any movies with Viola Davis, so she was not really on my radar, but she surely grabbed my attention wearing a vibrant yellow David Meister draped stretch charmeuse one shoulder evening gown.

The colour really popped against her skin.

Best Red Award
There were a lot of red dresses on the SAG red carpet last night, but I loved the silhouette of Claire Danes’ Nina Ricci gown.

The dress was also set apart with it’s asymmetrical skirt, and its sheer cap sleeves.

She completed her look with Fred Leighton jewels and Jimmy Choo heels.

Best Couture Award
Couture doesn’t have to be about highly structured pieces. It can also be about gorgeous floaty ultra feminine pieces like this Anne Valérie Hash Fall 2008 Couture strapless gown, which Jennifer Morrison wore last night.

The lace skirt and embellished neckline look beautifully delicate.

Best Snap Back Award
The last time I saw Amy Poehler on the red carpet she was pregnant, now she has snapped back to her fabulous pre-baby figure.

The comedian also wore white, and looked angelic wearing a plunge-neck Roberto Cavalli Pre-Fall 2008 gown with a brooch detail on the empire waist.

Silver peep toes and diamond jewels completed the look.

Va Va Voom Award
WOW. I have said it before, and I will say it again. What an amazing figure Christina Hendricks has. Her racy red Carolina Herrera ruffle neck gown, does nothing but enhance it.

Glorious.

Quietly Consistent Award
Jenna Fischer does not wear anything that screams “Look At Me”, but she always manages to look fantastic.

She did so again last night wearing a dove grey silk chiffon plunge-neck Pamella Roland gown with yellow and grey beading along the empire-waist.

Best Deja Vu Award
Lisa Edelstein is wearing a red Reem Acra Pre-Fall 2009 asymmetric gown, we have seen many times before. Mainly because there is a Resort 2009 dress which looks very similar which was recently worn by Gabrielle Union.
